  • Putting green and hitting platform combined?

I'm still planning out my sim set up. I have a 12.5' wide x 12' deep area recessed into my garage's RV stall that I plan on putting my sim in. What I'd like to do is frame that area with 2x6s and 2x4s with plywood on top to make a platform. Then cover the entire platform in a green material for putting and for the stance part of my platform. I'd then use a 1x3' fiberbuilt insert for my turf to hit balls from. I'd like to insert cups around the platform for putting practice as well as one in line with the fiberbuilt panel to use for TGC2019.

    - What is the best turf that would work well as a putting surface, but also be durable enough to use for standing on as a swing platform?

    - How can I make sure the fiberbuilt strip sits flush in the framing?

    - Has anyone made something like this that has some tips? And does it work well for putting or should I just use my birdie ball instead?

    - Do I need any padding or other flooring other than the plywood on the frame and the turf?

Here's an example of what I'm trying to do from another thread.

I did something similar to what you are proposing. I have posted pics and videos you may want to check out.

Since last update, I have added the Uneekor system and theater chairs to my sim room. I love these chairs, only downside is that the family wants to watch more movies and it's cutting into my golf time..... screen.jpg side.jpg side2.jpg side3.jpg chairs.jpg dark.jpg front2.jpg

Well, I have been at this for a couple of years now and I thought I would try to put everything in one place. I've had a lot of questions, some discussions,

Also, check out the section on Simulator Builds...tons of info in there.

My setup is very similar to what is pictured above. I have the Fiberbuilt insert, and dropped in a cup down the target line about a foot from the screen. I used plywood and then topped it with interlocking foam squares from Lowe's. I used outdoor carpet for the entirety of the setup, and the putts roll great on it. I was worried about chewing up the outdoor carpet while swinging, so I bought a cheap hitting mat and use that to stand on. I can post some pics here once I get home this evening.
