  • SkyTrak and WGT

    Hi all,

I have seen many people asking about skytrak and WTG and it seems like that the people who are beta testing TGC and E6 have never
played or tested WTG. It seems like nobody in this forum has tested it. There is no videos ... nothing. But from what I keep hearing
skytrak is coming out with WTG first...? Is there anybody who has some more detailed info or talked to somebody who tested it ?
I'm only interested cause I'm pretty sure it will be the cheapest of all versions and to test it out it would be that big of an investment.
I own a skytrak since about 5 month and can't wait for course play. The problem is I'm on the road a lot so I will not be able to play
on a regular basis. That's why TGC ,even that it seems to be the best choice, doesn't make much sense if it's going to be a monthly
prescription. Really hope to get some infos or even videos about skytrak with WTG.

  • I would probably think about wgt if it had multi-player. For now I will stick with my 1 demo e6 course.

Not to mention the gip should give you the ability to test everything in the game. Putting and all.

I finally got to play today for the first time, with both WGT and e6. e6 is the clear winner for me between these two, but I'm still thinking TGC is where I will end up. WGT was fun, but the off-angles due to the photo-based design of the game kind of killed it for me. That and the putting and chipping was not great for me... e6 short game was better in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more, very disappointed in WGT now that we are playing full courses and see the full functionality of the software.

    • I completely disagree, I thought e6 was more accurate on the range but in the game not so much. Also how can you beat the images of WGT. The flag even moves in the right direction based on the wind. Its $100.00. I would imagine e6 is a lot more and it also requires you to blow more on a pricey gaming computer. WGT is missing multiplayer and I agree some of the angles while putting or chipping are confusing but its still awesome. They have to be about the same Stats unless e6 has more calculations for the shots hit. I'm looking forward to TGC.

      • Don't know if i missed this, but what are the putting options in WGT?
        1-Can you select autoputt?
2-Can you select a gimme distance?
3-Can you manually enter a number putts after reaching green?
4-Can you select to only putt one time and then it be a gimme?

          • I really appreciate all this info on WGT, E6, and TGC. I doubt I'll ever spring for E6 considering the prices I see out there. I don't have a gaming PC and don't really want to buy one, so it's probably WGT for me.

Btw, what happened to all the discussion on the early adopter gip discount code? I'm still hanging - not sure if everyone gave up or has been taken care of.

Thanks again for all the info guys.

I purchased skytrak and GIP a week or so ahead of WGT release. Chat customer service said I would get email with code. 5 days later when I got no code I used chat again. They gave me a toll free number to call at skytrak. Waited on the line for over 30 minutes and no answer. I would have waited a week to activate my GIP if I knew skytrak customer service was so bad.

Not resolved and not given up.

          • Is there online play where I could play against a friend who has skytrak and WGT as well

When they set up SkyTrak tournaments. Coming up for the Holidays.

          • Finally upgraded to v2.0 and solved all syncing issues (I hope). While trying to see if WGT works properly it says "Server Error"? Anybody else getting this? Thanks.

            • So I chipped out of a bunker and hit the flag ball dropped to 4" or so - WGT displayed auto putting out or similar message, it then proceeded to smash the putt 39 ft past the hole. I had no choice in this it wasn't like the do you wanna take the gimme prompt. Of course from there it was a 3 putt hole, really annoying bug. Anyone else seen similar?

Yep, happened to me too. SkyTrak_Seth, isn't really addressing any bugs at this time, probably pushing for the next release.

The FULL WGT is nothing like the beta/trial version we were allowed to play with.

In my opinion, they need to add FULL 9 HOLE PLAY to the base package and not just the 9 hole CTTP challenge. When playing a full nine holes you can see how annoying WGT really is. I guess I expected a bit more for $100. My fault,

Would of been nice to have the trial to see the 45 degree angle on off fairway shots or how some chips/putts put you a the most ridiculous angle.

Skygolf isn't getting another penny without a demo of the product first.

seconded luv2golf: none of this was apparent in the (obviously now) handpicked 'beta'.
Pretty terrible - and Skytrak should realize that they are being judged on their associations with these companies.
It's one thing to have a good system, but another to completely abrogate your responsibilities to vendors.

Thanks MrHogan for the helpful feedback. I will send this to WGT immediately. Have not ever seen this, but appears to be an issue.

            • I still have most putts going right. Have to aim about 5 feet left on all putts. Anyone else. Also any thoughts on playing another skytrak owner online

              • I just played and had some issues with teeing it up and again driver distance. I shot a 78 yesterday on a real course and shot a 49 on wgt through 9 soo far. When they get driving and woods get more accurate I wont car much about putting. I have better luck chipping on the greens especially from 40 ft plus.

                • This is why people have been saying that image based simulation software is garbage. You need the entire course modeled in 3D. Your ball needs to be able to hit trees/cart paths...etc. Picture based sims shouldn't even be compared to regular simulation software (E6, TGC, Red Chain, FSX, PG..etc.).

The entire course IS modeled in 3d. Just because you're seeing a picture, doesn't mean they didn't model the whole course to determine ball interaction. The same goes for HD Golf. The pictures are overlaid on top of detailed 3d terrain models. It's too bad WGT didn't take more pictures though. It would be nice if there weren't so many odd viewing angles.

So if you hit your ball way into the woods you think they modeled every tree? Or they even took pictures in there?

I'm saying pic sims (HD is the best of course) or not in the same league as full 3d modeled sims.

My biggest complaint is the lack of a ball view when playing on pic sims...obviously because it's impossible with that sim type.

                • People, it's $100 a year for this. If you're comparing this to the simulators you see which cost tens of thousands of dollars, you need to get a grip and reset your expectations. For $100 a year this is a steal. You get to play golf hitting your own clubs and balls with a BALL monitor, not a club monitor. So many golfers would kill for this to have in the cold season.

Seriously, the whining and complaining here is laughable. Talk about entitled, you want what other people pay tens of thousands of dollars for and only want to pay $100 for it? Ooookay.

I agree as well, however, lack of local multiplayer is a major problem for me and has me planning for TGC. WGT is tiding me over for now but I'm eagerly awaiting more and willing to pay

I agree. Skytrak has given me something I thought I'd never own in my lifetime. But I also agree with Tekbud and others about multiplayer. WGT does appear to support it, so I would think it is coming. Makes no sense to not have it.

Difference is TGC is a sim software whereas WGT is a gaming app - the sim software guys realized multiplayer for sim is important whereas the gaming app guys is built for people who play online with one another as opposed to allowing multi players during single login with one account. So unless WGT is generating significant enough revenues from sim golf, I would think multiplayer will not be around the corner...

                • All the funny angles don't bother me in the slightest. I play by numbers not feel - on the course too. So I always hit straight relative to the skytrak not the image on the screen. Putting is another story, even in commercial sims I set gimmes to the max I can, putting in a sim is detrimental to my game so I try to avoid putting as much as possible which is no bad thing as WGT seems to be the worst at putting I've experienced.
But at $100 its a total bargain. Im not sure i'll be spending £2k on a pc and software, are they really 20x better?
