  • So about that next version..?

Can we please get an update on the update? As someone who has paid $2k for hardware and hundreds per year in subscription fees, I find a release per 6 months pretty unsatisfactory (especially when a large ball speed bug is hanging out there).

"It should be out in the coming weeks." Is not really an answer... SkyTrak_Seth what is the latest?

It is rather sad that the upgrade will be after the indoor season.

I kind of agree with this statement. It feels to me like this product has become more about statements of future features, than actually supplying enhancements and fixes to know bugs.

You know why they just say "soon"?

If they would have said 4/1, then you would be all over this forum, tagging them, hounding them, saying.... "You said 4/1!!! It's now 4/2 and nothing! Where is it?! I DEMAND AN ANSWER!"

They are working on it... Do you think they are just holding this from us because they like seeing comments like this? This kind of stuff happens in the real world. They aren't going to release something that isn't ready. They aren't going to hold on to something just to piss people off. There can be setbacks, ya know? They aren't a perfect company. They have released tons of updates through the years.

Be patient. So many ornery comments these last few weeks.

They said Q1. It's well beyond that. I don't get why it's unfair to have high expectations for a company you've given thousands to...

Is there any other software supplier who has had more releases than ST in the last 4 years?

Definitely no one has added more features or tried to improve the product and take risks as much as SkyTrak. I really appreciate the bag mapping, wedge matrix, attempt at club head data. They aren't afraid to try things and I really appreciate that. Makes me feel like the annual subscription is worth something.

I would agree they added features if we did not pay a yearly fee...graphics are still subpar. When I asked about this the response was we are bound by the power of the apple devices....well how about write two versions....one that can take advantage of a powerful PC and than IOS devices. I love the skytrak but we should always push for more.

The release was due out in Q1 and now we're half way through Q2. Still waiting...

By the way - as a new user - (Mac here - so ios basically) - how does one go about updating the software /firmware? Or is it just a simple app update?

The app will notify you if there is a new version available and will lead you to the website to download and install it if you choose.

My guess is that the next release involves a firmware update (high ball speed fix). Updates involving firmware must be much much more extensively tested, as problems can brick the hardware.

Since we do pay for continued support, I think it is fair to hold ST accountable. I do think it would be fair to open up the SDK and allow for user created content. Perhaps not full sims, but challenges, interactive driving ranges etc.

Good point. We aren't just complaining about software we paid once for. We are paying $100 a year.

I just wish they would put a factor on ball speeds over 150 mph (or whatever the threshold is) to increase the distance until they can accurately measure ball speeds above that.

If you don't like it get a GC2, a much superior product!

I don't get this sort of thinking... I actually love my SkyTrak but a company can't be great for short bursts when they have yearly sub users. We should all be demanding answers when releases take a half year to drop! We should expect better and I'm guessing ST wants to be better.

You can't set a boost in skytrak but you can in tgc. You can set it for just driver. Just change setting from 0 to 5.

If you want to set "boost" in SkyTrak itself the only way is to amp up the elevation and temperature. In TGC you can do it by boosting by club type in the notepad thing.

For $10k more than SkyTrak, GC2 had better add 20 yards to your actual drive!

Did I mention that GC2 flash wears out. But then again, so does laser curtain. The latter may just be a bad batch, not sure.

Probably not 20 but 12.5 yards sure.

                  My reconditioned ST $1300.
                  Used GC2 $3500.
                  Difference $2,200.
                  22 years shrink to nothing.
                  - Assuming no $400 GC2 transfer fee.
                  - Assuming not satisfied with ST range which is free and apples to apples matches to GC2 base.

Waiting for Skytrak to finally read, 30 secs between shots, 10 per game, my time is worth $100 hour (not really) $8.33 per game, according to my math x 6-12 games per week.........I'm sick of doing this math lol. BTW pretty sure GC2 will hold its value for a long time yet
