I did that once....... par, par, par, par.......quit and start the tournament...... with a 10 on a par 4. After that disaster of a first hole, I think I still shot a 76.

Random question, why is the tour run as a tournament, as in, why did I have to go tournament to find it rather than tour? I'm just trying to learn my way around TGC.

Also, when I finished my 5th round a few nights ago, I saw that it gave me a handicap, but when I got on tonight, it was gone and I had to resume that 5th round again and it took me to the 17th hole. Was this just a syncing issue or am I supposed to do something to make sure it is save before I quit the game? Is this a common common error?

    Thanks guys.
The tour is a series of tournaments. In TGC a tour is different. A tour in TGC is a tournament on multiple courses. It's better this way. If you did Q school you should have a handicap. Did you change you name or anything?

I looked it the Q school. You show only 3 rounds. Did you play 5? Once you complete these two you'll have 5.

With the introduction of the USGA handicap system, Q-school became obsolete. These rounds are no longer being used for tour handicap calculations.

The solution we just came up with is the TGC 2017 Q-School: http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...-2017-q-school
Playing one regular 2 round event and one 3 round major is enough to get your TGC Tour Handicap quickly.

You can also just play the tour and start at 0.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up... must be bubba's comment below and mthunt's comment above is the way it used to work, but no longer?

Q school option is a good way to get your handicap quickly and join the tour at that handicap. Otherwise you play as scratch.

Yeah this drove me nuts. The greens were so quick most of the time when I hit a good shot on the green it would just roll off and off and off often into a bunker. Seemed crazy to me. Otherwise as was mentioned before the course is pretty easy but I couldn't do anything with the short game.

Looking forward to the rest of the season!!

I think that the problem is that many of the pin placements are on a hill..... go by and you are sloping away. Very tough greens on this course.

I'm +3 after the first 9. Definitely agree on the greens being very unreceptive to iron shots. Wedge play is keeping this round afloat so far. I've had to use my putter only 3 times so far.

I had a very weird spin shot in round one that I rewound. I hit full swing SW nice and crisp from about 105 into hole 8 I believe. Spin showed like 3500 and SW flew 120 and kept going. I rewound hit same shot this time about 10k spin flew 105ish as normal same ball felt like same swing. Very strange... These greens are interesting to say the least. Short chips can reek havoc. In round 1 I had 179 into one green hit 7 iron rolled up to gimmie. Usually IRL 170 is max 7 just ripped. Some of the par 5s the green slopes away and nothing will stop. I'm all the rounds I've played there I struggle on hole 2 and I think it's 4 even after great drives the pitches are tough.

I don't think it's just that the pins are on hills, when a ball lands, it seems like it's landing and jumping forward and just rolling forever. Feels like anything above a 9 iron isn't holding. This isn't the case on the vast majority of other courses.

Agree. Some courses are like this and some aren't. IRL my 7i rarely rolls out more than a few feet but on this course it rolls all the way across the green. It was the same way at Pebble.

I've been lucky to play a couple US open course setups (Pebble last day open to public in 2000 and Oakland Hills just after the tournament in 96) and they were nowhere as hard to hold as these. Now the rough was a whole different story. No idea how the pro's hit out of that stuff, I pretty much had to wedge it sideways to get out.

Easy course and scored very bad....not one approach stayed on the green. Hopefully, can do better on 2nd round. Good luck everyone. Seems like the tour is getting more and more players or maybe this happens every year with winter coming. In KY I can usually still play until Dec, but only on weekends since dark so early. Maybe I will try to play nine holes during lunch

Agree with this, this the main mis read I seem to get and I wonder if it's something that happens with people with higher swing speeds or something. I say this because I feel I have a higher swing speed then average and I don't see this happen with my dad when he's over playing.

It's weird, it happens maybe once or twice on average for me each round and it's always on a shot that I felt like I just pured it perfectly, never happens on less than perfectly struck shots. The result is always a crazy long shot that ends up with very low spin and goes like 20+ yards further then I could ever hit that club and fades/slices. If anyone out there can hit a well struck pw that has a big fade and goes like 170+ yards I'd like to see it haha

It never used to happen until the last 3 months or so. Haven't hit the skytrak at all or changed anything in my set up, so not sure why its happening. And actually played on my dad's skytrak at his house and noticed the same thing happening randomly every once in a while on perfectly struck shots, this is what's really concerning me now. Was writing it off as something may have just been a little off with my skytrak for whatever reason, but not sure now.

I'm all for blaming myself if it's my own bad swings, but you can see it in a few of my videos that it happens on one shot, then I rewind and hit it exactly the same and it comes off as expected after.

Do check the spin when this happens and it's always below 4k no matter what club it happens with. Haven't played much the last month giving my back a break but it's something I'm gonna make a post on eventually with video backing it up, but have just been lazy in doing and testing it so far. Will compare it at the range hopefully too if I test it before it gets cold.

What I really want to try is going back to the previous firmware version of the skytrak and see if it still happens. Don't remember it ever happening until the last 3 or so months now. Overall it doesn't happen enough that it frustrates me too much and to go crazy trying to fix it, but enough that it's but annoying.

Not even sure if it's possible to go back and try old firmwares, but I'll try that first if I can and see what I get.

Do you have an ipad that maybe hasn't done the update? If so, you could use that to test? I learned early on to turn off auto update and wait to see what people's thoughts were on the update.

Something to try, I'll give that a shot later tonight. I think I'm up to date on stuff, but I'll check it out.

Not so much on the back 9. The layout of this course, where you have these glass-like greens and few holes have enough room to hit it short and have it run up onto the green. Ended up 39/44. But I did knock it to within a foot from 120y out on 16. That was fun.

Wow...... those greens can punish you. I was lucky with chipping in the first round and not so much in the second.

What this course give you with wide fairways..... the greens make up for it! It was nice not losing 5 or 6 balls into the water like on the Ice Cream Challenge.
