I am leaning towards the EVGA GTX 970 super clocked ( about 10%) with AC2.0 cooling. They are factory overclocked and run cool and quiet. http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX55071 (prices are in Cnd). I have had great luck with EVGA GTX series.

That card is the best value for the dollar. Anything above that you are getting into diminishing returns. I have a EVGA GTX 980ti. I wouldn't recommend that card because of the cost. If you have lots of money get the GTX 980ti. I only bought it because I won some money playing poker and I was curious how high I could turn the settings. Poker money usually goes where it is not noticed by the wife.

Probably beyond spectrum of forum but will inquire anyway. Is it possible to change out video card and increase wattage in a computer such as mine (HP)? I assume physical space must be available to house the new video card and power source. Also will a new video card and power supply be compatible with computer's existing components. I will ask HP but interested in your opinion. This I am unsure if I could upgrade my current HP. Thanks.

The 970 requires a minimum of a 500 watt power supply. Depending on which 970 you purchase, they may have different dimensions. Power supplies are not too difficult to change out. Don't worry about compatibility. You won't have an issue. Don't try that video card with less than 500 watts. Buying parts that fit in your case is what you need to worry about. You may have to get some power adapter cables. The 970 usually needs two 6 pin. Many off the shelve computers will not have extra 6 pin cables. Any computer store or Amazon will be able to help.

If the 970 won't fit inside your case, a new case is not that much extra. It's just extra work changing all of the parts over. All parts, motherboard, hard drives, Dvd drives, are all standard sizes so they will fit in any case. You can get a gamer's case for as little as $70.

I upgraded to the Nvidia GTX 970 and exchanged my PSU for the EVGA 750 W. 750 W is overkill but it was on sale and had much better reviews than the 650. It has made a huge difference. On my old card I was not able to use my projectors' native resolution of 1920 x 1200 - now I can use this resolution with high quality. Previously unable to get sound now I can. Unsure why graphics card would change this. I have read yours and others regarding optimal tree count/distance, object quality, etc; thus I am still playing around with this. Thanks

You will have no problems. Smoothly? Opinions will differ on smoothly. Some on the forum like 35+FPS whereas I prefer 55+ FPS. Luckily TGC has a great many graphics adjustments. You will be able to get smoothly with those specs.

If the company lets you choose brand of GTX 970, I would go with EVGA 970 SSC (factory super clocked ) with AC 2.0 cooling. http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX55557 Prices are CND. Factory over clock will get you a few more FPS. TGC is not very hard on CPU and ram, so you are good there.

Start at ... graphics on high, detail level 1 ( nobody can even tell the difference between 1 and 5) Trees distance and number at 1/3 of max. Then test your FPS using fraps or shadowplay ( free software coming with the video card) From there on, it will be a personal preference. I like 55+ because the panning gets choppy while the ball is landing at times if you have 30 FPS. I have mine set so I get a solid 55+ and a steady 60FPS.... 95% of the time.

Hi would anyone be able to give me a link for a desktop with screen (or good desktop and separate screen deal) that will run TGC in a good resolution? To be honest I don't know that much about the technical side of computers at all but now because I'm setting up a home simulator with a GC2 will get TGC but don't want to have it lagging. My budget is around $2k out the door, or maybe that's asking for a bit much.

I have read many posts about what specs are recommended then another post saying its not that great so I'm confused.

GTX 980ti requires a minimum of 600 watts, there are a few of them that require 700 watts. FYI..... HP allows you to build one with only a 500 watt PSU. It will work fine until you run TGC. HP will have a lot of pissed of customers if they ship with 500 watt PSU.

I play on a i7 2600k @3.4GHz 16GB of ram. GTX980ti, 500GB SSD. Even though my PC is 2nd gen i7. It will have higher FPS than the computer in the newegg link because of the high end video card. That being said, the GTX 970 is the best value for the dollar. When you say screen, are you meaning impact screen?

Thanks. No I meant US dollar. Screen I meant a screen for the desktop. Any I look at are desktop only. I'm sure the screen isn't a big deal since it's going to be projected onto the impact screen. I have an Epson powerlite 400. Hope it works ok also

I ordered my desktop tower only from Walmart it is a Lenovo with I7 6700 8Gb expandable to 32 with the nvida Gforce gtx 960 ran me just shy of 1200 usd the only thing I wish it had was a few more usb ports but those are easy enough for a technology challenged person like me to install. the only time I had issues with graphics was when I maxed every thing out just to see what it would do, I run on high with settings in the tgc set for medium

They're comparing their branded GTX card to a GTX 860M mobile card. That would put it somewhere bellow a GTX 750. It should work, but not anywhere near high settings. It's basically equivalent to a 5 year old gaming laptop.

Generally, a company will re-brand something like this just so they don't have to reveal the actual model number. It usually means they're trying to pull a fast one over on the consumer. It's definitely a lower end GTX card.

I looked seriously at ailenware when looking at computers the issue I had was once I spec'd one out to run TGC with out question the price was closer to 1800$usd. The cases didn't allow for easy expansion or upgrades down the road if needed with out getting pricey, which is why I made my choice of a full sized tower with expansion slots

Is this a serious question? Your specs state that you already have a GTX970. Why would you switch?
Read keither's post about the 980. Even he said that it's overkill.

Yes a serious question. Yes I have reviewed and read all threads germane to GTX 980 Ti including keither's, and others, insightful responses. Perhaps this question is not in the appropriate thread. That is my bad. My specific question regarding using the GTX 980 Ti in relation to my computer's specs is not for TGC but for other golf simulation software.

If it can run the gtx970, it can run the gtx980.

This thread relates to TGC so your serious question is not really in the right place. There are forums that deal with graphics cards as well as manufacturer's websites with relevant technical information.
