Smash factor I agree could be set lower, rollout could be higher/lower but I think even using 2.5 will be far far better than what we've got at the minute.
Just did some quick testing. Hit around 20 balls. The 90% distance setting appears to be pretty close to me. I lowered my SS just a tad as well. I average around 108 mph and this seems to produce that consistently. Like I stated earlier, I use Jagmanjoe's turf. I also use almost balls and use the foam setting. I'll post video after it uploads.

Your turf will make a difference, auri proved that having the driver swinger higher about the sensors reduced swing speed so as I said you shouldn't need to reduce speed to 90 just the distance
What was ya average distance and average ss over those 20 swings
Okay I tried this one also and that stats are in. Hit 20 shots. 263 average with 106 ss average.
Like I said before. Leaving it at 100 across the board with real ball is just about spot on I find the swing speed is a little lower then normal when set at 100 but the ball is still traveling about the same distance I hit IRl.
I would say you've actually proved that 100 /90 is spot on
As a generic calculation which I think based on the limitations imposed on us by this sim, discounting spin and lauch angle etc
Swing speed x 1.5 = ball speed
Ball speed x 1.5 (smash factor) = carry distance
Carry distance x 1.1 (rollout) = total distance
1.5 x 1.5 x 1.1 = 2.48
On 100/90 setting you got
Average Swing speed 106
Average distance 263
106 x 2.48 = 263
You can't ask for a more perfect rest out come than that
My results earlier in the day also ran true to this
At 100/100 you wudda got distances of around 280- 290 at 106. This is far to long a distance for that swing speed
More real ball people should try these settings and post results please[/QUOTE]
Like I said in many other posts. The mph on optishot is off. IRl I swing 116-124 with smash factor of 1.46 which is around 285.
Also stated in other post I'm swinging 105 on optishot which I keep saying is wrong but the distance is just about spot on so it makes up for the swing speed.
But I do believe foam ball is off. If the real ball falls under the rules of foam ball then I'm out because to me that is not a true reading and I will not play a foam ball.
So please stop comparing real balls to foam balls. It's not in the same ball park and I wish optishot wouldn't hsve this option because if it did then there would be no discussion of distance.
We are never going to get anywhere at this rate of "my way or the highway". I think we should seek the truth... Not seek what would suite us best. The truth is still a fair way away but we will get there eventually. I think this should be done with a big enough sample size to prove it beyond any reasonable doubt. Getting it done before the RC will be doubtful. Auri
I would say you are the only one who has said their opti read swing speed too slow and are using a real ball.
Are you using stock turf or aftermarket?
Other than that Agree completely. What I'm saying is if you are a foam ball player you will have to have different settings to a real ball player as like you say Opti over reads the swing speed if you use foam ball but not if you use real ball
So for you, a real ball player you would set your optishot to 100 speed, 90 distance
However if you can prove to the board that opti gives you incorrect swing speed you could show evidence (trackman/gc2 etc to the board and they could approve you being able to adjust your speed setting upwards to reflect your real life speed, leaving the distance at 90% like every other real ball player
If however you decided you wanted to use a foam ball you would have to set your speed setting to 90% and your distance setting to 90%. The same caveat would apply regarding proven speeds.
I would state whilst I'm confident in the real ball settings the foam ball settings still need more testing although from auris last set of tests may well be 89% speed 100% distance for foam ball users
I did a short video between real ball and foam ball on the driving range. I pointed out the settings and hopefully this will clear the air with real vs foam balls.
Your testing is bang in line with mine and auris, 277 at 109 ss is ratio 2.54, so maybe try again at 89% and should be on the money
However this is a lot better than we were at 100 distance so a definite step in right direction
Yours is s bit of a specialist case due to the increase height of your turf
Need some foam ball users with standard turf to do some testing, at 100/100 90/100 89/100
90/90 89/89
If we can get a full set of data for these different combinations one of them hopefully will be a best fit combo
I know joe, and auri have this setup so need them and at least one more to test so between them testing those 6 combos should be able to get some decent data
Myself willy and I think maxxx all hit real balls, with myself and will already getting 2.5 ratio results at 100/90 setting, so hopefully when maxxx hits his (may have already done it) we can get a definite set of data there
Vega has confirmed data for foam ball users with thick turf
May need to test real ball user with thick turf. I would guess they may need to increase their speed %
The video where I show hitting the real ball was at 100 for both settings. It's the foam setting I had set at 90 and still getting ridiculous swing speed.
