I got FSX 2018 yesterday. I am very new to FSX, but I can say for sure the graphics difference from FSX to FSX 2018 is huge. I was not impressed with the graphics in the old version. I even own the expensive courses, and the graphics were marginal. FSX 2018 is a huge difference in the graphics quality! I would say the included courses graphics are about as good as TGC, and the expensive courses look even better than TGC. I am extremely impressed with the graphics quality with FSX 2018. I have not spent enough time to tell you about other features added or upgraded.

I installed FSX 2018 v5.2.0.3 that was released today and I think I need to revert to the last version. The dual display settings are messed. I have my secondary display setup for analysis to show up after each shot, which worked OK before the upgrade. Now, the analysis does show up for a second, but after a second it reduces down to about 1/3rd of the available screen and is very hard to read. Again, before the update, it was full screen.
The putting distance is now in feet, which is great.
The green grid hot-key still has that oddity where you need to press the on screen button for grid, *then* you can hit "G" on the keyboard to hide it and reactivate it via keyboard.. I thought they would fix this.
Ball flight near the greens is still choppy at times, which was never an issue prior to the update in June. Note, I have an 8th gen i7, 32 GB of ram and a 1080 video card.. no reason why it should be choppy.
The update was supposed to have ability to stay signed in to FSX Live, but I don't see any options for it in the login or settings (maybe I'm just missing it)
The issue with the analysis screen shrinking is a deal breaker.. I emailed Foresight support, and I'm hoping there is a workaround. If not, I guess I will need to downgrade to the last version, which really sucks..

Foresight should be able to provide you with a download link to the older version. I'm a bit surprised the dual screen is so jacked up considering how long we had to wait for this update. I'll do some testing tomorrow as I had a resolution issue with dual screen I was hoping would be fixed.
I've noticed the choppiness as well. Does it go away if you choose the Balanced graphics setting? I've just been dealing with it running full though. I think I tried balanced and from what I remember it stopped. I only have a 1070 though.

mmlincon not sure what issue you had with dual screen resolution but I also had a issue with different resolutions for my main projector and my 2nd screen which I posted in this thread a week or so ago where I found a workaround.. post 212

I’ve got the same issues - both with it being choppy near the green, and the grid only appears if I disable then re-enable.
I’m now logged in when I start up - although it took me a while to find the option!

New awkward bug - just started after the Sim crashed once while closing: The GC2 does not register any strikes (lamps are green, everything looks fine). I thought it could be the Flash - and changed it. Turns out, the GC2 works perfectly fine as long as FSX is not on. The device shows the strike data and everything seems to work just fine. Same with the App. If I start FSX, GC2 stops to get the strikes or to send ball data to the FSX. Did anybody encounter this before? (Have restarted several times; could try to reinstall....or upgrade to the new version that just came out - but people here seem to indicate I should wait?). Best from Berlin. Max

how are you connected to FSX? Bluetooth or USB? either way i have issues where in the devices section in settings it shows my GC2 as being connected but no shots will be picked up, so i click the disconnect button, then refresh the devices list on the left and select the GC2 again and click connect. this works every time for me.

I asked for about 2 years for a way of disconnecting / reconnecting my GC2 mid round without having to quit.
I’ve had it several times (pre-FSX2018) where the GC2 would drop connection and FSX wouldn’t register any shots. The only way to fix it was to quit the round, save it, and reconnect.
There are a few bugs when resuming a saved round (data didn’t save to FSX Live, reset match play score, score for hole reset even if you were on the green of a par5!), that made it a very annoying issue.
So far I’ve only played 1 round in FSX2018, so cant comment on whether it drops out for me.

Found a cool little bug in 5.2.0 today after upgrading. I was messing around with putting, as this seems to change with every update. I had a 8' straight putt on hole 12 that i missed slightly to the right and was a gimme. The game advanced to hole 13 and I clicked mulligan, wanting to try the putt again. I was put back on the same spot on the green, but was now playing hole 13, which was 650 yards away. I had no way of moving the ball to the 13th tee box. My only option was to skip the hole.
