SkyTrak PC v2.5 Pre-Release

Hi all,

I want to go ahead and get this out to you before the official release of v2.5. Just as whenever I've done this before, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT with any issues/questions regarding this release. I will do my best to manage everything here on the forum - ideally in this thread. There may be a few things that will change before the official release (small stuff like defaulting to follow the ball view for the Skills Assessment), but this is pretty much it. Also keep in mind that for right now, all greens inherit the same ground condition as is set for the fairway, so set that accordingly during the Skills Assessment (just like you do now for Practice Greens). FYI, green mapping with separate firmness will follow v2.5 very quickly - this will apply everywhere in the app.

V2.5 Release Notes

- Game Improvement module added to the main dashboard - featuring the brand new Skills Assessment
- Added 4 new data parameters to Shot History: Max Height, Angle of Descent, Flight Time, and PTI (Smash Factor)
- Added new ‘Dynamic Handicap’ scoring system within Skills Assessment
- Slight adjustment to 45 degree camera view to now include entire ball flight
- Added quick ‘Return To Range’ button for all menus
- Improved carry distances for low launch/low spin shots
- Database refactoring
- Numerous bug fixes and behind-the-scenes work.

Wow great new feature - I'm so pumped to get a Skytrak, although the thing holding me back is only being able to use foam balls for my current setup.

Any chance of supporting foam balls as an option in the future? I'm hoping it would just imply a tweak to the ball speed and spin. I think a lot of others are probably limited to foam balls but would love to get a Skytrak. Even if it would imply a certain brand of foam ball, and accepted that it would be as accurate but still good enough...

Don't worry, get a bunch of qolf limited flight balls. I am using them in my all glass sun-room with a 6 foot SKLZ portable net and getting amazing results. Skytrak reads them very well and there doesn't seem to be any distance penalty. Last night I had several 270 yard drives which is definitely at my upper limit. I suspect the spin numbers are down a little compared to a high quality regular ball, I was only getting around 6000 on my 8i but the shot shaping seems very true. It will definitely show any slice or hook. I haven't missed my net which is only 5 ft from where I am hitting but I am not worried at all about breaking a window. A side benefit is that you don't have to worry about a shank breaking you Skytrack unit. Just be sure to pick them all up when you are done, dogs love to chew them up.

I use Almost Golf balls sometimes, and they register just fine with the ST. Shot shape seems to be as expected, although distances are likely a bit short compared to a real ball.

hi SkyTrak_Seth am i missing if it is carry distance or total distance for the final shot reading?! I am not sure - and is it possible to select one of each of the other to target for the test? I dont see it mentioned here - as said i may have missed it though.

We are using total right now. I can see about choosing carry/total in the future.

why doesn't it set the firmness to soft since we are shooting at greens (or give an option to set it)? it is a royal pain to go back to driving range to reconfigure from firm to soft and then go back.

You can set the firmness in settings now and it will stay that way I thought I hinted to it in my notes, but the follow-up release to this will have the greens mapped to their own separate firmness from the rest of the range.

Guys, I'll see about adding some sort of factor for foam/almost golf balls, but that's probably down the road a bit. If you have general requests like that, please put them in the Features/Requests thread that is stickied at the top of the SkyTrak forum. That makes tracking those requests much easier!

How long till the official release? I'm still debating whether to download now or wait for the official release. It doesn't look like the beta version has any serious bugs.

Awsome - good to hear and I'll add the Requet to the thread suggested. Thanks to others for feedback, knowing what results to expect.

Looks like I have no excuse for not getting one right away with the potential that foam ball support may only improve over time...

Ok... Bug time...

not or sure if anyone else has had this problem.

but here is the scenario...

hit it a few shots on the driving range...
then decide to set up a practice green to hit to...

once the the green is setup, I return to the driving range and ...

i hit hit the replay button. Which replays the last shot I did before I setup the practice green. The replay works, but the whole thing freezes after the ball lands in the replay screen. The laser dot from skytrak is still lit up on the hitting mat. I've tried hitting another ball, but it doesn't rest the screen back to the normal driving range.

i have to quit out of skytrak by clicking on the cross in the top right corner of the screen. Then turn skytrak off and back on again. Then start up skytrak and log back in again and then everything is working again.

Also... Forgot to mention that when this problem happens. On the skytrak, the top light turns red and the bottom two lights are still green.

I just want to have a practice method where I can pick a distance range and green size and then have it randomly pick a distance in those ranges until I tell it to stop. For example, select 5 to 220 yards so I can work on all approach distances. Next time select 20 to 100 yards to work on pitch shots.i don't want to be limited to a predefined number of shots (like 3). I could practice with a method like this for an hour.

The skills assessment is great! After just two rounds of 3 shots each, I can see distances at which I am consistently better than others. Perfect for planning layup locations during rounds and figuring out shots to work on in practice.

I just experienced something....and I haven't had it happen before.

I go into the skills assessment and the dot goes to righty (i'm lefty). I checked all my settings and rebooted but it still converts. I'm able to still use the driving range with ease.

Hello.
Looking for some troubleshooting tips.
Having an issue getting a connection between pc laptop, prerelease 2.5 & the ST. I have installed the USB driver as well & tried USB cable connection.
I am running the latest firmware and have no issue with Ipad connecting in direct or network mode.
This is a borrowed laptop running Windows 7. quadcore
No issue getting PR2.5 installed.
Some intermittent issues with login through the app.
I have been unable to get the ST connected with usb, direct or network. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

this new release is a game changer . i cant wait to get my handicap down...of course its spot on too,
