Another vote for no.
Unofficial opinion on 5% alteration

I'd say no. I played without it on Skytrak and I play without it on Uneekor. Some want to say it isn't that big of an advantage but it can be two clubs (a 250 yard carry would be 263 plus any roll plus whatever boost you'd get with the iron into the green). If you are coming in with a PW and I have to hit an 8iron, I'd say you have the advantage.

I just tested iron 5% tonight. Irons were 15 yards longer carry. My driver is about 12 yards longer. If using 5% on all clubs you could be shortening the course by 400 yards. 6500 to 6100
If your unable or unwilling to use 5% you are disadvantaged and it's big. Maybe this will help lead to a rules change.

I vote no boost, but if this doesn’t go through, the boost part of rules need to be rewritten as such to state that if you use boost i.e on a driver, you use it on every drive, none of this selective nonsense when it suits..

I don’t believe you can turn it on or off mid game, can you? I was under the assumption For the settings to be saved the game can’t be active.
-
You can have driver set to 5%, but if you have a hazard in play and want to hit it shorter you can select iron or fairway wood (assuming you didn’t boost those) then you wouldn’t get the 5%.. people have been known to do this... and is definitely not in the spirit of the game in my opinion but the rules don’t prohibit this either..

Don’t care, maybe a no so people will stop whining about it? Nothing will change with leaderboards and next they will be complaining about straight putt or green setting etc. It’s not going to end with boost. Boost was put in for people with the more affordable LM be able to keep up as ball speeds were down. Now others want to take it away from the people who want to get IRL numbers for what? Because they think they have a better chance at winning at free 0$ tournament online lol take it out of the game and watch them go on to the next thing when the leaderboards don’t change.Last edited by Bender96; 01-18-2020, 12:18 PM.

Leaderboards may not change but people cheating and using it when they have $6000 launch monitors that read just fine will . And the people who switch the club to the boosted ones and then hit a different club, is that fine also?
We don't wanna take it away from the people who need it, we wanna take it away because people are using it that shouldn't be and it's ridiculous.
Other tours don't allow any of the adjustments and not one person cries about anything. They set the green speeds, the wind, the whole nine and every guy plays the EXACT same course under the same conditions like it should be.

I’ve said multiple times that I don’t agree with selective boosting. I’ve said it to you a couple times directly, so you know I don’t think that is okay. My point is the top of the leaderboard won’t change and the guys who get hurt by the change are the ones further down trying to get their first top 10, top 20, 30 etc. You say you don’t want to take it away from the people who need it but those are the ones that get affected most by the change not the guy who shoots -10 that may shoot -9 now.Last edited by Bender96; 01-19-2020, 02:09 PM.

It's a no for me as well. I would be ok if Admins set the rule so it applies to everyone, whatever it is. Also, count me among those who are absolutely stunned that people cheat at Sim Golf...--
What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

I don’t think I’ll ever understand the allure of sim golf
competition
competing is meant to be done on a fair and level field
and there’s 0 way to get That
the units
the matts
the boost
the putting
the the the the
simply can’t get to a level place
i can see playing in a tournament where all the players are in the same room on the same equipment even at different times
but this online thing against ppl in different rooms on different equipment
not for me
not ever

Rich kids have new and shiny clubs and poor kids have used rusty clubs and beaten up lake balls. The guys in the morning played with no rain and no wind... Guys in the afternoon played in a storm. It ain't that simple outside either. Why don't we just do OUR BEST to level the playing field and be done with it. At the moment we are not doing our best. Unekoor guys CAN NOT boost. Why are the rest of us still boosting? We must be a right lot of "you know whats" if we tell them that it's just their problem.
Pretty please with sugar on top. Let's get rid of this coversation once and for all.Last edited by MatalaWedge; 01-18-2020, 05:13 PM.

Wiz enjoys live matches bestn because you can make the rules for your match and you play on equal ground. Discord live video is sweet. Meeting many great chaps with the same passion that is golf. The tournaments are great but the settings need locked down.

I'd vote no alteration. I'm limited to swinging hybrids off the tee so I currently have +5 on woods only since I have to assume much of the field is +5 Driver. Not even sure if +5 woods applies to hybrids but I figure it does since shot recording shows 3W/5W. Would be great if players settings could be seen publicly for tournaments.

Boost was made for people like you, unfortunately you gain nothing because guys with perfectly capable launch monitors and space want an extra 20 yards off the tee just because it's not against the rules.
-
my understanding was the 5%was made for protee lm for tweaking it so all lms were allowed 5%. I too have limited ceilling height 93in. What is your ceiling height?
-
Wiz I have a bit more space than you with 96" clearance from my hitting surface, but I feel the need to flatten my swing to a point I'd rather not when I swing driver. I'm 6 feet tall. Plus a full speed driver swing just feels so violent in my basement lol. Kids sleeping upstairs, etc. Outdoor golf I rely on hitting long drives and short irons/wedges into greens, so my sim setup has forced me to course manage a bit more and improve long iron game. Its all good

As much as it pains me, as a fan of the Habs, Bender96 (with his Leafs logo) has perfectly captured my thoughts.
I’d vote yes for boost on drive only to help fight the ISS but can easily live without it.
I have to admit though that it’s a pain to think about removing it since the default is always Driver (can we change that?)

I vote no on + boost. I'd be in favor of allowing - boost. For whatever reason my device reads my wedges as going a good bit further than I ever hit them in real life (maybe because they are a very old set of wedges) so a little - boost helps keep things more accurate.

You guys who don't want boost and want to play something more like you do outside, go play the True sim society lol
you get wind, no gimmies and higher scores all around.
shameless plug

I vote no boost. I’m totally not buying this concept that guys need the 5% to get to their IRL numbers. If people care about IRL, then they should also be lobbying for playing with Wind, as I’ve never played in real life with absolutely 0 wind.
