  • Skytrak 2?

    Hi guys,

Apologies, I'm sure this has been asked before. The only thing stopping me purchasing is the delay between hitting and seeing the ball flight. This isn't an issue if using at an outdoor range but i'm looking to setup an indoor practice facility for the winter and for me is a deal breaker.

Even the ES16 has a long (imo) delay before displaying the data, the only ball measuring unit system i've seen with near instant displaying of the shot is the GC2.

Why is there such a delay?

Will there be a Skytrak 2 coming out that solves this (for me) issue?

Skytrak looks very accurate and well priced but i'd be very interested in a Skytrak that was faster to display the shot.

Anyone able to offer any words? SkyTrak_Seth

    Thanks

Not sure why this is being presented as such a big deal (not just by you, but by numerous people)? By the time you finish your swing follow through and then step back its pretty much displaying? Its certainly not worth the extra cash on GC2 purely for this reason of displaying an 1-1.5 secs quicker? I think most people that have said this is an issue are (predominantly) people that don't own/use a SkyTrak? You couldn't hit balls any quicker on a GC2 as by the time you'd got a ball and put in position to hit, the SkyTrak is ready to go anyway. I quite like being able to properly finish the swing and then be able to see the full shot. Obviously this is all my opinion and each to their own and all that.

Takes approx' 10 seconds to display a shot on my ipad retina and the same on my old laptop.

With better hardware, this can be reduced significantly.

Wow - 10 seconds? Mine is 3-4 tops. Not an issue whatsoever for me.

If you're willing to pay several thousand dollars extra to cut down the wait time by getting a GC2, why not just spend a small portion of that and get a better computer instead? My delay is only 2-3 seconds. It's not a big deal at all. And my laptop was less than $500, used.

If waiting 3 seconds for a shot is a deal breaker, then you've already made up your mind, go with a GC2. The delay is actually helping me since i've been able to focus on not pulling my head up early.

For 3x the cost, you will get quicker shot to show, larger fov and a unit that is much better for use outdoors. If you aren't going to use it outdoors or eventually pair it with the hmt, i don't see the first two items as big enough reasons for holding you back from a skytrak.

          To each their own!

had a 10sec delay on my ipad 3. it's the ipad. switched to my iphone 6 and it reduced to 3 seconds. using my pc now. similar delay, 2-3 secs tops.

bothers me zero percent and i'm extremely impatient when it comes to pc's.

Yeah, we don't even support iPad 3

Mine is about 3 seconds on my surface 3 pro. I can't even get the ball from the net back on the matt before it displays. Not sure why you need to hit in such a rapid fashion anyways most teachers would tell you to take time between shots, take a few practice swings and go through your on course routine. I'm very happy with the accuracy and speed of the hardware especially for the price.

To the OP. regarding your question I don't think you are going to see a Skytrak 2 any time soon. So you'll probably have to accept the Skytrak shot delay or use a different system.

Also you said only systems without a significant delay is the gc2. Have you looked at the Protee system? It's been a while since I've hit on one but i don't recall it having delays like the Skytrak. It seemed similar to the gc2.

Finally, i can see why you don't like the Skytrak's delay. It is pretty long. On my buddies system it runs about 3.5 seconds which breaks the simulation for me but he has learned to live with it. Maybe it is something one can get used to? Every system has its tradeoffs.

The delay on my system is less than 1.5 seconds... using a high speed Micro USB cable into USB3 ports on my PC that is running 8gig RAM and a dedicated Geforce Video Card. Old Processor - quad core Asus Q9600 .

Slower on the ipad... maybe 2 to 2.5 seconds.

Yonexman do you plug an usb 3.0 adaptor into the skytrak or does it already come with usb 3.0?

Like others have said 2-3 seconds delay for me as well.

YonexMan thanks for the reply do you have a video of your Skytrak in action, would like to see what this looks like. When looking online i'm seeing a 3-4 seconds delay.

For ME that is fine as a practice tool but i'd would like something quicker for simulation. I'm not saying i'm correct and you guys are wrong just me preference.

I'm about 2 seconds of delay. Doesn't bother me at all.

I think there is a pretty good sample size here that avg is 3 seconds maybe a little faster based on HW. Don't they offer a 30 day money back guarantee so if it was too unbearable for you just send it back.
