I know there's a lot of threads like this but here we go... I have a 1080P projector setup ready to go for TGC and am trying to determine if it makes sense to push for a 1070 video card over a 1060 in a gaming laptop by MSI or ASUS... The difference in price between those cards in a laptop is usually about $300-400. I'm trying to future-proof myself so this setup will last me a few years. Will I even notice the difference visually on a projected screen between the two? I can score a pretty solid 1060 laptop for around $1200-1400 and a 1070 will push me to $1600-1800... I'm going the laptop route because I'm due for a new one anyways and WILL do some gaming on what I buy when I walk it into my home office and plug it into my 24" monitor/keyboard/mouse...

I can't speak for the laptop side but on a desktop I can pretty much max TGC out on GTX1060 with no noticeable artifacting or lag. If you have the spare cash you wouldn't be doing yourself a disservice to future proof and move up to the GTX1070. -

I kinda narrowed it down to the Asus 1070 laptop (502VS) and the MSI 1070 laptop (GT62VR)... Asus is slimmer/lighter but has heat issues... the MSI is beefier but cools better.. totally torn!Originally posted by branover View PostComment

I am in the same boat as OP.... looking for a gaming laptop (1070) for skytrak/TGC and future proof. Will be in garage, so will go portable route rather than desktop.
I have always been an Apple guy, but clearly need to change for gaming. Got my son a lower spec gaming laptop last year thinking we could share while I tested out TGC....but seems may be issues with subsequent transfer of skytrak/TGC licence to another laptop ID.... and unlikely to get much of a look in while he uses it anyway 😉
Asus, msi, razer.... all seem good and more than sufficient.... and being a laptop will also mean can get use of it outside of my golf sim as well..
Either way, looks like $1600-1900 on its way to Best Buy at the weekend!! 😱

I have also been testing various laptops with the Steam version of TGC for the future of my sim, and the Alienware 17 R4 laptop did well with TGC. Has a 1070 card, 16gb memory, and i7 6700Hq. 1700 or so at Best Buy...its a little more from Dell. Not sure it is the one I will go with, but for me performed better than the MSI. Just my 2 cents
