Buy Impact Screen Fabric Directly from Mill

As a cost sensitive person attempting to build a high quality simulator, I realized purchasing the correct impact screen is critical to both the simulator's overall performance and it's price tag. It should be affordable, durable, seamless, impact resistant, have minimal bounce back, low noise, and display HD quality images.

West Coast Netting, Par2Pro, Foresight, Carl's Place and others listed in various forum threads all sell screens but none actually manufacture them. Buying second hand increases cost and my goal to buy the highest quality materials at the best possible price can only be accomplished by purchasing direct from the mill that manufacturers the fabric.

After plenty of research I found the mill that's manufacturing the impact screen fabric for Foresight, Carl's Place and others. The mills highest quality impact screen fabric is a heavyweight knit polyester sold only in 120 inch x 40 yard rolls. The raw material costs $56/yard without shipping.

40 yards is clearly too much material for my simulator so I'm looking to get a group of us on the forum to split a roll.

Please advise any interest or questions.

Ah great - thanks - I passed over MyUS.com before because FedEx said USD118 shipping and USD142 basic membership - thinking there was a yearly membership fee but I revisited and I think that means USD142 if on the free single package plan, USD118 if on the premium plan. Also their site made me think you had to buy from their preferred partners.

btw,it appears the free single package plan can be used multiple times - 'single package' meaning no consolidating multiple packages into one.

(I did send this by PM but it's not in my sent, and I recall it saying something about it being posted as a visitor message - anyway ignore it if you do get this).

Here's a suggestion. Order it longer so you can unroll it as it wears and get a clean section to hit into. I'm doing this on this original order. I did it so I can unroll it and move the impact section in 18" increments. Should increase life 4x.

Hi Wbond, how to you attach your screen that allows you to unroll it, do you use the tarp clips? if so do they leave a mark / indentation on the screen once you remove the clip and shift the screen?

We just received the initial order fairly recently so I haven't unrolled it yet. I'm hoping to get a year out of it. I use tarp clips.

Thanks for all the posts and taking the initiative to make the list I appreciate it. For now adding your name on the list will hold your spot. Within the next couple days I will post the new pricing.

There was a post asking about the fabric being acoustically transparent. I would bet your speakers will sound better if they aren't installed behind the screen. My speakers aren't installed behind the screen so I can't speak from actual experience. Maybe someone else can offer more insight.

For the local Atlanta member who offered help. I appreciate the offer, I'll bring my 2 year old and you bring your 3 year old and 5 year old and let's put them to work also!

Gene, you are correct the thread is getting long. In the future I think we will move the orders to some other platform and leave this thread for everyone's comments and experiences with the material in order to assist with R&D.
