Good question Buckeye and why I "disagree" with Hoganwood's comments above. Optishot gives little if any roll. Since I know my actual averages, On the range, I set mine to replicate total distance.

I'm soooo not interested in swing speeds.. All that matters is ball distance not carry, total. Everyone knows how far they hit their woods - hence all the whining, but yet again no one provides their averages except the same 2 who did before. I don't know what's so secret about it.
To play an online game the settings need to be the same for everyone. Just agree the %. 90% seems popular I think that's too high but I won't whine i'll accept it so we can get a bit of realism into the game.

This is why I think a fixed rule needs implemeting. i was against it at the start as I naively believed people would do the right thing but HoganWoods is most probably right.

Willy makes an interesting point, that by actually making a poor shot, ie a top it actually makes your shot better not worse Unfortunately again due to the limitations of the sim theres nothing we can do about it.

Its just so difficult to make everyone satisfied, but I would say in general 95% of players are hitting the ball further on here than they would in real life, and in order to stop this the simple answer is to reduce the driver distance to 90%. if your in the 5% that 100% is spot on for you, I think thats really unfortunate and you will be disadvantaged as your yardage will drop, but as it stands your even more disadvantage because at 100% I can hit 289 too and my swing speed is 104, whereas I should be 265.

I think you may well come under perhaps a special circumstance rule that could be implemented where if you could prove you swing speed and distance etc from an external source, ie trackman etc and this is verified you can raise the distance setting to an approved amount but for the vast majority of players I believe distance setting needs reigning in to 90%

Something has got to be done to try and get the realism right here, surely a ruling to benefit the vast majority with some caveats for the "proven" big hitters could be implemented

They wont be disadvantaged as the whole field is hitting 10% shorter. This why i cannot understand all the fuss, we are all impacted the same. The decision is really do we want fairway bunkers and dog legs to be in play or not coz right now their not.

I know we had a difference of opinion earlier on but Im big enough to say you had this near enough right from the start. 90% is a good starting point at least and we can at least try it and see. Ive videoed me hitting at 90% and averaged 259 which I think is pretty much what I expected, and pretty much in line with my real life experience.

I was about to recommend exactly this. Limit distance and maybe even swing speed also to .90 or whatever you guys deem is average. Then if anybody feels they need to go above it, provide video proof of swing and ball data from either Trackman/Flightscope or GC2 to the Optishot board.

hey guys, I did a bit of testing at 92%, 90% real ball and foam ball. I use an "almostgolf" golfball and use the "real ball setting at 90%. It's heavier than a foam ball but lighter than a real one. I think the 90% distance is fine but I find I try to hit the ball harder now 😂

Let me know if 90 or 92 is closer to the 2.5 zone.

Also, I havent tried it yet but has anyone with a swing sense or a confirmed clubhead speed tried selecting "no ball " and swing without a ball on the optishot ? We will know exactly how much it's off by . Just an idea

Hey Nick ! Select no ball and swing without a ball at 100% in both speed and distance and weyou can compare it with yojr swing sense .

I use AlmostGolf balls too (setting "foam ball") and set my wood distances to 90 and this seems to be the correct real life distances for me (with roll). I'll test this with setting "real ball"...
