  • Fiberbuilt Opinions Please

Anyone on here use the fiberbuilt inserts for their mat? I currently use a CCE hitting strip inserted in my old Optishot hitting platform and am exploring other options. I have a steep angle of attack and take big divots in real life. This obviously doesn't work well with a firm mat like the CCE. The fibers just grab the club and its wreaking havoc on my left wrist. Does the Fiberbuilt surface provide a little more gentle impact? It seems like there would be a little more give in it. I realize it wouldn't provide as good of a gauge of fat shots, but that's ok with me.

I actually do not mind moving the Skytrak at all. I have those blocks all level to each other, those blue straight edges to act as a stop and the feet on my skytrak case hotglued into position. Makes very very easy movement with no adjustments required. The extra time between shots is probably beneficial as well.

I'll have a better feel for the mat after another practice round tonight. Still nursing a slight rib muscle pull that isn't helping matters.

Played 9 at lunch and feeling much better about things. Likely had my bad swing working last night, especially after the installation work. Either way, always take swing comments from a TGC HC 9+ with a grain of salt.

Still a little trouble with the wedges, but it is a much different surface from the CCE. Nowhere as tight of a lie, but no, the ball does not sink in.

Is putting as bad as others have said with the fiberbuilt?

Yeah. I think I can putt off it ok, but it's soft enough to get in your head, so I don't think I will try using it for putting. Certainly not in a tournament.

That said, after moving my mats around, my putting is all screwed up. Visual references are all out of whack.

Thinman .....how do the tomahawk tees work with the Fiberbuilt panels? Does it still sit on top nicely or do they sink in alittle?

Pam threw in their adjustable tees, but I like to use tomahawk neo tees as well.

I haven't really had any problems with tomahawk tees sinking in. There's enough of the fibers in the mat that the tee sits up pretty evenly.

I do not have similar results and my tomahawks sink in too far to be used. But, I hot glued a piece of lexan on the bottom as a base and they work fine like that.

I ended up playing both tour rounds last night.

The first round, I hit only my 5i - 3W off the Fiberbuilt with everything else off the CCE. It was pretty much what I excepted for the most part, except I am having a real hard time putting from the forward mat.

Second round, I hit only my driver from the CCE and everything else, including putting, from the Fiberbuilt. My tomahawk tee's don't sit up nicely enough for me on the Fiberbuilt and I need to look if they have taller ones I can use. Still having big time problems with my shortest wedges (9i down) off the Fiberbuilt, but it is definitely me hitting too far behind the ball at times. From the CCE, you get enough bounce that it is not as penal, but that is not the case from the FB. I'm going to need to work on that. Right now, my wedge game is pretty out of whack because of it and that it really the strongest part of my game, so it hurts.

Overall...I'm going to try and make the FB work for all shots. As mentioned above, just being able to hit my 3W means that this thing is not going anywhere. I don't care if I need to leave it there just for 3W shots, it's worth it to me.

so it is starting to look like my over-penal mishits are being caused by my Skytrak being at too low a level. Was a good 1/2" under the height of the FB, which sits much higher than the CCE when in the rubber base. Getting much better results with it at the proper height.

Didn't make any sense that a more forgiving mat could be so penal. I was loosing 20-30 yards on mishit pw's & 9i's which is just nuts. More in the 10-15 yard range lost for a slightly fat hit now which is closer to reality.

I thought for a bit that I was going to have a one-mat solution since I had been putting off it also, but then I missed 8 & 10 footers in a row and went back to the CCE for putting.

has that slider come to market yet? I know its in development on moving the skytrak up 3 feet and then back for your exact situation

My s4r shipped today (fedex 2day ground) and should arrive Wednesday. Will post a review/comparison with my ultimate monster tee mat(similar to CCE) when it comes.

For those familiar with the Monster Mat, it would be like trying to putt from that.

You certainly wouldn't use Fiberbuilt panels to create a putting green. They are not designed for that. Don't be surprised at the results you see when trying to putt.
Works great with GC2, I have CCE with Fibrebuilt inserts. hit from FB and putt at the edge of CCE mat close to FB insert...GC2 picks up both positions . Tee sticks into CCE mat for driving! ! I love the GC2 /TGC ! ! I shim the FB to be the same height as CCE, easy fix, then putt onto a birdieball putting surface shimmed up 1" OSB to be same height as CCE mat !

Even after hitting over 100 balls a day....my wrist doesn't get sore like it did with the UMT. Glad I finally got the Fiberbuilt.

                            Hi everyone,

I am about to pull the trigger on a Fiberbuilt insert (3 x 1 ft) with the "ultra" type of grass (regular), but I didn't manage to get the official price on the web.

Do you have any idea of its street price? And ideally, in the euro-zone...

                            Many thanks in advance.

Don't think there is a street price, especially not in Europe.

ProTee / Swingsense may sell them in Europe. Otherwise order them direct from Fiberbuilt.
