Update and Sneak Peak at v2.2

Hey everybody,

I'm finally back. It's been an insane last few weeks. I wanted to pop in quickly and give an update on a few things:

1) v2.2 - We had an unexpected body of development work come out of the PGA show. It had to do with how the SkyTrak unit communicates with the software and was a huge change, but it is certainly for the best and improves the connection stability. The changes we made will directly affect all of our simulation partners as well and make for a more enjoyable game play experience. I have been in contact with some of you and used your accounts to test the data sync issues - I have been successful on all accounts, syncing data in every connection scenario possible. We still have a few small items to take care of in the background and I hate to release anything on a Friday, but here's the deal - I will give you guys what I have right now for PC to play around with over the weekend. Install at your own risk and please don't call customer support on it. I'll be back on Monday to handle any and all concerns.

2) TGC - This is out of my hands. I can tell you that everything is ready on the integration side and the team is working to get it up for sale. Please don't shoot the messenger.

3) WGT - The driver distance issue has been fixed! This will be included in their next update.

4) TruGolf & Perfect Golf - I can count the number of outstanding issues on one hand. Again, I just can't personally comment on release.


I know that some of this is not what you want to hear, but please understand that while my avatar says "SkyTrak", I'm not the company and I don't control every facet of it. I'm just here to get feedback from avid golfers on our software and to try and help out whenever I can. I'd like for my role here to shift back to that as opposed to fielding questions and complaints and release dates and company practices. We've all seen first-hand that it's just not productive in the end and creates a hostile and non-constructive environment that, to be honest, isn't that fun to walk into. Those are often legitimate gripes, but there are just too many players in the game for me to make personal promises. I want to focus more on things within my control where I can provide you the most rapid, helpful, and solid response possible. I truly believe that we can and will continue to make this product better and better.

Got my ST earlier today. Hooked up to iPad, and based on what I have read here, seemed like connection was fine. I had also installed the 2.2 on my PC which was provided here. For some reason it will not allow me to log in. Have to iron out the alignment issues, but on iPad with 2.1 seemed flawless. Any suggestions on PC app log in feel free to let me know. Thanks in advance.

Can say the same. Got the ST a few days ago and had no issues getting it to work on both my iPad (Air 2) and iPhone (6plus). Works great.

SkyTrak_Seth on Windows 10 I'm getting a driver not recognized error when connecting the skytrak is there a Rhapsodo driver I need to install manually? Is Windows 10 officially supported?

I had no issues installing on Windows 10. The setup program installed all the drivers needed.

Under the SkyTrak folder (program files x86) is a driver folder....... This worked for me on my Win10 setup

Are you guys sure you are connecting over usb and not wifi? In device manager what driver is showing up for the skytrak? I have no drivers in the driver folder. Skytrak is unrecognized by Windows 10 in my setup. Extremely frustrating

To close this loop, I switched the Skytrak to a different USB port and now have a rhapsodo driver loaded. Very strange as this port is working for other devices.

I only use iOS for ST app so am unable to test if sync problems have been fixed until the iOS version comes out. So for people like me, given there are so many new features in v2.2 would it not make sense to release v2.2 for iOS now and while in the background continue to work to try to fix all potential sync issues (now w additional feedback/logs from iOS users) and when sync is finally all fixed release another v2.2.1 that addresses all sync problems?

Any thoughts on the above Seth / SkyTrak_Seth? Thanks.

i can say that seth and the gang are very close to resolving the sync issues. ive been one of the ones testing different builds on what is working and whats not. so far i havent had any luck but ive been contributing my data files to see where the issue has been at.

Has anyone had issues with the PC version locking up? Happened to me 3 times today. Was really weird. Usually after hitting a ball, it takes maybe 1 to 2 seconds to come up on screen. But today for some reason, it was taking up to 30 seconds and longer. Then the skytrak program would come up as not responding. And then an error came up saying that the game had had a failure.

I turned the laptop off each time this happened, as well as the skytrak. But the failure happened another 2 times, total of 3 failures.

After the 4th complete shutdown and restart, the whole system then worked properly for the next hour. With the shots coming up on screen really quickly, within the usual 1 to 2 seconds.

Not sure if the sync problem is the cause of this freezing or not. But my main screen still says sync in progress, please wait..

Anyone else experience this problem?

I had this happen to me during my last session. Was using for an hour or so, froze up just as you describe. Restarted and got not responding, restarted again and worked for another 45 min without issue.

Have a surf ace 3. win10.
No problem install. My unit finaly synced to 360golf.
It is around 2 sec slower, had 2.1 earlier without sync.
My problem is the distance. Starting PW 12-15meters short, driver - 25m. I am talking carry distance.
I took a wear plastic strip for stone crusher and nailed it to the mat (be sure no fat hits slowing club down) with avarage plus 2 mph. No difference.

Tekbud, Windows 10 should already come pre-loaded with the required driver for SkyTrak. But we do include the driver in c:\Program Files(x86)\SkyTrak\Driver. I was working with someone last night and they just had to use a different USB port. For some reason Windows was being finicky with the one they were trying to use. So, that's where I would start.

Been using PC version 2,2 for a week now and really like the new features. one thing I am having some issues with is freezing. it has froze on me several times where I had to alt cnl del to close the Skytak app and re open it. to get it to work. once up and running for the most part has been pretty solid. a couple times it has frozen but them comes back but the laser was for a righty when mine is defaulted to lefty. .. my distances are very close from PW -6 iron. once I get to my IDEA Hybrid 5,4,3.. seems like my distance is off on the low side.. but has been that way since day 1..
I'll try the IPAD 2.2 when it gets released and see if I have the same issues.

Weird. Where does it freeze on you? On the dashboard? In Practice? Doing anything particular? After any certain amount of time?

Have also seen a freeze when using the new practice greens... Will work for a period of time (random) and then will stop reading any shot. (Normally I can hit for several hours and it always registers every shot.) Need to turn off the ST and also exit the APP in order to get the environment working again. I utilize ST via a WIFI connection....

I have not been able to log in to the 2.2 PC since download. I enter all the log in info, but it just stays on that screen. The ST will connect via wifi only, not usb. I am assuming if I can't log on I can't use new features, as I did not find new practice green option playing as guest

Oh, are you connected directly to the unit when you try to log into the app? If so, then that's the problem. The app needs internet during that first login attempt so that it can verify your local account against your SkyGolf 360 account in the cloud. After that, the app will know it's a valid account and you won't need internet to log in.

I have tried both ways. Just with the PC connected to the Internet with no ST on, and still no access. And on my iPad I can log on to current version, but when I click on stats and history all I get are message boxes saying "upgrade to premium membership needed".

I've been using the 2.2 app since it was first posted for download, and I've noticed a couple of things..

I've had a couple of crashes at start up, prior to connection and license check come up.

I had several sessions fail to sync, on looking at them in History, the data for all the shots are there, but they haven't synched at all to Skygolf 360. The one that fail to synch all show a session length of 0 minutes in the History screen, but they do not seem to cause the old, dreaded Failed to Synch message... SkyTrak_Seth is it possible that finishing the practice session by closing the window with the upper right "X", rather than Exit Session causes this ?

Lastly, I've just noticed today that my white shaft irons are now picked up when placing the ball on the laser dot, rather than having to place it to the right. Not sure whether the processing has changed, but it always used to be a 100% fail rate in the past, so, that's a good thing.

Ha, nope we didn't change anything with the image processing. But we have made a lot of changes to sync since I posted that (and the crash for that matter). Stay tuned either today or tomorrow.
