I currently have an HP Elitebook 8570w laptop that has a PCI express slot. The graphics with TGC are choppy. Rather than do a new desktop what about doing this???

Throttle that looks like a nightmare - you would need one, maybe 2 portable power supplies depending on what card you install - Your $$$$ graphics card will be exposed the the elements and your one touch away from an ESD event would make it into a desktop fan - You may toast your laptop.......Would be a wiring birdsnest -- Even then I still doubt you could run TGC at satisfactory frame rates.

Put yourself together a nice low budget AMD gaming rig, you can probably do it for around 600-700 bucks

Just installed a GeForce GTX 670 4G superclocked card. Seems to add a big boost to my performance.

Nice, I have the same card but not clocked as high. You running TGC on high detail with object at 3?

Yes. It runs well at 3. I went up from a ATI 7770. Cost me only $160 fo the card, very slightly used.

The prospects of building a custom PC are a little daunting to me (you guys are an impressive bunch!). With Black Friday coming up I'm thinking of purchasing an off-the shelf PC for future support of ProTee sim, with the expectation that I'd have to at least upgrade the Video Card. From what I've gathered from this forum, are these the specs I should be sure to have with a pre-built?

• OS: Windows 8.1
• Processor: Intel Core i5 or better
• 8GB RAM
• 750W or higher power supply (minimum 600W) - this seems to be the most difficult to find
• 4 USB Slots
• HDMI out

Anything else I should be sure to consider? Or would you recommend taking one of your spec lists to a place like TigerDirect and have them custom build for me?

I think a good graphics card is something you would really need. I think you would be hard pressed to find the 670 card mentioned above, as they are now on the 970, which I hear is a really good card for the price, but likely $100 more than what most are willing to pay for a good card.

If you're not able or willing to try to build it yourself (it's really not difficult at all; lots of youtube videos to walk you through it) I'd take one of our specs and have it built.

Tough to find an off the shelf pc on black Friday that will have a good 750+W PS. The 970 sounds nice but man, that's big money. I'm currently looking on Ebay for another 670 to SLI.

Will the game benefit and allow 2 video cards? Big performance boost with the second card?

Yes, TGC will work with 2 cards. I've read on HB forums where folks have gained a 50% improvement in FPS. This is cheaper than buying a GTX780 and hopefully yield the same amount of improvement. Just got to have a motherboard, case, and PS big enough to handle 2 cards. My 800W PS should be able to do it.
