  • Ok so the 750ti would fit in those parameters then correct? If I went with a intell i5 cpu does the number after matter?

    Comment

    • No the 50 is lower than 60 or 70. The first number is the generation, or how new the card is.

The second number generally indicates performance, with a higher number being better.

      So a 750 is newer than a 660, but slower. A 680 is faster than a 750, but older.

      • ok I see how that works with NVidia graphics card, is it the same with the processors? I see the intel I5 and 7 listed with numbers after them do I have to worry about them also?
obviously im not great with computers I read a lot on the internet, but with all the information out there and not really understanding all the computer jargon it gets confusing for me, give me a good old classic car and I can fix and build it with my eyes closed. but computers are all greek to me. thanks for all your help on those questions everyone

        • i5 and i7 processors are similar. First number is generation. The next 3 numbers are speed. I won't get into the 3 numbers as it even confuses me sometimes. Each generation usually has different rules to the last 3 numbers. The letter K at the end mean unlocked multiplier ( for overclocking). which as time goes on is less and less important. Here is a pretty good guide to buying a cpu. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cpus,3986.html You can't go wrong going with what they suggest for the budget you set for yourself.

                • Hey guys, do you think this laptop could run TGC smoothly?

                  Asus Rog G751JT
                  i7 2.5GHz
                  GeForce 970M 3GB
                  24GB DDR3L RAM

At first glance I think it should be sufficient but sometimes the specs to run a game on a laptop may be different than a desktop.

Primarily, the GeForce 970M seems to be comparable to the 960 instead of the 970.

                    Try understanding economics.

That laptop setup is literally double the price of the one I mentioned. 2600 v 1300.

To quote the relevant part of the post: We have an MSI Laptop, i7 with an 880m card.

Until finding GPU Boss (website) it was hard to compare different generation GPUs.

970M is better than the 880M so it should work fine. Thanks!

                • It should run. It's a known fact that TGC was designed to have settings waaaaay more than needed. The laptop won't run smoothly on full settings but they are totally unnecessary.

thank you - as long as it looks good in 1080p that's fine.

4k projectors are a bit outside of my price range unless the Eagles hire me to fill in as their 5th running-back.

                • Hey Guys just wanted to say thanks for all the advice on computers, I got the wife convinced to buy one that should work the Lenovo Y900 gaming desktop tower with intel I7 6400 and gtx 960 graphics card couldn't get her to spend for the 980 I tried though, anyway thanks for all the help will post how well it works when I get it up and running

                  • Please do, I would think the 960 or 970 should run this game well enough. Hard to justify spending 500 for a gtx 980.
I have a similar system as yours but it came with the gtx 745/ 4 gb
It can only run on low to med settings to stay in 30 ish fps.
I thought it would be an ok stock card cause it handled the perfect golf beta pretty well. Also no problem maxing out protee and foresight courses. Actually it plays just about every other game decently. TGC is way more demanding..

I watched a YouTube video compare two 970's sli vs a 980 with battlefield hardline. It about doubled the fps over a 980., Two 970s would be the way to go if they ever added the feature for tgc..

                    • ok I said I would let you all know how the new computer worked, computer does everything I want, It runs the graphics card is more than up to the task that I can tell, the only time I glitched on me was when I ran the software on high res and maxed out all the graphics I could in the settings just to give it a try. so again thanks for all the help on getting the right computer for the system, now if I can just get the cameras to stay working properly it will be a lot more fun

Are your cameras connected via USB 2.0? I have a GSA system and had to switch to USB 3.0 to get both cameras to work all the time. The cameras are USB 2.0 but they run better plugged into 3.0. You can pick up USB 3.0 expansion cards for about 25 bucks. Cameras work better if they are on different ports. One on the motherboard and one on an expansion card.

                    • Hey Keither, the problem I have been having with them is only that they don't keep the settings when I get them reading properly, I have a scheduled session with protee support for them to set them for me, hopefully then they will keep things .

                      • Recently purchased and now playing the TGC with GC2. I am trying to to maximize my settings. One issue is that on GSX interface I am unable to get into settings (has an X on right corner). Unsure why unable to change settings.

I have a WUXGA projector (plenty of lumens) and a PR-100 screen. Thus unable to maximize projector or screen further. Of course could get a 4K projector but price needs to drop quite a bit before these are purchased.

Now I am looking at my computer. Below are my specs:
                        • SuperMulti DVD Burner
                        • 2GB AMD Radeon R9 270 [2xDVI, HDMI, DP, DVI to VGA adapter]
                        • HP WLAN 802.11 ac 2x2 DB MCard BT WIDI
                        • 3TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
                        • HP ENVY Phoenix 810st Desktop PC
                        • 3rd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K processor hexa-core [3.4GHz, 12MB Shared Cache]
                        • 16GB DDR3-1600MHz [2 DIMMs]
                        • Windows 8.1 64

                        Protee's TGC video card requirements: 1) minimum Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD Radeon 7850 w/ 2GB ; 2) recommended Nvidia GTX 970 2GB

One can go to various websites and see side by side comparisons of the above cards. Based on gpuboss.com comparisons, I get the following results:

                        A) Radeon R9 270 performs better than Radeon 7850
                        B) Radeon R9 270 performs mildly better than the GTX 660
                        C) Nvidia GTX 970 performs mildly better than the Radeon R9 270.

                        Questions:

                        1) Do you think I would have any significant benefit in upgrading to a different video card? If your answer is yes, what specifics improvements would I see with a different video card?

                        2) Perhaps this is a Protee support inquiry, and I will contact them, but why am I unable to get into settings on the GSX interface?

A $400 card is not mildly better than a $200 card. The 970 will see about 50% increase in FPS compared to the 270. The GTX 970 is the best value for the dollar. The R9 270 would be the bare minimum for TGC. I have tried the following cards with TGC ..... GTX 980ti, GTX 970, GTX 680 4GB. Will the 270 run TGC? Yes, but if you have the extra money buy the 970. If HB studios optimizes the game better for PC, you may be happy that you chose the 970. TGC is also a game that runs incredible at 60 FPS and quite choppy at 30-35FPS. The rest of your computer looks good. I have gamed for a long time and have found that it is always better to get the recommended specs or exceed them rather than the minimum specs.

                      • Thanks for the insight. If I wanted to future proof my computer what video card would you recommend.
