  • amazon screens?

Has anyone bought one of these screens from amazon? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016D...+impact+screen

I was wondering what they are similar to?

Yes, that's what I have. Works perfect! Displays a great image on the screen too. I ended up having straps with grommets sewed into the sides to attach bungee cables to help with stretching the screen tight. Definitely a good price for a screen.

How's the quality of the screen? Is it loud when a ball hits it? I was looking at the mesh screen from par2pro but this amazon option seems like a better bang for your buck if the quality is the same or better.

The quality is really good! Better than mesh screens. The impact sound really isn't bad. That also depends how you hang it and how much tension is pulled on the screen. But yeah, I'd say try it out. You can't go wrong with the price. That company also has a mesh screen version of it. I went with the supertex material because it displays a better image than mesh. However, mesh will be more durable long term.

Mike80 Can you share a picture of what you've done. I think i'm ordering their screen today. Are you not using the wrapped pvc in the sleeves?

Any comparison to par2pro hq material?

I ordered the same screen directly from the person who sells it (http://shop.virtual-golf-simulator.c...Screens_c5.htm). You can order any size you want and he can make it and send it.

The picture quality is pretty good in the supertex material, but it is pretty thin. I managed to make a small hole within a month. I think it was more due to my hitting area being too close to the screen and off to the side. So almost all the shots were being concentrated at this one particular spot. Since then I have moved my hitting area a bit back and turned it a bit, so the shot hits more the middle of the screen. Also made the screen loose. So far it seems to be holding up well.

The par2pro hq screen is about 800. I paid about 150 (maybe less for mine). So even if mine last a year, I can order 5 of mine and still come out ahead.

wbond Here are some pics of my setup with that screen and my sim room. No, I don't have the piping in the frame. I originally did and had 1 inch hard plastic pvc pipe wrapped with the cylinder foam wrapping. But after multiple hits the plastic pvc started breaking into tiny pieces inside. So I removed it and just have the screen pulled tight with bungees around the sides and top connecting to another section of frame about 12 inches behind it. I had multiple straps with grommets sewed on the sides and top so I could tighten the screen. I need to adjust it a little better because I have a little wave in it right now. See pics.

Here's a pic of the frame I built out of 3/4 inch EMT and a few more pics.

If I am reading your build diagram correctly, it is 8' in height? Trying to build something different than what I have now, and making sure I can swing driver in there. I have 9' ceilings. Did you build yours to diagram dimensions?

                Mike80 ,

Thanks for all the pics. I am actually at the frame construction stage of my sim enclosure and you have provided me with some outstanding ideas.

Can you give me a little information on your projector and it's set up? I am thinking it may be best for me to have a floor mounted unit and would be interested to know what model and case you are using. Have you had any issues with this set up?

                Thanks,
                Mark

I have the hanging model screen (just a sewn loop at top and bottom, but only use the top loop) and made my frame with extended feet out at the bottom using straight-through T connections. Top of the screen uses a 4-way straight-through so I can hang a curtain on the left and the right side has a padded and felted board connected to the poles so I didn't have to attach anything to the wall.

Mike80 Thanks for the pics. When you say the pvc started to break, was it because it was hit by a ball, or was it from repeated hits into the screen and the force from the shot and the straps pulling on the pvc? Curious because i ordered the screen yesterday and now i'm wondering if i should have maybe looked for something else? Or i may just have to sew additional straps onto it, as I definitely want to get it as smooth as possible.

ForeLeft did you have anything backing up this screen? I'm a little concerned since i just ordered this and hearing that you put a hole in yours so quickly? How close were you originally and how far back did you go when you changed?

wbond. I was initially about 4 feet. I had my car parked behind, so was trying to be extra careful not to hit that with my driver.

I do have a net backing, but my screen was too tight. After looking at videos that some other people have posted, they have a lot of give in the screen. For me the ball would bounce back to me rather just fall down.

The 3rd issued I had was my mat was to one side of the screen, and that also I thinks more pressure as its near the edge.

Now I have remedied all three. I am about 7 feet away. I have made the screen looser and have moved to the center. So far so good, but will know in another month...

I am still concerned that most shots go to one particular area of the screen. I am thinking of rotating the screen on regular basis like you would a mattress.

for anyone who has this screen, is it just the raw material for the screen, or is it an actual finished product? Meaning does it have any straps/grommets on the sides to attach it to a frame?

Just wondering because I know the HQ2 from p2p is 800 for the finished screen, but you could also just buy the same price of raw material from them and it's around $250

It's the finished screen. It has sleeves for pipes on all four sides and slits for the adjustable straps to go through. It doesn't have grommets - but all the tension goes into the pipes. So, it doesn't really need grommets at all.
