Ffs im not saying players cant. Im saying isnt it odd that ALL the players who bought optishot can?Originally posted by JohnMeyer View PostI think if everyone set 90% driver distance then for some it would be too much, some would be too little. If you can all decide on what distance an "acceptable" drive will go at each swing speed then could get a % distance number that equates to that as I suggested above.
Using the term average golfer should hit x is useless without saying what swing speed each golfer hits at. I just hate this mentality of "theres no way you can drive that far because the internet says so"

I'll take that you are not open to a discussion and want to do what you want.Originally posted by CatMan View PostMike your spinning again, if you are that unhappy, get a different Sim,
There is no spin to it and has been shown in this thread the vast majority agree with me. Perhaps you should have purchased a playstation instead.

So why would I change my settings when I can actually hit those numbers irl. the biggest challenge I have on optishot is the putting. so I am not going to change my settings I just looked at my average drives in the stats its says 289 which is very close to what I hit..Originally posted by MrHogan View PostSo willy you really think our tour is blessed with 100% big hitters compared to the other tours. I really for the life of me cannot understand why folks wont agree to an across the board % cut to bring us in line with the other simulators and real life for that matter.

Maybe just post a video of you on a Trackman or GC2 showing your swing and ball data with carry at the same time. Perhaps this will silence the critics once and for all. It sounds like your settings at 100 are accurate for you but not for most guys?

But therefore a solution that is the same for ALL players would be wrong then. I dont think there is any disagreement that for some players the distance settings are wrong for driver, hence the guidlines state everyone should try and make there clubs as realistic as possible.Originally posted by MrHogan View PostFfs im not saying players cant. You have said to me that you dont think what I drive is realistic as the average says its not and Im being over ambitious with my yardage. I don't think I am and have provided both trackman data and calculations to prove that Im not
however I totally agree with you that people need to adjust settings to get there drive distances down to a realistic figure. Ive also given my view of how best to do it. Pro tee guys average 240 its been said. i think that was 240 carry as well. Well at 240 carry using my formula before, 1.5 club to ball speed multiplier, x 1.5 smash factor (2.25) means they hitting 106 mph club head which sounds right to me, but its the rollout that doesnt ring true. We hardly get any rollout on optishot, hence why i think rollout gotta be worth 10%,could say 5% if that makes it seem better, as drives seem to hit and stop on Optishot, so distance percentage should be that at 106 mph swing speed we're driving 250.
I still think that 5% rollout is low and think 10% is more realistic hence why set a ratio of 2.47 so 106 swing speed should give you 262 yards.
Simply put surely everyone should just tinker with the distance percentage until they get a distance of 2.47 x their swing speed.
Is that something we could work with as a start as this "discussion" isnt really providing any solutions, just disagreementsLast edited by JohnMeyer; 01-01-2015, 08:30 PM.

I would propose that we ask everyone do their best to tweak their settings to real world results. I spent over an hour this morning re-calibrating and verifying settings. On the range, all of my clubs are extremely close to my real world results. I then went and played 9 holes at Warwick using Round 1 environment settings. For the most part, my results were very much "real world" distances. I did find that the wind affects distance more than what I would have expected.
I fully understand the hard part will be the "monitoring". That is just something we will have to deal with on a case by case basis.

We are in the discussion phase and I have indicated multiple time where I sit on this matter in the Thread I am sure over 10 times, we haven't set anything formal and wouldn't until after this Tournament if we decide to do so....
The fact is you want it your Way Right Now, its not going to happen that way...
If the Board feels we need to make a change to our current Guidelines we will move ahead and do so...
I don't know what else you want me to say, I cant help you score lower, that's something you need to work on..
we can reduce the distance of the driver... And I have suggested my Ideas on it....
The best thing you can do is drop it, we know where you stand on it load and clear..... Your not helping anything but causing division...

I didn't single out anyones distances ive always tried to maintain its odd that we all hit massive.Originally posted by JohnMeyer View PostYou have said to me that you dont think what I drive is realistic as the average says its not and Im being over ambitious with my yardage. it was you that said you were over ambitious with your distances.Originally posted by JohnMeyer View PostYes I agree perhaps I am being a little bit generous on the distances but these are total distances not carry distances.

Where did you see drive stats, is that on optishot itself?

The fact is you are a complete and utter idiot if you truly feel this way. I offered suggestions and even dropped my suggestion when it was pointed out that my suggestion took away the advantage of longer players off a tee. I then supported another members (Hogan's) suggestion. So this isn't about "My way right now". Stop making things up if you want to be taken seriously John.Originally posted by CatMan View PostThe fact is you want it your Way Right Now, its not going to happen that way...
Good. I have done nothing but address the board. Go read the early posts, I state over and over "I hope the board considers this". Never once have I stated "This needs to happen or I'm gone". So knock of the personal attacks and have a decent conversation like a grown man.Originally posted by CatMan View PostIf the Board feels we need to make a change to our current Guidelines we will move ahead and do so...
Where did I ever complain about scores and more specifically about MY score? I'm beginning to wonder if you have a reading comprehension. Seriously.Originally posted by CatMan View PostI don't know what else you want me to say, I cant help you score lower, that's something you need to work on..
Disagree completely. Healthy discussion is what this group needs to iron out these problems. It is perfectly clear to just about everyone that the program has errors AND HAS THE ABILITY TO CORRECT THEM. Why you can't see that or refuse to address it is beyond me. Hiding the problems by not discussing them is not magically going to make them go away.Originally posted by CatMan View PostThe best thing you can do is drop it, we know where you stand on it load and clear.....
