  • Stuck on what to do.

Other than rewiring the lights on my Protee, I'm stuck. On long clubs and if the swing is a certain way the camera picks up the light reflecting off of my golf club and shows almost a 90 degree turn. I have messed with the cameras as far as grey scale and that. I am just at a loss, the cameras are 9 feet in the air and I am not going up on a ladder to shut the putting light off every time. I have the lights on a track lighting system. I even put black sewer pipe over the putting light to have less dispersement and still the same the problem it isn't every single shot so the rewinds happen more frequent knowing I don't go 2 fairways left. Any thing you guys can think of? Click image for larger version

I am not really familiar with ProTee System. I once set up an exterior light on a remote control system. Perhaps you could get one of those Christmas tree light remote control things and shut the putting sensor off remotely and turn it on while putting, with the push of a button.

I have my lights on remote control. Something like this:

I haven't had your problem until yesterday when I had a friend over for a round. My driver is mostly black and I never get this issue with it. However his drive is gray, and this was happening often. Didn't think about turning off the putting light, that might have helped. I just gave him my driver to use and all was well. I would need to adjust the overhead horizontal camera to fix this, but surprised you were not able to adjust it out with yours.

You might want to put in a support ticket with ProTee. I expect they would be able to sort it out.

I’m setting mine up and getting the same thing mainly with my driver. 90* turn to the right. Guessing it’s picking up my club head instead of the ball.

Hope you figure yours out and post results.

I would use a control switch tied into my Google Home or Alexa so that you could simply say "Putting On" or Putting Off" and the light activates.....

PS....love the room Lefty, it really came out well.....

Thank you buddy it was all because of your room and pics and ideas, I stressed over the whole thing to get just perfect. This is the only issue except the sensors having dust on them on the putter sensor(it is VERY SENSITIVE)

Interested to know your thoughts on putting with the sensor vs. putting without it. If you get bored, could you spend some time putting without the sensor using just the hitting mat....and let me know your thoughts......I have always been satisfied with just the hitting mat, but I am always curious of how much better the putting sensor makes the experience.

          Hi Guy's
This sounds like basic camera set up and working around possible set up factors which can cause over illumination of the hitting area.
Both lights must be used, they are not just for the sensors but illuminate the area for the ball to travel through.
If you need help with this then feel free to get in touch and seek set up support.
There are many different camera modes that can be used to suit and you must ensure the cams are not set as automatic in camera devices.

Both lights must be used when putting......On regular shots, with the right bulb on over the sensor mat, you get plenty of light to pick up the ball traveling to generate a long streak with only one light.

Hey Lefty, I looked at your picture again and I may be wrong but it looks like you have a "spot" bulb in your 2nd light over the putting sensor.....have you tried a "flood" bulb. This may give you the light needed for the putting sensor yet not cause the reflection on your club head...also would try lower wattage....

I think the main reason a "spot" bulb is used is to minimize the light on your screen....you have to consider this as well.....

Spot lights are correct 50w 24/25 degree, you can get reflection of certain types of artificial surfaces which can cause this also, just send a support request or email jamie@proteeuk.co.uk and we can take a look for you

            From March 11, quote:

This is not a lighting problem. This has to do with the settings in the ProTee interface or camera sensitivity.

I would ask for ProTee support to help out.

Simple thing to do is request support, it will be camera settings and they need to be adjusted to suit lighting and to filter out any unwanted interference such as refection from clubs etc.
we do this everyday so if you need help just ask and we can advise you and get you working correctly.

Firstly your retailer should be able to offer first line support unless you purchased online.
if you wish to do yourself, you can use instruction on the ProTee support pages Google proteecsc, take all settings back to how they were, in camera device tab make sure all boxes are not ticked on auto, hit a shot, get the image, use sense slider first to remove as much as possible from the image that s not the ball and alter the gain setting in camera device first.
If you still find it hard to get rid of the club streak but can get the ball streak to always be further to the right side of the image than the club you can press alt e to take you to interface settings and change camera mode to PT1 and this often does the trick

Not sure if it’s the same issue but I was having problems with my driver and 3 wood confusing the system into thinking they were the ball. The head on both clubs is white so the cameras believed they were the ball and not the club head. I tried several different settings but found I was fixing one problem and creating another. I finally just took some black hockey tape and taped the top of my driver and 3 wood and this solved the problem. The other day I decided to remove the tape to see if the problem would return and it did. I taped them up again and my system works great. I’m not sure how much I’ll use my simulatornthrough the summer or if I mind golfing outside with tape on my clubs. I’ll wait and see. This may be a fix for you.

This is purely camera set up, both cams are better in PT1 cam mode if they are white.

I have the Ping G driver and it is totally black!

I used the black hockey tape for my silver 3 wood and that made a significant change. Its too bad protee does not use an algorithm to not look at curved lines. Also, can someone explain the investigation camera algorithm PT3 when its investigating at 45 degrees. I would think that starting the investigation from bottom right (PT1) would be best so that it finds the ball streak before the club streak. However, for irons and woods I would think the ball streak would be closer to a horizontal streak (I assume this means <45 degrees) then a vertical streak (Pt1).
