Anyone on here use the fiberbuilt inserts for their mat? I currently use a CCE hitting strip inserted in my old Optishot hitting platform and am exploring other options. I have a steep angle of attack and take big divots in real life. This obviously doesn't work well with a firm mat like the CCE. The fibers just grab the club and its wreaking havoc on my left wrist. Does the Fiberbuilt surface provide a little more gentle impact? It seems like there would be a little more give in it. I realize it wouldn't provide as good of a gauge of fat shots, but that's ok with me.

I know this post is from quite a while ago, but if you are using one of the protective cases....you could easily get a 3' piece of 80/20 extruded aluminum track to slide it on. Just mount that to the floor and you have a nice simple rail system.Originally posted by ThinmanI actually do not mind moving the Skytrak at all. I have those blocks all level to each other, those blue straight edges to act as a stop and the feet on my skytrak case hotglued into position. Makes very very easy movement with no adjustments required. The extra time between shots is probably beneficial as well.
I'll have a better feel for the mat after another practice round tonight. Still nursing a slight rib muscle pull that isn't helping matters.

I'm thinking about doing something like this. So which side of the FB insert are you putting on? Between the FB insert and the GC2 or on the side of the FB closest to you? I figured the FB inserts were too wide for this kind of solution. I have 2 FB inserts but don't use them because of the putting issue. Any way you could take a quick picture of the setup you're describing?Originally posted by Boo Radley View Post
Works great with GC2, I have CCE with Fibrebuilt inserts. hit from FB and putt at the edge of CCE mat close to FB insert...GC2 picks up both positions . Tee sticks into CCE mat for driving! ! I love the GC2 /TGC ! ! I shim the FB to be the same height as CCE, easy fix, then putt onto a birdieball putting surface shimmed up 1" OSB to be same height as CCE mat !

I have slightly changed things, but same concept..I use a 14x5' synlawn mat wit fiberbuilt insert 10 fet to the screen where balll is itting to putt, aabout 11 feet where I hit from on fiberbuilt...I ussed to putt between me and the insert just off the inside edge, but find this works better, jst build a sliding track for gc2

Hi BR - do you have any pics of your turf set up? Interested to see if your 14 x 5 is in the middle of your hitting area and how you / if you turf either side of it.Originally posted by Boo RadleyI have slightly changed things, but same concept..I use a 14x5' synlawn mat wit fiberbuilt insert 10 fet to the screen where balll is itting to putt, aabout 11 feet where I hit from on fiberbuilt...I ussed to putt between me and the insert just off the inside edge, but find this works better, jst build a sliding track for gc2

I have been using the CCE insert in a stance mat that I made myself. I have been reading all the posts here and would like to know from the the users that have bout the fiberbuilt how do they like it or have they gone back to the cce since this post has been going on for some time. Thanks

The CCE made my elbow hurt when I would hit lots of balls and I felt like soft putts jumped offline with it. I built the DIY truestrike which can be found in another thread and that helped my elbow pain and putting was way better. When the Golfsmith by me went out of business, there was an auction for their fixtures and I picked up a fiberbuilt mat for $50 which was too good to pass up. It is the most forgiving of the bunch, the easiest on my joints, and in between the other two in terms of putting. I have found that I hit my pitch shots fat more often on the course after getting the fiberbuilt because it lets you get away with it. At the same time, the fiberbuilt lets you hit high, soft shots that aren't possible on the other mats.

Fiberbuilt is years ahead of CCE imo. Feel is completely differentOriginally posted by Stiggity View PostI have been using the CCE insert in a stance mat that I made myself. I'm positive they have sold inserts in the past as a buddy of mine bought just an insert only a few years ago. I personally have the full stance mat and love it. As others have mentioned it is very easy on the joints. I have some wrist/forearm issues and it helps tremendously.

I just upgraded to the Fiberbuilt 4X5 performance mat. It definitely is a lot better than the CCE insert that i was using in my built stance mat. Takes a couple of swings to get used to it but i enjoy it a lot. I am working on a slide so i can just move my skytrak up and down to use the tee that they came with. Will keep everyone posted.
On a side note the customer service from fiberbuilt was excellent. I ordered mine on a Tuesday, shipped wednesday and got it thursday. Helps when you only live 3 hours from the shipping destination.

After reading this whole thread it seems the only downside to the fiberbuilt is the putting....couldn't you just get a 2 foot piece of 1/4 rubber backed outdoor carpet and lay over the fibers and putt? This shouldn't effect the laser at all. I know it would be a "little faster", but the line would be true for that 12 - 24 inches that it needs.

I'm not sure how flat the outdoor carpet would lay on top of the fibers. Personally, I think putting on the fiberbuilt is ok. If you are using Skytrak there is now a patch that makes all of your putts go straight. I have a GC2 with putting forgiveness set to 2, which means anything under 1.5 degrees registers as straight. I rarely have a putt that doesn't read in that range, and I would say it is usually a bad stroke and not the mat if it does.

has anyone purchased and use the fiberbuilt performance mat alone as a stance and hitting surface without the fiberbuilt dedicated grass? I used to have a allturfmats matzilla that was too squishy. Then purchased their 6x10 surface with is firmer to stand on but might be a bit too unforgiving to hit irons off. I am looking for a 10 X 10 turf buildout with an insert cut out for the hitting area. Concerned that the fiberbuilt grass is too soft for putting as I like the feel of putting on the 6x10 turf I currently have.
OPtions I am considering are a 10x10 tee strike turf and use it for stance and hittng but not sure if the feel under foot is too soft. Other option is conventional non hitting turf and a cutout for a performance turf stance mat from fiberbuilt that will be hitting area as well but not sure of the feel on irons. I know the fiberbuilt grass is the best but I would like something I can put on as well straight to the screen.
Any suggestions from those that have used the tee strike vs fiberbuilt vs fiberbuilt performance turf?

I'll have the performance mat system hopefully by Saturday... It comes with a 4x4 performance stance mat, and a 1x3 hitting strip of their Fiberbuilt material. I am looking forward to hitting some irons off the performance stance mat myself and see how it compares to my Monster Tee turf...
My understanding is that the performance stance mat is something you can hit off of, and is dense enough to hold a tee.. so I assume it will be similar to a CCE type feel... but maybe not as squishy as my Monster Tee mat.
