  • To be real or not to be real?

Set Optishot for real life distances or not?

  • Gents this is were we are at on the New Guidelines

First of all every Golfer needs to know their Distance that hit the Driver, most of us know this...

Because the Speed to distance relationship is wrong in Optishot, we need to get both corrected with settings..

First is knowing your Distance... Once you know your Distance the first thing that needs to be corrected is the Speed Setting... Using the a simple proven calculation of Speed * 2.5 = Distance we can all set our Speed in relationship to Distance the same... This is not a perfect science but will get everyone to what they hit in real life...

After the Speed setting is adjusted Correctly, the Distance will be adjusted to match your True distance on the Golf Course.....

This Is the Way we are going to Address the Distance Issue.... There will be no one size fits all, everyone has different Setups and so forth....

Thanks for all the input, now go and make the necessary adjustments this will be added to our Guidelines..

If Distance seem to be Long the Board will address it one on one with the Player/....

    Thanks CatMan

Yeah, as in do my own testing and see if my results are the same as these other guys. I'm assuming it will be. You need to relax and ease up on all the abrasive posts. Listen, I'm not some weekend warrior who thinks he hits it a mile. I'm one of the ones who started this discussion to begin with weeks ago when I stated that some were matching the longest hitters on tour with their swings. This is a work in progress, and we'll get it "dialed in" on getting the most realistic settings that we can.

        • Gents on a different Topic,

if you are Planning on Playing this Event we need to know by Tomorrow, Saturday 12:00 Noon EST.. Teams will be created, and Captains will be doing Pairings for 1st Event on Monday, and will continue to do pairing for remaining events as the Ryder Cup is being played out....

If you all ready re-committed your name is already taking into account..

          Thanks

          • Okay guys might know where some are coming from. I did some testing and can do it over again and record it if I have to.

So on real ball settings and playing real ball in which I do. I average 288 on 109 mph swing. Which I believe is 6 miles slower then what I swing and about the same distance has normal. Highest swing speed I had was 114 and that went 303 yards.

Now onto the foam ball with foam settings. Average distance was 293 with 111 average swing speed. Fastest swing speed was 119 with a ball travel of 310.

Now onto the no ball with no ball settings. Average drives were 300 yards with a average swing speed of 116 and had 330 yard drives with a 130mhp swing speed.

So to sum this up if your playing real ball your fine with your settings at 100 and if your on foam ball it may have to be set back to 90 and no ball maybe 85.

            • Catman just for info Auri has been doing some very very extensive testing on this and may possibly have some interesting results which may give some possible fixed number solutions. From reading your post may well be a mute point now but will post results as I interpret them, and sure Aurin will too if you dont mind us continuing the discussion

              • I have no issue with the discussion but we all need to get within guidelines before Ryder Cup if participating, and Before Start of 2nd Season if plan on sticking around..

                • Can somebody do some tests with both swing speed and distance at .90?

                    Thank you for the update.

Just to clarify, when you say "distance" you mean "over all real world distance including roll out" and not just "carry distance" right?

Brad and I discussed this a few pages back and I just want to make sure we are all speaking the same language is all.

I think Auri is testing now. Hopefully he will see this.

                        • Okay so now I did some testing with settings on 90.

Real ball I was barely getting over 250 with a swing speed of 95. To me that is not real life golf and if I have to set to that I will not be playing anymore.

Okay now onto the foam ball. I know where some guys are coming from. Was driving 270 average with s swing speed of 105.

I never tried no ball but I'm thinking it will be even more.

So after doing this testing I do believe hitting foam balls should be at 90 and if using real ball you could leave it at 100.

Willy this is nearly in line with our testing, although I still think getting 288 off a 109 is a bit long, wouldve expected and average of around 272, which I would have thought was a Distamce reduction of down to 90%

Aurin I would say has hit over 100 drives tonight, using dozens of settings and we have come up with the following, which I would love as many of you to test as possible and see how it compares to your real life distances and swing speeds

So far we believe Real ball players should reduce DISTANCE % to 89 to give them the 2.5 ratio as swing speed appear to read correctly

Foam Ball players on STOCK TURF should reduce Swing SPEED to 89% as Optishot reads Foam Speed too fast AND DISTANCE to 89% to correct the 2.5 ratio

Foam Ball Players on thicker after market turf may just adjust just DISTANCE to 89 as the increased distance from the sensor does carry out the speed reduction (this has has limited testing and would need Vega or any other thick turf player to test more in depth)

Real Players on aftermarket thick turf may well be fine on 100, 100, again needs further testing

                            Any thoughts

Willy SS of 95 you shouldnt be getting much more than 250, in fact should be 237.5. hence the 89% DISTANCE setting. As real ball SPEED setting stays at 100

Do you IRL drive 95 SS and hit over 250 yards? Are you using stock turf?

Also I though you had data to prove yours anyway?
