  • Bama Gambler Golf Club - my sim project

I've had a net return plus skytrak for about 6 months. I decide to start small to make sure I would actually hit balls at home. I love it! Time to upgrade. I'll post my progress in this thread.

Here is my net return setup.

    - putting game once per week
    - FSX combine once per week
    - 15 minutes tempo work every day
    - track all shots in golfmetrics
    - follow a double or worse with a birdie
    - make three straight birdies
    - lower handicap to a 5
    - shot par or better

    completed:
    - Bogey free nine holes (7/2/16 shot 1 under last week on the front nine)
    - Make an eagle (7/8/16, #11 at ballantrae, great drive down the middle, hit a 5i to 15 ft from 195 and ran the putt in)
    - 300+ yard drive on the simulator (7/12/16, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjZOAdL3c_A)
Those are some nice goals and just watched the video, nice shot, joining the 300 club now haha. With all the work you are putting into your game I can see a lot more of those coming soon. What is a putting game though? Is it something with the gc2?

Putting game is something I got from the book "Every Shot Counts". Below are the rules for the 10 ft for 10 points game. I did a variation 5 ft for 10 points (distances from 4 - 6 ft). I did the 5ft game because according to my strokes gained I really suck from 6ft and in. It is the weakest part of my game. Sure enough when I did the 5ft for 10 points it took me 14 holes to complete it and for an 80 golfer they should do it in around 13 holes for 15 points (an extra 5 points).

Damn, that sounds kinda tough to do from 10t. With all the sim golf Ive been playing instead of real golf, I get the feeling im gonna fail on this game pretty badly haha, but im gonna try it next time im on the putting green

Yeah man. I'm too scared to try 10 ft. If I did 10 ft then I would do the 10 hole version. I'm not sure I could ever finish the 10ft for 10 points lol.

First tournament in a long time. 6527 yards.70.6/123. Shot 78 with three 3 putts and a shanked wedge on #18. I'll take it.

Very nice round, especially with all the 3 putts! Hopefully the drills you are doing will knock that down and you'll be killing it on the greens in no time

Thanks! The three putts were really long. 55ft, 60ft and 90ft. Left them all about 9ft short. Couldn't find the speed from those long distances. Had great speed inside 30ft.

I hit everything 6ft and in. Really happy about that considering that is what I've been working on.

Nice, I haven't been out on the course yet all summer (just tough getting out with my work hours) and when I do, I am quite terrified on how the 6ft and in putts will go haha

BamaG, I have the GC2 and I am strongly considering getting the HMT add-on for it. What are your thoughts regarding it? Is it worth it?

I love the HMT but I don't use it all the time. I only keep stickers on my 7i and my driver. So I get data when I hit those clubs. If I'm working on something specific then I might take the time to put them on another club.

Is it worth it? Depends on how much that amount of money means to you. .

Let me add that I would definitely buy it again if I had to do it over. I would also be happy without it. The GC2 by itself is great. With the HMT it is greater.

i would love to have an HMT like addon for skytrak. For a mostly beginner it would take all the guess work out of how I'm hitting the golf ball. I will wait for the tech to get better and less expensive, but if I had the cash I would go GC2 HMT without question.

So close to one my goals this weekend. Finished 2nd in my flight of a tournament. Tough course (University of Alabama's golf team's home course) and I shot 79. Was 2 under through 6 but made 7 straight bogeys. Also finished with three straight bogeys. Didn't really feel pressure at all just hit a couple of really bad 3w shots.

Not everyone is getting the stock returns you are! I'm glad you got the HMT - I haven't checked in for a little while... how has your game improved? I believe one of the posts you made shortly after getting the HMT, you mentioned doing pretty good going out on the real course. Has the improvement continued?

I got the GC2 because I recently started playing golf since all my friends were playing for years. I have a newborn, so I knew I wouldn't be able to get out on the range/course like they all were. I feel that I have the capability of getting better while using it because I can adjust my swing when I see bad results with my form. Problem is, I get my education from YouTube and it seems that everyone on the planet has a solution to fix whatever problem I'm having. I've been wanting the HMT, but it won't do anything if I don't have someone to tell me what to fix.

Totally understand keeping the stickers on those two clubs. If you were analyzing each shot every single time, I feel like that would be causing too much confusion. Keep it on the two clubs and periodically check the progress over time.

Finally moving into our new house we've been building for the last 10 months... I've had no room in my current garage. Moving the setup to a 9' ceiling basement which is plenty room for me. Can't wait to start playing with you all!
