Shot delay time

Guys,
I have just got my Skytrak and love it.
I have read here that the average time between taking the shot and then registering it on the Skytrak app is approx' 3 seconds.
Mine is at least 10 seconds. Is that correct and is there anything I can do?

it really depends on the device that you connected with the skytrak
if you use the newest ipad pro, it's should be just 1-2 sec
on the other hand, if u use the old ipad (before air 1) it will take longer

Are you using wifi? I noticed this happening to me at times as well in the garage with the wifi extender plugged into an outlet toward the back of the room. Moved it to the front of the garage (closer to the house where the actual router is) and got a much better connection and no more of the super long delays like that. I would check connection strength first.......if you are using wifi......if youre using usb then im not sure.

At the moment I'm using 'direct' wifi mode because the skytak cannot pick up the wifi signal reliably. I'll buy an extender.
I'm also using the ipad 3 retina.

I have an ipad 2 mini with retina and as long as my connection was strong I got similar delay times as I see my dad getting after we just got him a skytrak and he has one of the newer ipad airs. So while kits013 is right and the processing power does play a role in the delay time as well, I think as long as you are using and ipad of some sort and not and iphone you should be alright.

why not try using direct connection with the ipad and ST?

Yep, you'll find the same thing if you direct connect with a USB cable as well. I've done some testing at home with several laptops and PC's I have. The current laptop I connect with is an i5 with 4gig ram and onboard video, the laptop only has USB 2 ports. Delay is about 2 seconds. But we tested it with an old gaming desktop PC, that had an old quad core Q9600 processor, but using a dedicated GE Force graphics card and also connected using the USB 3 port and the wait time for the shot tracer and data was about 0.5 to 1 second at the most.

Im thinking that the USB 3 connection makes a big part of the difference.

I think you will always get missed shots. Look at the cost of GC2 with HMT... That still misses shots and costs way more than skytrak.

If I get 2 missed shots in a row, I turn the skytrak off. Exit out of the skytrak program. Turn the skytrak back on and then restart the skytrak program and all is usually quite fine after that. Something else I found makes a big difference was that I painted a wooden panel a mat-black colour and then placed the board behind me, like a hitting bay separator panel. This reduced the missed shots to nearly zero. As in I might get 2 missed shots in a two hour practice session. But also just make sure you can see that the laser is on, before you take a swing. Just look at the unit and you will see the laser reflecting if it is on or not. If it it is off, just wait a few secs and it usually comes back on and then you are right to take a swing.

has anyone else got near 1 second delay time? i am interested to know this as i will make my purchase soon... and as small as it sounds, i don't want a 3-5 second delay... just frustrate me more than anything

What am I missing guys I have about a 4 second delay with the app but TGC is Crazy 15 seconds. Could it be my video card?? Gtx 760 i5 4690 16gb ram ssd drive HELP

i would put a 85% chance that is the issue. the video card is really not doing you any favors thats for sure.

i took mine to the range 3 days ago and got 1 sec delay with usb to a laptop. i did notice that the worst the ball was the longer it took to display the shot. also, direct sunlight didn't help and i only got consistent shots when the clouds gave shade.

i find that direct with usb cable is faster than direct wifi and that my laptop is about 1 sec faster than my ipad mini 2. i never connect over the wifi in the house as i always had sporadic issues.

Thanks guys I have been on wifi and direct with same results Skytrak app is 4 seconds which I can live with. But TGC is unplayable right now takes the fun out of the game waiting 15 seconds for every shot. I'm going to be doing a little more research and testing I will post my results

i run an i5 @ 2.66, 8GB ram & a GTX 960.

Runs fine. 2.5 second delay, wifi. Same delay with both the skytrak app & tgc.

it is something else imo.

just saw the ipad reference. ipad 3 is technical not supported. i get a 10 sec delay with it also if I use it. 2.5 sec off my iphone 6, same with pc.
