But maybe think a little past your nose and see the bigger problem with that: I'm not alone. There will be fewer people for you to play against, to a varying degree. I have no idea how much. Based on the post count per LM on the main page, I'm guessing not too small.
So, with all that in mind, once again, I think I'm advocating for Hardware Specific Tournaments. If for no better reason than to not hear as many people have to cry.Comment

Honestly I've backed away from the tournaments because I couldn't reconcile being a 2 handicap in real life and getting beat week in week out by 10 shots per round on average. I don't use any adjustments whatsoever, never have and wouldn't even know where to find them.
At this point I'm enjoying playing all Lidar courses with no gimmies, and guess what you can actually miss a 2 foot putt. Anyway not really what you were asking but just my two cents worth.
Btw if someone wanted to have a GC2 society with no adjustments and no gimmies on all Lidar courses I'd be happy to play and take my 10 shot beating from Rory.Comment

Hop in the true sim my man. I am trying to get the game to be more like playing outdoors. Some people dont want that, they want 6 foot gimmies and no wind so they can have an easier time of it. No gimmies, wind howling at times, beautiful courses and no boost. What more can you ask for ?

Everyone is different, right? I personally don't mind Wind. We play in it for real, don't we? I don't even mind no boost, really. So you got me by a couple yards on the drive. So does anyone IRL who focuses heavily on the Drive. I'll just try and beat you with the approach. No problem...
How.ev.er... Putting with the ST is just about enough for me to want to put my head through the wall some times. I PRAY for the putt or chip to simply be within 6 ft so I don't have to deal with the "short putt scenario". And I don't pray. I'm Atheist. LOL
After all, it's a Sim, but it's still just a game. In Sim Racing (which I also do) everyone is always complaining and arguing about physics and tire/traction modeling between the different games. I have a full (non motion) rig, and know what it feels like for real in the car, and I have yet to play a Racing Sim that can compare fully. I don't think Golf Sim is much different. That being the case, it's never gonna be perfect. Ever.
The trick is getting as close as possible AND still having fun. I can tell you that for sure from my Sim Racing. That is the formula that makes for a fun time, and plenty of people to play along with.

We should also remember that Skytrak does not use the gsx interface. Rapsodo built their own integration, which is why you have to buy tgc & 19 from skygolf direct. Gsx has a "putting forgiveness" setting. Pretty sure it's still a thing, although it's ages since I set mine up. This setting is basically straight putting for gc2 & protee systems. If you set to 2, it covers the 1.5 degree error on a gc2 and reads as straight. I believe that is why protee decided to create the straight putting patch (for Skytrak originally, but now everyone with the setting) - it was already there for gc2 & protee in gsx so was unfair to anyone who used a custom interface (like skytrak).
Yes, the gc2 is just plain better. But there's more to the story than that...

I don't play many tournaments, so, my opinion really shouldn't count....but, another player told me about the straight putting setting, so I went in to settings and clicked it on. Now I use the Uneekor and I can tell you it is amazing how accurate it picks up putts. I would say having the straight putting "on" would make a 5 to 10 stroke difference in my game. (You would be amazed at how many times my putts are offline...lol) but honestly, I played a couple rounds and I ended up turning it back off.....it just wasn't real golf to me.
A huge part of my game is putting (and my weakness) and when I don't have to worry about keeping the putt on line and just worry about distance control, my scores really drop.....but, it's just not my goal...which is "making my sim golf as close to my real life golf as possible. The good news is that my I feel my putting is really getting better thanks to my Uneekor. I am stroking the ball much more consistent down my putting line.
Anyway, can't speak to the ST putting issue but would seem to me that if it is that bad for ST users then perhaps the best way is to have tournaments is where you just don't putt.....that way you are not helping one segment at the expense of another group of users.....get on the green, add 2 putts if outside of 8ft. and one putt if inside of 8 feet.
But I can tell you, when you don't have to worry about putting off line, that's a huge "boost" against those that do......Comment

At least everyone can turn straight putt on or off.. Uneekor owners can't use boost..not that they need it but neither do Gc2 owners but they seem to have no issue using it . Straight putt is definitely a WAY bigger advantage than 5% boost .. guys nailing 20-30 footers here like they're tapping in 18 inch putts outdoors -
It's absolutely a huge benefit for those people that can't get a putt rolling on their line. We need greater separation in these tournaments. Lock the settings and make putting great again with no straight putt patch for all!

I was fairly certain of that. And even if it just came down to the Average Joes here running a Tourney, then the pain would be on them. That fact is integral to the strategy of my suggestion.In the end, it would be more administrative work for ProTee to create separate hardware specific tournaments and I don't think they're interested in doing that.

Its not a bad idea at all Shipwreck. I'd play in a Skytrak only gross scoring society. I'm just not sure how you could manage membership to ensure that you're only allowing specific hardware. The other problem I see would be participation if these rounds wouldn't count toward handicaps. -
And I don't have the experience necessary to understand how to do those thing either, EG$ , but I was certain that people who do would chime in one way or the other, thus hopefully directing the conversation. I have yet to see these comments... perhaps I've missed them.
Personally I'm fine with 5%, or without. I'm fine with Wind, or without. Other than that, I'm not good enough for anything less than 6' gimmes and the "Straight Putt" patch in order for the round to be enjoyable. How my ST reacts is just far too frustrating for it to be fun. This is still just a game, after all. So that's why it's my line in the sand. Others will mark theirs elsewhere. They probably have more experience with the unit, and are better golfers, etc. That is the way it goes.
But for me, that's the kind of Society I personally will join, as long as it's honest. That last request there, apparently, is a doozy. LOL

I vote keep the 5%. The boost keeps the tournaments more fun for all, some have to play shorter clubs due to their space limitations, some dont hit the ball far enough or they would not play in the events. The 5 percenters(those that stick to 5) are not the ones anyone should worry about. There is alot more going on than just a minor boost. Some will improve scores by any means which does not necessarily show up in the data. Clearly there is a big difference in launch monitors which creates an uneven playing field anyway. I am just happy I can play golf in the winter.Comment

Please for the love of god understand that 5% boost actually makes yardage gaps bigger
it doesn't allow people to compete
5% of 100 is less than 5% of 150 is less than 5% of 180
boost is even more of an advantage for the already longer guys
