Hello,
I'm having a bit of trouble with the distances in TGC. I'll hit my 6 iron in the 175-180ish range on a normal day. I'm having quite a bit of trouble hitting it (and the rest of my lower irons) the distances I hit them outside. I'm wondering if the spin calculation is an issue, it seems quite high (see attached).
I high a high ball, as you can see from the launch angle, but I don't hit a particularly high spin shot - my shots will hold most greens but outside of spin milled wedges out of the fairway, I'm not spinning the ball back, even on soft greens. It just sits within a couple feet in any direction of where it lands.
If I run the numbers through optimal flight, it will typically give me a rather short distance, but if I put the spin at a more normal/expected rate - for example 5500 on the 6 iron, the results match reality quite nicely. The cam spin, however that's calculated, actually seems pretty close in most instances to what I would expect. Any suggestions?
Also, any thoughts on the high smash factor? Seems odd to have 1.48 on a 6 iron. I have Bridgestone j36s's, so they aren't some high tech rocket-faced iron.
Thanks.
