  • Best flooring tips for flushing stance mat with turf

    Hi,
I've looked at a lot of the posts on flooring. There are a few members that I have seen where they recessed their stance mat (or built up the surrounding area) so it was flush with surrounding turf. It is a real good look and allows putting off the mat with no drop off. I thought I would post this before ordering anything, just to see if anyone has come up with a better "mouse trap."

I have a 4x5 stance mat that has 5/8" black foam on bottom and about a 1/2" of turf. It is very firm and great for a stance mat. I bought a Divot Action insert from John at CDG and installed it into this stance mat. Used a sharp utility knife and took my time making the cuts in the mat. It works great, so plan to use that for my setup. It is in my garage on concrete. The simulator foot print is 10' wide and I hit from about 9' from the screen. What I would like to do is turf the entire area, say 10x15 and have the turf flush up to the top of my stance mat. I have seen where guys have used Dri-Core and some who have constructed a wooden base. I would prefer to avoid that, and was thinking of just buying these foam tiles (see attached link), and then a quality nylon putting turf that can roll out on top of them. One concern I have is cutting the turf and tiles to drop my stance mat in so it is flush. Anyone have a good technique for making this type of cut? Would not want to screw up the cut and ruin the turf and a number of foam tiles.

Any advice would be appreciated. Making the final touches on the sim build now that the weather is turning. Feels kind of strange actually looking forward to cold weather for a change!

    Thanks a lot!

How loud is the Dricore when a ball drops and hits it? Thanks

With outing fabric on it not too loud but you can hear it.

I remember seeing your setup and it's slick all the way around. You cut into your putting turf to recess the CCE tee area flush, right? What did you do to ensure you got the cut right and to match up putting turf with the CCE? I plan to buy enough putting turf to go all the way from the screen to out beyond my hitting mat, and then cut a hole in the turf and drop my 4x5 hitting mat into it. That is obviously a cut I only want to make once, and get it right, to avoid ruining pricey putting turf.

I shimmed the Dricore with Dricore shims to make it match exactly with the CCE

Dricore + carpet padding + Shaw Passageway 1 carpet perfectly aligned for me. No shimming needed.

Did you carpet the entire floor area and make a cut out and drop your hitting mat into the carpet? A couple pics would be great! Thx

What kind of putting fabric did you use? Right now I have a mat from netreturn with a cutout for a CCE strip. I'm using some ceiling tiles under the mat to raise it to the level of the CCE strip. It's messy, and ugly, and slides. I'd love to put in a solution that fits under the mat and surrounds it in teh entire garage area so that it's all level. Just looking to do this in the least expensive way possible.

Hi, first post on this site, I apologize if this has been asked elsewhere. I am wondering how does putting from a stance/hitting mat feel and should the area in front of the mat be built up even though the surface would be different from the mat.

Comes down to personal preference. I go from my hitting mat to carpet and am fine with that. Some put similar turf all the way to the screen. No right or wrong way.
