  • E6 Connect

My understanding from the merchandise show is that e6 golf has a completely new system called - e6 Connect which is a major upgrade and now has a cloud based monthly service - does anyone have any more details on this or a release date for this? Will current subscribers be able to upgrade for free then incur the monthly fee?

  • #31
I think the last upgrade I paid for was about 3 years ago for the E6 1.6. Paid $1350 for the upgrade & got every course pack included. Did not feel cheated. I'm hoping for the best as I move to the subscription model. There are enough of my golf buddies that use the simulator and they don't mind chipping in to cover cost going forward.

That's not a bad deal if you got every course included.
Getting only 12 or 15 courses for $1800 is terrible IMO.

See, they have a room for improvement for this e6 connect upgrade too. $600/3yrs for 5-6 courses for the next 6 months? Nonsense.

I've been told 27 courses at launch & over 50 by the end of the year. The only reason I don't use the simulator more often in the summer is because it's not at my home. I didn't have room so it's at a golf buddy's garage.

Trugolf has always treated me fairly as far as I'm concerned. $1350 for the upgrade & about 75 courses that I've been playing over the last 3 years. I just can't complain about that.

My only reservation going forward is the amount of content in the beginning of the E6 Connect launch. Was wondering if I should hold off until end of the outside golf season. Might be more content. Also if I start subscription now I will be basically throwing away the first 6 months of the first subscription year since simulator doesn't get much use in the summer months.

I will hold off until next year since TGC2019 is coming out too.

The lack of play during the summer months is the exact reason the subscription model doesn't belong on golf simulation software. Unless of course you like paying for something you are not using then it's totally cool.

Yeah, you're speaking for yourself though. Lots of us use it year round. I play outside once a week maybe twice if I'm lucky with my other commitment at home. My wife doesn't mind me leaving for an hour to the backyard to play. 5 hours 3-4 times a week won't fly.

Is that like paying for a set of golf clubs but living in a climate where you can use them only half the year. Essentially paying for something you're not using.

I almost always warm up on the sim before heading to the golf course. It tells me what swing thought I'll need...lol

When it is released, they promise new content and 4 new courses annually. This is included in the 300/year package. The major difference I see between this and the $600/year package is you can use all the courses. However, they have only redone 27 courses to date, so why would someone pay the full $600 in the first year. Owning the base and all courses (90 +), I will see if I can get the first year at $300, then maybe if E6 Connect is successful, I would continue with the $600 per year, but hopefully the $300/year at minimum.

Off topic, but with the Quad's bluetooth being enabled for the ipad app., I would love to see someone reverse engineer or find a way to use the Quad with other 3rd party software. Currently, I have E6, TGC, & FSX. I like them all, but E6 is my favorite to date. Personally, I just want to see the consumer industry stick it to Foresight!!!!!!!!

I would buy the Quad tomorrow if it could be rigged to non-foresight software like the GC2

I think we can only help the deal for those of us with all the courses will be reasonable. However, I am not holding my breath and am expecting to be disappointed, as for me they are just bringing out what was promised initially (and what I felt I was paying for) many years ago. The only thing I see as different today is 4K, which for me is not worth it at this time and I should also note that if they continue to use their “tiles” (what I review to as the 2d image of say green versus rough versus something else), then I think it is just going to look horrible. One of the biggest things I like about TGC is that everything seems to be developed in 3D such that you can see realistically when the image goes from one type of grass to another.

Those textures in E6 esp the grass of which you speak should be done much better, it looks like Halo 2 2004 level of ground texture graphics. I fully agree I want to see a lush 3d rendering in E6 connect. I stared closely at the E6 Connect demos and I'm afraid I see only more of the same but higher-resolution crappy flat textures. It's hard to know for sure but if so that is a fail.

Apparently this product has been "Slow released" whatever that means. If anyone calls the Trugolf sales associates and gets any info, please update us on what they tell you.

slow to release but not slow to take your money. This is TruGolfs track record. I wouldn't expect that anything has changed. It will come but who knows when and it may not be as great as touted ( ie E6 2.0 oh wait it was 1.6 ). This just seems to be the business practice of the higher cost simulation software. The images looks nice but so did E6 2.0, where did that go anyway?

Video posted to their Facebook today showing a little footage and some features. How can a software have a limited release? Either it's available or it is not lol.

Unless they change the price structure this will not go anywhere. It is not year 2005 anymore. Consumers know how to search and compare products. E6 is doing just like what ES20/20 is doing. If you don’t have a product to showcase it won’t do anything.

There are so many alternative sim software now that offers cheaper pricing and so much better online features. I can’t wait to see what the result will be without pleasing and satisfying old and loyal customers.

Totally agree, if you can appease your existing customers then they will go elsewhere. Way more options now.

Did you end up selling your E6 1.6? Saw you listed it a few weeks back.

No not yet, but with bluetooth appearing on the quad I'm not sure I want to yet.

Unless there is a workaround, I doubt Foresight will allow for BT connection, just like how Trackman only operates via Wifi. But just like Trackman again, Foresight can allow other simulators by connecting to Wifi too. They'll rather open up Wifi than BT though.

I will sell mine soon. It’s been a nightmare dealing with sales over at e6 (I wonder if CEO at Trugolf even monitors how they pitch to customers). No formal email from them about apologizing for not promising what they were supposed to deliver either.

Aside from saying he’s sorry I felt that way (then what am I supposed to feel, lick them and say we love you when they promised previous customers will get a hefty discount but didn’t? lol), all I heard from them was saying:

            1) how great the product is where no other software can even come close (some 1980’s sales pitch lol. No there are better software out there already)
            2) how they have a waiting list for hundreds of customers (sure I should’ve been one of them but doesn’t mean you will buy it because how they screwed us)
            3) and that losing one customer is not a big deal because they will eventually come back to e6 (I laughed really hard at that. They think they’re Trackman lol).

In reality software like TGC, JNPG are kicking its ass in online multiplayer. Hard to justify $2500 price point at that.

Looks like it might be a couple of weeks more..........not surprised. The software rollout, which will probably happen sometime in April, will not be available to protee users just yet. So those of us using GC2 or protee, will have to wait a while longer. I got them to waive the $2,500 fee, but would have to do a 2 year membership for $600/year. I could buy this in October or November and the actual subscription will not start until Jan. 1, 2019 because that is when they plan all the courses to be done.
The golf sim software industry is something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy!

$1200 upgrade fee, a big laugh at that. And you even have all courses lmao. They need to give you free 2yr subscription, not $600/yr for 2 years lol.

Did they waive it because you're an existing E6 1.6 owner? Wondering what they'll try to charge for new buyers of the software.

$2500 is for new user and that’s without a subscription lol.

            • #43
LEO MODE is correct. It is $2500 base if you don't have any of the software. If you have E6 Base pack I believe they discount it to $1500, but you still need the subscription of either $300 or $600 per year. So I bypass the $2500, but still do have to pay $1200 to upgrade by getting 2 years. I would be happy if I could do it a year at a time and didn't have to pay the base. We'll see!

I'm not sure I understand the entitlement that LEO MODE is feeling as far as the E6 Connect upgrade is concerned. I also have all the courses which I got 3 years ago when I bought the E6 1.6 upgrade for $1350. I feel as though I definitely got my money's worth. Just because I already own all the courses for E6 1.6 I don't expect to be given everything for free when I upgrade to E6 Connect. When I buy new software I always have to pay full price. When I upgrade software to newer version I usually get a break on the price. That is what Trugolf is doing. That being said they are offering existing customers a great deal as far as I'm concerned.

For existing customers If you commit to 2-3 year subscription at $50 a month you get the new E6 Connect software with improved physics & graphics etc for no additional cost. 27 courses at launch with over 50 by the end of the year. $1200 spread out over 2 years for new software is less than I paid 3 years ago. If you want even more bang for your buck wait til end of the year to upgrade & they'll have even more content for the same price.

I don't mind paying for new software but having to pay for add-ons such as courses that you already paid for is a rip off IMO. I'm sure the E6 connect is probably worth about $1000 based on what every other software brings to the table but thw that's all I'd pay for everything included. Charging over $3000 For the software and courses is straight robbery and I can't even believe people pay that much.

If you're saying for new customers the deal is far less enticing, I agree. New customers may have to pay $2500 for software & then pony up for subscription. Yeah I can see where that's a really tough sell.

Much better deal for existing customers. I can get the new updated software & every course they have made or will make for 2 year subscription commitment. Basically $50 a month. No Paying for any add-ons as far as I can tell.

              • #45
And I am not sure whether if Johnnybill is entitled to working at or related with e6, as he shows his true intent by advocating really hard in the very last post, along with his 4 posts that was made just in this very post by joining this forum this very month. If you are not then more power to you.

Can’t make it too obvious sometimes. If Trugolf is reading this, stop black-marketing it by using cheap tactics like this and seriously consider lowering the price.
