  • SkyTrak PC - Beta

    Ok guys, here it is. Before you go crazy installing, please take a moment to read through all the information below – it’s important. This is essentially the same release as iOS v2.0, so I’ll post those release notes at the bottom. As with the recent WGT Beta, please don’t contact SkyGolf support during this short beta period.


    PC NOTES
    • You’ll see in the release notes that the most critical addition here is license requirements. This means that certain features in the software will only be available if you have the Game Improvement Subscription Package. Let me explain how this works. Your SkyTrak unit becomes the “key” to unlock the features in the software. First you will need to make sure your unit is registered – if you haven’t yet, you can do this through the app in the Profile>ABOUT screen. Once registered, the unit will pull your subscription license down from the cloud and store it in the unit. So think of it this way…to get the license onto the unit, you’ll need to be connected to the unit and the internet at the same time, just as with device registration (my preference is via USB below…).
    • Every time you connect your unit, it will go through a ‘License Check” first. This is per the above.
    • The unit can now be connected to your PC via either Direct mode, Network Mode, or just by USB (quite a bit easier than network mode to have connection + internet!). To connect via USB, connect the USB cable to the unit and PC first, THEN turn the unit on.
    • During beta, we are working behind the scenes to allow for screen maximization and custom sizing, so for now I have limited the window to 1024x768 as I know many of you are using projectors. You can change your screen resolution if you want it to fill the whole screen, but this will be a short beta period and I just want to get it in your hands. Just understand that window sizing is coming.
    • This is a straight copy of the iOS app, so think of using your mouse like you would your finger (ie to scroll down in the session history, click and drag up). We’ll be adding more PC-intuitive controls.
    • When you first connect your unit to this app, the unit will be upgraded to the new 1.35 firmware. You will see the unit reboot itself.
    • The download is a zip file. Extract it and just run SkyTrak.exe from the unzipped folder for now.
    • Again, don’t contact SkyGolf customer support during beta. Let me help you, and you’re pretty darn good at helping each other too.


    V2.0 RELEASE NOTES
    • Added subscription/license requirements for Subscription Package features and Simulation partners
    • Resolved Data Sync issues
    • Added SkyTrak Hardware Battery Indicator
    • Added “+/-“ fine-tune adjustments for Closest to Pin distance adjustment
    • Added ability to save Session Settings (remains on last used)
    • Average distance on the range is now for current club only
    • Fixed Side Spin Average bug in Session History
    • Added ABOUT screen in Profile – Displays software version, firmware version, and registration information (for now, this will only serve as a register device button)
    • Users are automatically upgraded to hardware firmware version 1.35 for future putting functionality
    • Various bug fixes/backend/server communications/licensing work


    PC REQUIREMENTS
    • Windows 7 or 8 (have not tested with prior versions or Windows 10)
    • 32-Bit or 64-Bit
    • Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
    • 2GB RAM

        Probably a dumb question, but I assume we can still use the current IOS app once the firmware is updated? Or are we locked into the PC app once we use it (until the new IOS app is released)?

              Won't be able to use until tomorrow, any Windows 10 users, will be curious if there are an issues, let us know. And is this going to include the alignment feature that we heard about from the beta testers or that's not until the full real release? Thanks and great work Seth!

                loaded up the app. seems to be working, it can't find the skytrak unit at all though. I have it connected via USB per the instructions above and turned it on after launching the app but it can't find it. Also can't find it on the network mode. Loaded up the ipad app and it found it right away. All devices are on the same network. Although now on the ipad app it is not taking my log in info for my account. I'll keep troubleshooting

                I turned everything off. logged out of the PC app. (I'm guessing just closing out of the program doesn't log you off and can probably only be able to log onto 1 program at a time?) when I relaunched the PC app it connected immediately over network mode.

                edit 2: I got it to connect via network mode, hit some swings and it was registering like normal. I still can't get it to connect via USB so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong there. Also now getting a message on the PC app about needing to subscribe to the premium package to access History, Stats, and challenge section.(i still have this functionality on my ipad though)
                Firmware is version 1.350 ( not sure what it was before but this is the one it currently shows) Tried putting but couldn't get anything to register so not sure if this was supposed to include that.

                  For USB, try connecting the unit to the computer first, then turn the unit power on. Does the computer go "badeep" and recognize something was plugged in? Also make sure the cable can move data and not just a charging cable.

                Seth, getting a weird error when trying to open the exe file, see screen shot. It will not let me past this. I have tried opening both items at the same time, individually, and the same error pops up.

                  Everything is extracted, you get two files when extracting the archive, skytrak data, and skytrak exe,both contained within a PC4 folder. You should be able to open the exe file, but it is not letting me.

                Thanks for this Seth. It's a big step forward as it's apparent that no sims were going to be released until you'd sorted automatic licence checks through the ST unit.

                I've had success in running this on my laptop using Windows 10 which I did a fresh install of yesterday. Hit to show delay is similar to the iPad Air 2 and might be a tad quicker at around two seconds I reckon.

                Have there been any tweaks to club distances?

                Tested on windows 10 with no problems...tried putting but did not get it to register, but after rereading the release notes of saying that update to firmware 1.35 for future putting functionality, so that must be in a future update.

                Edit 1​: Was able to boot up twice but now I am having difficulty getting ST to connect. App does load without problems sometimes having trouble recognizing name and password. Rebooted ST and App a few times and no connection. Will continue to try to see if I can get connected. I did log out of ipad app and turned off ipad to make sure no interference.

                Edit 2: After restarting my computer, I booted up the app 1st then turned on my ST and after 10 seconds it went to checking licenses and then booted up. After typing this and going back to hit a few shots I noticed unit was disconnected and green bottom light on, middle yellow light and top red light with app still looking for unit. Calling it a night.

                  Tested on Asus Vivotab Note 8 tablet (Atom Z3740 processor). It's about the size of my iPad mini running windows 8.1. Shot time took about 5 seconds. USB connected after windows took some time installing driver for USB. I didn't see any indication that the firmware was being updated nor was there a reboot, but now the about screen shows firmware at 1.35. Also wasn't sure if the gui reflects if my SkyTrak is registered. All it says is "Registered to" and underneath is a button to register. When I hit the button and fill my info, it says my SkyTrak is already registered to my 360 account. It froze initially trying to find license file. It also had issues trying to connect via network mode, but so does my ipad. I turned off the skytrak and reconnected the usb and tried again. Everything connected again and the green light was on so I could hit shots. Direct mode also worked for hitting shots as well.

                    It sounds like you may have an issue with your network, especially if the iPad has trouble too. Maybe consistency of signal?

                  I installed the software, connected to USB and it installed the driver quickly. Everything connected fine without issues. Works great! Only thing now it says I must upgrade to the Premium Package to get the views, stats and history.

                  I purchased my Skytrak (preorder) and date of purchase was October 18, 2014. So technically my Game Improvement Package should not be expired yet.

                  Seth, how do I unlock the Game Improvement Package? I registered my Skytrak in the software already. Please help! Thanks!

                  Has anyone got all the features unlocked that currently have the Game Improvement Package?

                    It may be that your game improvement package is not tied to your SkyTrak unit. I actually had the same thing happen to me with how many registrations/deactivations/mermbership changes I was doing in testing. I used SkyGolf live chat and the representative was able to link the two within a minute. So I know the process works

                  Has anyone got WGT to work with the Skytrak PC software? Is there a way to get this to work?

                    WGT is not available on PC. Maybe in the future, but their PC app is totally different as it is browser-based.

                  I have it working on a Lenovo laptop, core i5, Windows 10. Short session. Bought GIP in Dec 2014 but it doesn't recognize that I have the subscription. The Skygolf app shows i have the gip membership. Without the gip, the very basic range would not be sufficient for most people.

                  I am also experiencing some of the difficulties with the software not always recognizing the password.

                  Overall, the delay seems about the same as my iPad Air 2.

                  Thanks for the beta release Seth. This is definitely a positive development. It's amazing how much better i feel with these issues when we're officially cautioned the software is in beta.
