I researched the crap out of this when I started here is my info:

1) Golfsmith (at least local to me) uses the complete Foresight set-up including their screen.
2) Par2Pro HQ screen is exactly the same product as WCN PR100 (this is confirmed with samples and verbally by WCN)
3) WCN does all the set-ups for Trackman test facilities. They use their Archery Netting behind their PR100. (I went with this combo and it was money well spent)

I saved about 600 bucks by buying HQ raw vs a finished dimension. My "custom" WCN archery netting cost me around $350 and delivered in less than 2 weeks. The archery netting is quite heavy and I think the shipping weight was around 40-50lbs. This heavy support (and inertia) allows my net to be 8inches from my wall. I have no issues with 160mph ball speeds. The ball off the driver is far louder than the ball impacting the screen.

I spent weeks figuring out how to integrate sound proof panels, but in the end I didn't need them.

I am also glad I didn't buy a pre-cut and screen. I installed my projector and test mounted the screen to determine the final dimensions for the width. Then after I sewed the width, I remounted and found the proper height to hem at. This allows my image to be completely framed in and look very professional. It also added some flexibility in my design.

Looking for advice on overall stability. My current net (10x10) form WCN is hung from 1.5 pvc in ceiling supported by bicycle hooks. The sides are zip tied to 3/4 pvc on both sides, and those pvc are fitted to ceiling pvc with pvc elbows. In installing an impact screen, is this enough support for both the net and screen? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Looking for advice on cover up the side bungees and angle iron of the screen. My current idea is cover it with a black foam and wrapped with black cloth. It's that ok?

Any suggestions are welcome!

I'd say that it depends on the resiliency of the foam more than anything. The foam has to be fairly stiff in order to prevent errant golf balls from ricocheting off the angle iron.
Softer foam will just compress and not act as a damper. Sounds a little extreme but it should probably be able to absorb a light to medium hammer blow. With the speed that the golf ball travels that's a good approximation of a golf ball impact.

I like the idea of foam, but that will get expensive really quick. Take a look at pics of my setup in the pics thread. I used marine vinyl from Joannes and cut it to size and then I wrapped it using trunk carpet (black) that can be found cheap. I used 3M adhesive spray to attach the carpet and vinyl. Now it hangs great from velcro as the fuzzy trunk carpet works as the "loop" for hook and loop velcro. It made the attaching of it simple, clean and easy to remove.

It is a very professional look and I think I have less than $50 in materials.

My current setup is a white sheet with two layers of black sheet behind it, padded/weighted EMT at the bottom to keep it stretched tight, attached to netting with zip ties. It absorbs the impact fine, but the picture is terrible. Going to purchase a real screen to replace it to improve picture quality.

I need a new screen for my setup. Can someone explain the "direct from mill" thread here but also read it takes 12 weeks to get? I just want a better one than my previous although it was stretchy and nearly silent when hitting into it. Now has holes that were repaired but looks like crap.Suggestion?

The quick summary of the direct from mill thread is this. A guy who has expertise in textiles didn't want to pay full price for a high quality screen so he found the place supplying many of the manufacturers. He needed to place a big order though to get it, so a bunch of us got together and ordered from him. He cut up the rolls and shipped them to us and that screen was great. Then the supplier said they couldn't sell to him anymore because the manufacturers were upset that they were losing sales. At that point he went even higher up the supply chain and found someone to weave a custom screen which was what the last run was. The screens from him are really high quality and about 1/3-1/4 of what you would pay if you bought it from a simulator store online. The tradeoff is that you have to wait until his production run comes up in the manufacturer's queue, so it can be several months between shipments.

If your screen is still functioning I would get on the list and hopefully you can get in on the next batch before it totally fails. I would also keep an eye out on recent posts to see when he thinks the next run might happen.

I got on the waitlist or that straight from mill screen, but thought I'd see about other options as well. Has anybody ever put the PR100 with PR20 behind it? I loved the PR20 I had for weight and bounceback, but it was fraying from high spin wedge shots quick quickly.

I have the PR100. I have had it for about 3 years. It seems to be wearing at a very slow rate so hoping to get another year or 2 out of it. I have not put anything behind it though. The PR100 is fairly heavy so it would seem that it would possibly make it wear faster have something in behind it, not sure.

Concerned for nothing. It’ll just make your screen smaller.
