  • Buy Impact Screen Fabric Directly from Mill

As a cost sensitive person attempting to build a high quality simulator, I realized purchasing the correct impact screen is critical to both the simulator's overall performance and it's price tag. It should be affordable, durable, seamless, impact resistant, have minimal bounce back, low noise, and display HD quality images.

West Coast Netting, Par2Pro, Foresight, Carl's Place and others listed in various forum threads all sell screens but none actually manufacture them. Buying second hand increases cost and my goal to buy the highest quality materials at the best possible price can only be accomplished by purchasing direct from the mill that manufacturers the fabric.

After plenty of research I found the mill that's manufacturing the impact screen fabric for Foresight, Carl's Place and others. The mills highest quality impact screen fabric is a heavyweight knit polyester sold only in 120 inch x 40 yard rolls. The raw material costs $56/yard without shipping.

40 yards is clearly too much material for my simulator so I'm looking to get a group of us on the forum to split a roll.

Please advise any interest or questions.

  • Hi Daniel,
Really appreciate the update and all you do to supply the screen material.
I can wait until January, I am still working on building out the space for the sim. I originally sent sent $350 which became $339.55 on 10/24 and then followed up with $10.45 on 11/4 to get 20'x10'. If that is not enough, I will make up the difference.
    Thanks again,
    Larry Ott

We will do another run. It takes a long time to knit this fabric so we'll probably receive the next shipment in January. As many of you probably have noticed this is too much to handle effectively through this thread. We will have a website shortly where people can put orders and pay online. We will ship the fabric ourselves and include shipping in the price. The thread will remain for comments regarding quality and or improvements we can make to the material. The cost of the material is still the same and therefore the price will remain the same. Looking to organize this process and keep our community supplied.

      Best,

      Daniel

Daniel I’m good waiting till the next run. Just let me know.

      • Hi all - received my screen. Thanks so much!!! Has anyone confirmed how to identify which is the front and which is the back? My guess is that the screen is folded to protect the front of the screen. Can anyone please confirm? Thanks!

Klint Flint your 12 foot piece is not 12 x 10. it is 12 x 9 ft 9 inches. If this works for you its ready to go send me a label. If it doesn't I am happy to send your money back or you can wait until January when I receive the next shipment. Please let me know.

The following people have these orders:
              Jeff Reed $254.59 14.55 15-Oct 15.00
              Robert Bushman III $271.58 15.52 17-Oct 16.00
              Scott Pomeroy $305.56 17.46 23-Oct 18.00
              Larry Ott $339.55 19.40 24-Oct 20.00
              Jesse Brown $305.56 17.46 24-Oct
              Butch Butler $339.55 19.40 24-Oct

              Vikas Rathi $193.00 11.03 20-Nov
I dont have fabric for you in clean 10 ft wide sections. Here is what I can cut that is clean:

              15 x 8
              15 x 9
              14 x 8
              9 x 10
              9.5 x 10
              9 x 13
8 x 23 (can prob cut this into two screens)

If you guys want any of these I am happy to adjust the price to reflect the reduced square footage and if you don't want it I understand and will be happy to refund your payment unless you want to wait until January. I will wait to hear from you guys before offering these to everyone.

Brandon Lynch please advise if you have received your screen.

              Best,

              Daniel
              Hi Daniel,

              Thank you for the update.

I can take 9.5x10 instead of my original ask for 10x11. Let me know the shipping weight and box dimensions and I will get you the label.

Appreciate what you are doing for all of us!

That’s great. When was yours packed? You mentioned yours was around same time as mine in October. I’m up in Canada so mine might be awhile still😔

                • Hi Daniel,

Whenever you get chance please can you confirm the Wt and the size of the box. I will get the shipping label out to you. Thanks and appreciate your help.

                  • Daniel - I just wanted to say thank you, again! My screen is up and mounted, and the quality is incredible. I had been using a Carl’s preferred screen, and the image on your screen is much more clear. My Carl’s screen is now hanging behind your screen, so the balls hit both screens, bounce a few feet, and then roll to the side perfectly. I couldn’t be happier. Thanks for all your effort - and good luck with the new website!

                    • Received my screen thanks Daniel. Now need some guidance from others. I'm attaching it to a sportsscreen. I'm trying to figure out if I have to find a seamstress to sew the velcro on the screen to match what is on the sportsscreen, or is there an epoxy/glue or something that won't bleed through that will allow me to secure the velcro to the Mill screen? I'm also considering just testing it by rolling a full 1' of the screen up with the sports screen, without attaching it, so the roller holds the screen (have 10' screen, only need a bit under 9', so that may work.

                      Anyhow, suggestions , warnings etc?
                      Thanks

                    • I used adhesive Velcro to put on the screen. It didn’t hold well but I only needed it to hold long enough to be able to wrap it once around the pipe. It worked fine enough and never had an issue staying in place.

I did the exact same thing. The Velcro doesn’t stick too well to the screen itself because the Velcro is holding tighter to itself than the glue to the screen.

But like Bond has said, just being able to get 3/4 of a rotation is all that’s needed. Friction and gravity do the rest.

                    • hi Daniel,
I would like to order 9x10.
let me know when you would have it available.
                      thanks

                      • Daniel,

I’d like to get on your list for a 9’ x 9’ screen. I’m unclear how the edges are finished or how this material will mount to my 9’6” x 9’6” frame? My current screen has pockets for pvc piping all around and has Velcro straps.

                        Thanks,

                        Mike

                        • Here is one option. Tarp Clips and adjustable ball bungees.

In this picture are your tarp clips zip tied to the emt frame ? Also I see a bungee between the tarp clips that looks to go behind your screen, is that holding a net or something behind your screen?

Kevin_82 yeah I didn't pay attention, on this side it is zip tide, on the opposite side and top it's bungeed. There is a net behind the screen that is bungeed in place as well.
