BTW im not saying these will perfect, but need people swing at these settings, and then using the stats section on optishot to give average swing speed and average distance.
Please dont just say its wrong etc, as aurin thought 89 89 would be very short for him, turned out pretty close to exactly where he should be

i think thats too low... i was driving it 270 with verified 116-122 average 118-119 swingspeed... peronally i think 93 93 would probably be good for almost golf ball foam ball setting with stock turf and normal tee. hit way over 100 drives testing it.Originally posted by Buckeye View PostI think Auri is testing now. Hopefully he will see this.
maybe 92 92. kinda disagree with 89 89 as it was 270 with 118-119 verified ss.Last edited by MatalaWedge; 01-02-2015, 11:10 PM.

Just finished playing round 3 at Warwick Hills. Had 3 misreads for drives that came out at 293, 306 and 316 . 1 was in my favor and the other two travelled through doglegs and into crap. Settings are 100% speed, 97% distance with an aftermarket thick hitting pad. All my other drives were right where they should be , between 220 - 240 . I've set all my clubs up using an ES12 which measures ballspeed and extrapolates total distance or just carry , depending on which you choose. I've been able to dial in my irons very close to real world distances, and even my 4W at 100% speed, 91% distance. Woods are both taped with black gaff tape and white reflective strip. I don't have an issue with it measuring 98% of my drives , it's just that odd 1 or 2 a round that just goes an unrealistic distance. My ss has been measured between 90-95 on average but I can bump it up over 100 consistently if I'm on the range just trying to drive the ball solidly, during game play I smooth out my swing and average between 88-92mph.

What kind of ball are you using. From the testing I did it almost sounds like foam ball.Originally posted by John D View PostJust finished playing round 3 at Warwick Hills. O h I though 89 SS gave some pretty solid readings. Auri will break down all the numbers tomorrow and possibly adjust percentages but concept is definitely there. percentages may need a a tweak but dont think theres any doubt in the concept
All players need to reduce distance and foam ball players need to reduce speed as well. With a bit more work sure can come up with something workable and bit more definitive

We did the math... It was 16 yds short of 2.5xss.Originally posted by JohnMeyer View PostBTW im not saying these will perfect, but need people swing at these settings, and then using the stats section on optishot to give average swing speed and average distance.

Still think its short.

Like I said. I was barely getting over 250 with 105 ss. So for somebody using a real ball would be at a big disadvantage and that's not fair either.Originally posted by JohnMeyer View Post
Willy SS of 95 you shouldnt be getting much more than 250, in fact should be 237.5. hence the 89% DISTANCE setting. As real ball SPEED setting stays at 100
Do you IRL drive 95 SS and hit over 250 yards? Are you using stock turf?
Also I though you had data to prove yours anyway?
I do see extra distance with a foam ball and yes 90 might be s good mark to set at. But for myself I'm not going to use foam ball when I can hit the real ball.

Needs further testing but we got off to a good start. Next time i will plug my gear into a charger before we start so that we have it all up and running.
My further thougts. Thick turf or very high tee will decrease swing speed readings. FACT.
Hitting almost golf ball with foam setting gives higher swing speed reading than real ball with real setting. FACT
Probably a significant amount too... Something that will need to be adressed..
No ball is basically unusable on my opti. Go lol at the youtube video if you like...
I did not see any difference in speed or reading with different light setups. NOT GOING TO CALL THAT ONE YET
Hitting over 100 full speed drives in one night will make your back ache and it will also make your wife mad. FACT
GNIGHT ALL.Last edited by MatalaWedge; 01-02-2015, 11:28 PM.

100 speed 90 distance needs some testing for the real ball guys[/QUOTE]
Okay I tried this one also and that stats are in. Hit 20 shots. 263 average with 106 ss average.
Like I said before. Leaving it at 100 across the board with real ball is just about spot on I find the swing speed is a little lower then normal when set at 100 but the ball is still traveling about the same distance I hit IRl.

I would say you've actually proved that 100 /90 is spot on
As a generic calculation which I think based on the limitations imposed on us by this sim, discounting spin and lauch angle etc
Swing speed x 1.5 = ball speed
Ball speed x 1.5 (smash factor) = carry distance
Carry distance x 1.1 (rollout) = total distance
1.5 x 1.5 x 1.1 = 2.48
On 100/90 setting you got
Average Swing speed 106
Average distance 263
106 x 2.48 = 263
You can't ask for a more perfect rest out come than that
My results earlier in the day also ran true to this
At 100/100 you wudda got distances of around 280- 290 at 106. This is far to long a distance for that swing speed
More real ball people should try these settings and post results please
