  • TGC 2 PC version

I bought this today on Steam.

    --- Best new features---
You can now tab-out when in full-screen mode, and the game doesnt break when tabbing back in. It appears that the fullscreen mode is actually borderless window. Hooray.

No more launcher (that takes 30 seconds to load), before you can launch the game. Game now loads immediatley, and takes only 10 seconds or so to fully load and be playable.

    --- Graphics ----
A nice improvement from TGC 1. Everything looks better, the game runs better, its all nice and smooth. However they do over-use bloom effects (sometimes the ball is so bloomed it looks like its on fire). Also the lighting effects are somewhat extreme. One shot to the next can have very different lighting and brightness. Its like HDR on steroids.

Depth of field appears to have almost no effect, or its so little its not noticeable. On TGC 1, DOF was a terrible blurry mess. So I guess its better (but may not be working at all).

    Screenshots of graphics options attached.

    --- UI ----
Better than TGC 1. Have not really messed with course searching yet.

    --- Sound ----
    Great, just like TGC 1.

    --- Physics ---
Greens hold alot easier. Doesnt feel like all greens are made of ice. Chips may check up a bit too much. Ball bouncing looks good, more realistic.

    ----Putting ----
It feels pretty good. Not sure what has changed compared to TGC 1, but it was good already in TGC 1.

    ---Issues---
Probably the servers are getting hammered, but right now it takes a LONG time (minutes) to resume a saved round. Sometimes your saved round wont actually load and you have to start a new one. Also first time loading in a course is taking 1-2 minutes.

ProTee United If I purchase TGC2 and use it to design courses, will those new courses sync with the SIM version, or do I need to continue using TGC1 for the time being?

ProTee United Great question above! I would assume it's not backwards compatible, but confirmation would be good.

Courses designed in TGC2 can not be played on TGC1.
You can load your TGC1 creations in TGC2 and update/publish in TGC2.

        It's indeed not backwards compatible.

Any ideas when TGC 2 will be available for the simulator? I'm a bit hesitant to purchase TGC when I know a newer version will be out eventually. Thanks.

Probably 6-9 months. Upgrade is expected to be free.

Good thing ProTee waits until the bugs are worked out. Just saying.

I can't wait to build a course in TGC2. I've been itching to build a decent sim version of TPC Scottsdale now that I've played it and have a good idea about the lay of the land. May just do it in TGC1
