    You still aren't getting it...

Contact swingsense and get a trial license... They will give you ALL the software you need to run Protee 2.0, so that you can test and make a decision. Once your trial expires it will no longer work. As for TGC, it comes with the whole package but as I said before, I'm not sure about a trial for that. You really need to contact swingsense. Stop worrying about GSX this and GSX that, it all comes together, trial or not.

I didn't go with the trail and paid the money glad I did. The protee is eh ok pretty much like foresights just not as good as graphics. TGC is what you are really paying for. Plus with e6 you are going to have to pay for each additonal course and be very limited. I've played on both TGC is by far better and for the price you get unlimited amount of courses. No contest really TGC wins hands down.

Ok - I get it now - thanks for persevering with me!
I'm not quite ready to get the software (probably another couple of weeks until I have everything set up), so I'll contact Swingsense then for a trial.

I was just trying to have everything in place and clear in my head for when Im ready.

Sounds good. I haven't tested anything else but Protee and TGC, but you won't be disappointed with TGC. Still lots of things they need to address with it because it's new, but it is already pretty great and has big upside.

            Hello p3eps,
Looks like Santa was nice to you. Save yourself the brain ache. You are going to want Protee/TGC with GSX. The Foresight software is ok if you are playing around by yourself / driving range, etc. If you want to play on an unlimited amount of courses without having to pay a fortune for each one, better graphics, online play, usability, then go the route as suggested. We all were in your shoes at one point
I started out with the Optishot a few years ago, upgraded to the Protee, and then on to the GC2 for better mobility in my garage. I was initially disappointed with the playability of the FS Redchain software (same software on the Protee FYI, but so much better to play with camera views). When the GSX came out, I could not be any happier. It allowed me to use my GC2 with the Protee software - best of both worlds. Also, I now had access to the entire library of courses to use (only had Brabazon on the GC2). With the TGC being recently released, it upped the anti even further.
            Have fun!

No Santa involved in afraid - these are all things I've been buying and building over the last month or so!! I've got a baby due in a couple of months, so it was a now or never decision!

Given the price of Foresight courses, the ProTee / TGC option definitely seems like a no brainer. I quite liked the look of the 'games' in the Foresight package (breaking windows, crazy putting etc), and the driving range would be useful for getting to know the real distances each club hits, as well as being able to practice shot shapes.

By the time I'm all set up, trying both software versions would take me into February - so I'd have all of January's paycheck that I didn't blow on golf simulator stuff. That'd please my wife a bit ha ha!

You will be wasting your time. No sense comparing FS to ProTee or TGC. There's no comparison. It will work with your GC2. When there are problems, it's usually related to bluetooth issues. Follow my instructions to the T and you'll be fine. Also look at TGC computer's thread to make sure your pc is up to it.

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I have set up my screen, mat, etc, and have the GC2.

I've emailed in to swingsense asking for the evaluation key, been 3 days waiting to get the key, killing me.

                  cheers,

I emailed in to swingsense and asked for an evaluation key, but didn't hear back from them.

But then just now I tried Protee Portal, and when I clicked play for the demo game, it worked. Does this mean they assigned an evaluation key for me but just didn't bother to let me know? Confused.

Also, because I haven't heard back from swingsense, i have no way of downloading the gsx setup. Does anyone have a suggestion so I can give this all a try?

                    thanks,

When did you email them? They might still be on holiday. You will need a license key for the interface.

first contact was 26th(9 days), then followed up probably 6 days ago.

i gave up waiting and put in an order for the software. maybe that will get me some attention.

looking forward to teeing it up.

There you go. You don't need a stinking trial license. Go ahead and read the tour info and sign up.

Craig, those guys are very responsive so they must be on holiday. Very typical to have a nice long holiday break (Christmas thru New Years) in Europe, so they'll probably get back to you tomorrow. Just a guess. My two cents on GC2 with FS software vs ProTee software: The ProTee with the GC2 is a no brainer. - Many more ProTee courses out of the box... Online play capabilities with ProTee, but not with FS. The new partnership with TGC makes a great combination into an incredible one. The only true advantage for FS over ProTee is the driving range statistical analysis in FS. ProTee has nothing comparable. The ProTee ranges are fine but don't retain all hit data from a session, just the last shot, the best shot and the average. I'm fairly certain you can't export the data either. This one positive isnt enough to justify the FS over ProTee unless you are the type to get absolutely nuts with analysis and that's what you'll spend most of your time on over the long haul. Probably not the case for the vast majority, so don't hesitate in going with ProTee. You could always get the FS later this year if you really wanted it for that data analysis purpose. I suspect the new FSX software will finally come out sometime this year and the price of the current FS software will drop significantly. Good luck with your setup!

I sent an email asking for a trial of ProTee too, and haven't heard anything back. I'm in Europe too, so wasn't really expecting a reply until after the 5th January - as that's when I go back to work.

Part of my buying a GC2 was to enable me to get an average distance for each of my clubs. I have a rough idea from using my Garmin on the course, but I was looking to get something a bit more concrete.
I was hoping to be able to hit say 50 balls with a 7 iron at the range, and take an average. And trying to figure out how hard to hit a 7 iron before I need an 8 iron etc. If this isn't possible with ProTee, then I guess I could just use the FS iPad app? I think it will give me an average per club? Obviously it's not going to be as nice as it being projected on my screen, but don't think it's worth paying for the Foresight Performance software just for this.

I got an email back today - saying they don't currently do a trial license due to it being a 10gb download and a lot of hassle issuing licenses for a week.
A bit of a shame as I'd really like to try before I buy, but hey ho... I guess that ain't happening!
