HKS I applaud your persistence to use data to speak the truth and cast some light for the many blinded believers. Bravo and well done. This just further confirms SkyTrak has much to improve. Not sure if they are ready to take up the challenge when their "promised" version 1.7 is not even released yet for the lefties to weigh in on accuracy. Is this a real start-up of "Sucked" company.Originally posted by hks8888 View PostI am getting more serious and more concerned about the accuracy.
I went out to a range again and hit balls to 63 yard target. The discrepancy is more obvious.
The example is here. The actual ball carry was about 62 yards. Skytrak says '75' and Flightscope Optimizer says '64.3'.
17 shots I recorded showed the discrepancy which is way beyond the acceptable level.

I bet there will be more future post from others disputing this claim.......Last edited by Boggie Golfer; 12-17-2014, 12:38 AM.

They have already said they know there is a problem with the algorithm on shot distances. They are making adjustments and supposed to be updating the app. For the time being I am just using the data and entering it into the optimizer for correct distances. And on a side note it might be time to replace the wedge. Very low spin on those shots.Last edited by keithpbz; 12-17-2014, 12:40 AM.

The update for 1.8 version says "Improvements to the flight model and club head speed for high spin shots". I am not sure if they are aware of the discrepancy in other kinds and willing to fix it quickly.Originally posted by keithpbz View PostThey have already said they know there is a problem with the algorithm on shot distances. That's not what Frank says on page 57. He uses the Wishon and Optimal Flight for irons and driver. He says the Flightscope program is geared towards the driver. That's my understanding. I personally use Optiml flight.Originally posted by hks8888 View PostOn page 57, Frank Hann said Flightscope Tracjectory Optimizer is good for irons and drivers. He initially raised a question about it, but he corrected himself. (Apparently, he is an expert in this subject. )
The bottom line is tha the hardware seems to measure decent data but the algorithms may be off.

On the same page he corrected his remark...Originally posted by fhann View PostI must apologize about the remark I made about the Flightscope software. On my Flightscope launch monitor software, the software is designed for dirvers only. The Flightscope ball flight optimizing software on their website is good for irons and woods.
In any case, it's good to use both and compare results to get an idea of the range of "right answers". The Optimal Flight is free to try and pretty cheap to buy for an individual.

I checked the Optimal Flight's website and I got an impression that their software is a backbone for other launch monitors' flight model. Please correct me if I read it wrong.
Anyway, I failed to run Optimal Flight on my laptop. Not user friendly. Anybody else used it successfully?

Hey, I installed Optimal Flight. Then opened it and it runs in Excel. I made sure I had macros enabled. If you are running a newer Office the macro settings are under the round Microsoft icon < Excel Options < Trust Center < Trust Center Settings < Macro Settings
However, I registered by typing my name and email. I received an email and have the code. It tries and goes through the registration. Says it was registered on this computer. But then it says no internet connection and must be manually registered. It keeps going through this loop of registering. Also it won't let me do it manually with using the Activate button at the bottom.
Anybody have a work around for getting this to work correctly?
Much appreciated!

Just email Todd Kos (creator of Optimal Flight), he is a good guy and will get you going with it. I have had a few email conversations with him. He may even be testing the skytrack as his software already integrates with Trackman, Flightscope, GC2 Vector Pro etc.. If he isn't testing it somebody should send him one to borrow so he can solve all the mystery questions regarding its "algorithms". He is the man when it comes to understanding ball flight.Central Time

Hey, I saw this posted on the other forum. Looks like the Skytrak metal protection shield. 7800 Yen equals $66. Hopefully they will be available in the U.S. soon.
http://www.sky-trak.com/products/SKYTRAK-PROTECT
Also notice on the shield it says XSwingSky. Are they going to integrate the simulation software with the XSwing simulator software? Can anybody comment on this?
Here is a quote I found online from someone that experienced Skytrak with the simulation software back in March. Not sure if this is the simulator software integration we are waiting for or not? Funny though how it says XSwingSky on the shield....hmmmm
"I tried this unit at the China PGA Show back in March. The company also made some simulator called Xswing Golf (http://xswinggolf.com/skytrak.html). The device itself showed great potential, but the software was extremely buggy. I couldn't realistically tell the difference between this device and the ES14. If I remember correctly, they were thinking about a $3K price point as they were firm believers that they had a fantastic product that could directly compete with Trackman, et al.
If they solved the software issues - and that's a big if - this could be a suitable replacement for a GC2. More so at the $1.5K intro price. However, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get your hands on this device at a sub-$1K price point on the 2nd hand market after the winter. "

I understand why. But, I still think skytrak has potentials. Even if it shows a discrepancy in distances it seems to catch the launching data correctly in a consistant manner. So, i guess it is a software issue, not a hardware.Originally posted by Boggie Golfer View PostI know of 3 units for sale. Sellers are members of this forum......if you are interested let me know. I am not seller for them but they would like to keep their identity private.....i think they are frustrated with the support to date.

I want to share more data on shots for the 63 yard target. I compare them against FTO. I wanted to include 'Optimal Flight' model, but I failed to run it on my computer. I'd appreciate it if somebody can run the data on it. As you can see, Skytrak is way off. It needs a fix.
