It looks like Flightscope is bringing an updated Mevo to the January PGA Merchandise Show. According to the brief blurb, this version will have skills combines and golf course simulation. Another exhibitor, Awesome Golf, is listed as a new simulation partner for Flightscope, and I assume that this is the software that might work with this new Mevo. Looks like something to keep an eye on!

I believe TM has been very forthcoming that this merely only aids with measuring spin only. Can’t see FS being much different. I think the most interesting thing to note in the video and is something that O see many people comment wrt to the metal dot is that the radar sees the dot at all times even when it is pointed away from the unit. Maybe rather than using a dot, one of them can come up with a line that could be used to allow them to measure spin axis...Last edited by Dax; 01-24-2020, 11:14 PM.

Please all the technical guru's out there comment on what he is saying......
I think it's reasonable to believe that the tech has advanced enough to provide what they are claiming. Skytrak is an old product, especially in technology years, and while ST has been sitting around counting the number of units sold, it would appear that Foresight has been working on taking advantage of newer, smaller and cheaper components to build the next generation of consumer launch monitors.

Does anyone have a sense about how annoying it will be to line up the dot before every shot? I'm thinking that the expanded hitting area will make this not too big of a deal since you might be able to roll the ball around a bit to position it, but I'm guessing...

This was discussed in the video interview with the CEO (seems like a genuinely decent, really smart guy). He said the sticker should face the target, but there is about a centimeter of play in any direction. I didn't realize placement of the sticker toward the target uses the shape of the ball to "funnel" or focus the radar on the sticker.
-
The dot is used because as Henri (the founder) said, the radar sees through the ball to the dot. This is how they used their Ballistics knowledge as that was how Foresight started out, doing ballistics analysis for military and they applied that to sports (tennis/golf). It makes sense it would be extremely accurate.
I've seen others say they don't use the dot at all and it still reads just fine indoors, so would like to see that tested. Maybe it just results in more misreads, but not enough to be a big deal?

I had a feeling the Xi+ wasn't long for this world after the leak about MEVO+ and the subsequent announcement of end-of-life support for the X2. When they said MEVO+ had 15 data parameters while Xi+ had 16, I knew the end was near.

Based on my online research it was:
Xi $2500
Xi+ $5000
Xi Tour $9000
I think they were all the same hardware (I’m not 100% certain on this) but the upgrades were just done by software. Meaning there was enough profit on the hardware at $2500 to sell the piece of tech (they wouldn’t lose money on the device) and they would get extra profit for people unlocking higher levels (as no real new cost to them). I think the sales tactic here was cover a wide spread audience and get them in on lower end and hoping people upgrade.
I’m guessing they decided they could get a much higher penetration at $2k giving away basically the $5k parameters with the trade off being partial versus full tracking. Thin margins but high volume (relatively speaking).
-
My guess is that they realized the price of the technology which they used to be able to sell for $9k has come down to a level where another company could possibly swoop in and offer their own version of the mevo+ for $2k. FS decided to be the one to do the swooping.

I saw the last E6-Connect software update was issued to specifically include the Mevo+ launch monitor. I just wish it would fit in my garage sim; I'm just 6.5ft from my impact screen (thanks to a very good 1080p short-throw projector; Optoma 1080Pdarbee). Otherwise, I would do a Mevo+ over my Tittle and Optishot2 config. My 3-year-old Tittle-X is now having issues after playing a cold day of garage golf, My R-motion also gave up ghost but months ago (and losing the *special* unmarked BT dongle) didn't help. The freaking WGT game that PhiGolf uses is just an In-App-Purchase scheme to get as much money from you possible (and it's a horrible simulator/game as an added insult). At least my Optishot is holding up while my Optishot Handicap has hit a new low... +5.5.... ARGGG!

Hey everyone, brand new to the forum but love coming here just to read and get opinions. I got a SkyTrak a month ago and I’m putting it on Ebay later today. SkyTrak is great for people who have limited space but even from the little we know about the Mevo+, it just seems to be just as capable as SkyTrak if not better. I recently saw a comparison of the regular Mevo against the GC2, obviously different parameters but the ones the Mevo had were not that far off the GC2. I guess my point is there’s NO way the Mevo+ doesn’t perform as good or better than SkyTrak. Flightscope worked on this for 3 years and it was obviously made to compete with SkyTrak. The main reason I pre-ordered the Mevo+ already is even though I’ve never delt with Flightscope as a company, there’s NO way they can be worse than SkyTrak when it comes to listening to their Consumers/Community.

it doesn't matter if Seth been silent here for a year, FS is just not present digitally. Sure people are disappointed in the year of silence but choosing FS over Skytrakl based on community is just bad. Disregard this pond and check their facebook page and linkedin and you get my point, they are barely digital present.
With that said i ordered my Mevo+ but the reason i do that is just pure product quality and aftermarket service when having issues.
People swapping from Skytrak to Mevo (like me) isnt the same as there will be a community manager from FS present here and a community with out a community manager is just poor marketing and poor customer satisfaction. When they sold a bunch of Xi and Xi+ they had an upswing here and i had lengthy talks with the european sales rep regarding having a presence since sim play was available in the Xi serie but it was not for them. And i agree, if you cant do it good just dont do it. I would be very suprised if some one from FS popped up here and helped out.I hope they do but i dont think we should expect it.

Brutaly, your observation of FS is interesting. If there was one area FS fell short with rollout of the original MEVO, was lack of communication to the masses. Yet, their direct communication (customer service) was REALLY good. The importance of mass communication is to not only update your current customer base, it's to update prospective customers and even competitors that you're making things right.
i just chalked the MEVO rollout to a business-oriented model (club pros, high-traffic retail managers, etc.) not understanding how to communicate to a consumer base.
The funny thing is that what makes me even more confident about rollout of MEVO+. These guys are engineers. They think their mistake was premature rollout of MEVO. So, this release is going to have this product in a more ready state. Just my opinion. We'll see...
-
Exactly my point and observation. We are talking about a B2B engineer driven company deriving from the South African defense industry where their own facebook group is closed for members only. They had stellar products/apps and customer service when i approached them and great 1-to-1 communication but their sense of community is no existent. I hope they hired people that can prove me wrong but its more to it then the right people, it demands process changes and a new mindset internally.
In the past there has been zero communication regarding new patches and features (which has been really good updates and changes) etc and I think it is important that we as the customer has the proper expectations. I dont expect them to change their market mindset so i wont be disapointed a year from now when they been silent on these forums and other channels.

Regarding TGC 2019 integration with Mevo+, I just got the following info from ProTee United:
“Mevo+ is indeed a great unit. We have been working on the integration in 2019 and are impressed. We compared results with other well know launch monitors and all is very close.
Flightscope will list it for sale very soon. We will not be selling this direct.
Flightscope has been testing the integration and they are happy and excited like we are. I expect a lot of new TGC players soon…”- Ron at GunghoGolf.com - we specialize in TrackMan, FlightScope, Foresight, Uneekor, SkyTrak, Garmin, Bushnell, TGC, and E6 Connect. 512-861-4151 or email hello AT gunghogolf.com.

Interesting. Would be nice to know if E6 plans to distribute their software bundled in the same way. Might be a new business model emerging here. The manufacturer of hardware becomes the top of the food chain. Might lead to units that are locked to the specific software/supplier.Last edited by Brutaly; 01-26-2020, 06:09 PM.

It seems that for those of us who are leaning in on the Mevo+, it is probably a good time to get used to the fact that we will likely have to fork out some cash in order to be able to use the version of TGC that Flightscope will be selling.

I’m not familiar with Flightscope business model so excuse me if its a odd question. For the people who own TGC will there still be a cost to use it with Flightscope? Or will we have to use some sort of version of TGC for Flightscope. I’m just not clear on there approach.
-
No one knows the business model. This is uncharted territory.
I will try and contact FS support tomorrow and get clarification regarding additional courses in E6 and will also ask about TGC and existing software owners.
Not to be negative but since I am originally from the telcoindustry I got a feeling that there might be some restrictions concerning software and how they are linked to the hardware.
If we assume that the 5 E6 courses are included in the hardware price wouldn’t it be in E6 interest to try and prevent the specific E6 Mevo owner churning to TGC?
I think if we understand the TGC business model the situation will unfold.
