Hi,
I've looked at a lot of the posts on flooring. There are a few members that I have seen where they recessed their stance mat (or built up the surrounding area) so it was flush with surrounding turf. It is a real good look and allows putting off the mat with no drop off. I thought I would post this before ordering anything, just to see if anyone has come up with a better "mouse trap."
I have a 4x5 stance mat that has 5/8" black foam on bottom and about a 1/2" of turf. It is very firm and great for a stance mat. I bought a Divot Action insert from John at CDG and installed it into this stance mat. Used a sharp utility knife and took my time making the cuts in the mat. It works great, so plan to use that for my setup. It is in my garage on concrete. The simulator foot print is 10' wide and I hit from about 9' from the screen. What I would like to do is turf the entire area, say 10x15 and have the turf flush up to the top of my stance mat. I have seen where guys have used Dri-Core and some who have constructed a wooden base. I would prefer to avoid that, and was thinking of just buying these foam tiles (see attached link), and then a quality nylon putting turf that can roll out on top of them. One concern I have is cutting the turf and tiles to drop my stance mat in so it is flush. Anyone have a good technique for making this type of cut? Would not want to screw up the cut and ruin the turf and a number of foam tiles.
Any advice would be appreciated. Making the final touches on the sim build now that the weather is turning. Feels kind of strange actually looking forward to cold weather for a change!
Thanks a lot!
