Would anyone be willing to share thier pics of how they secured thier screen? I'm going to be mounting mine about 12 inches from my garage wall, but cant come up with a good way to do this. Iron, conduit, other? I'm going to be installing retractable side curtains using electricl conduit. I also am struggling with how to secure a "top" portion to my siim.

Did you look through the pictures in the link I posted? I built a frame out of 1 inch EMT using the Cimmaron frame kit. My frame dimensions are 8' x 10' x 1' deep and I use 7 inch bungee cords to secure the screen to the back frame.Originally posted by kyle1981 View PostComment

Yeah, I was going to do netting, but then got talking with a company that builds golf simulators and they gave me the idea of putting carpet covered plywood on the walls since I had framed drywall walls on both sides, though I had to build out one of the walls a little bit. If that's not an option for you take a look at www.westcoastnetting.com. They have netting as well as ceiling mount tracks that you can hang the netting from and have them push back. You'll also need netting across the top for flop shots, but keep in mind you need at least 12" behind any netting for it to be effective. That was the kicker for me, I only had 11' width in my garage bay and to hang netting on both sides was going to take me down to 9' which was narrower than I wanted.Comment

I have been building my sim since the summer in my attic. I wanted to buy a full size sim but had to build my own due to size restrictions. I have my system mocked up and dialed in. Now I need to start the finish work. I used the protee base pack 2 with the golf club.Comment

If you get a workaround, please share. I would love to get my skytrak working even just on the demo until it gets officially released. Your setup looks great. How are you liking the PR20? I have it as well and it's not bad in darkness, but i think it may be washed out a little with any other ambient light.

It's 10ft wide. I had to cut into my ceiling slighty-covered by the curtains to get 8.5ft for height. I wouldn't go below 8ft on height, from 8-10ft away on my mat I can spin a 56 right into the cross beam conduit holding the screen up. I'm in an attic so the area to swing a driver is limited, but possible. I just line up way right on the screen, though the ceiling now has some driver paint marks on it, poor SLDR.
Looking above at danpho123 design I really wish I did the screen like that and included the arch above it.

UBrett, you really need 10ft minimum for width if you plan on swinging a driver. Even that can be too small depending on your situation. Anything less will cost you (or a guest) a club at some point. Do some testing. Mark space by using string taped to walls and ceiling. Swing a club slowly. Move a couple inches here and there... See what you think works. I think I've seen 1 guy say his width was 9ft but he doesn't use the driver. Good luck!Originally posted by Brettster View PostComment

Flooring: Padding and very cheap green carpet from Home Depot. I am hoping to upgrade flooring to a putting surface at some point
Ceiling sound insulation: May add some Ruxal SafenSound between joists

For those of you considering a sim room in a height/space constrained area, this might be a useful test case. I went through a long process of trying to decide whether to build a sim room in my detached garage or in the storage room in my basement. Due to weather (Michigan), costs and ease of use, I decided to build the sim room in the unfinished portion of my basement. The height of the ceiling is only 8 feet 2 inches. I knew before building the sim that I would not be able to use a driver or 3-wood comfortably (I am ~6 ft tall), but I decided the benefits of having the sim in my basement (relative to my detached garage) outweighed the ability to use my driver.
The distance from ball to impact screen is anywhere from 8-9.5 feet. I move closer to 8 feet when I am hitting my 56 degree. I haven’t had any issues with balls hitting the ceiling. I have had a couple SW shots spin up to ceiling, but they just hits joists
Sim
Course play was not extremely important to me, especially since I can’t hit a driver/3 wood comfortably, and thus SkyTrak was relatively easy choice (although I did think about GC2 for a long time). I have been very happy with the product. I am running on iPad Air 2 and the delay is maybe 2 – 3 seconds, but I don’t even notice it as this point
Miscellaneous
I am in the process of adding curtains with Velcro along the sides of the frame to clean up the look. The 2 inch Foam Mattress Topper has helped minimize bounce back and noise (Cory’s screen is great, I just wanted it to be as quiet as possible and I thought the mattress pad would help extend the life of screen). It is only ~7-8 lbs so I just hung directly behind screen using utility magnetic clips from Home DepotComment
