  • Zmax,
Have you tested the skytrak on pc? If so, any idea what the pc requirements might be? Similar to p3pro by any chance or should you use the E6 requirements as a baseline?

    • the GC2 uses a flash module which needs to be replaced when worn. How does Skytrak accomplish this and is it something which needs to be replaced?

Yes, but that was just a basic test app to check functionality. Don't much CPU for that. For simulation, I would suggest you go with e6 requirements or whatever sim they are going to use and double it. See ProTee and TGC computer sections here.

        • Zmax how are you connecting to the basic PC software. Is it over Wifi or USB ? Just want to know for future reference.

            • Okay so had some time to mess around with my Skytrak today and I am very happy with it so far !

              * Tried some flop shots with a 60Âş wedge and it work really well with several registering about 50Âş launch angle

              * Tested it with foam balls and an 8 iron and the results where pretty similar to a real ball, maybe more side spin ; ). Not sure how well they would work with a driver, etc

              * Tested with a putter but got no love ; (

              * Did find that 9iron and below came up a little short 10% or so. Looking forward to the update to fix that

              * Tested it against Optishot and as much as I would like my 6 iron to go 245 yards Skytrak was far more accurate at 160ish yards.

              * Now just need the sim to go with it and I am happy as a pig in...

One question I have is about charging while using the Skytrak. The manual says it does not charge while its on.

              • i'd rather be able to leave the unit plugged into AC power in the garage

                • Does it use an adapter for charging only or would you be able to plug it into something like a laptop to charge as well?

you can use any usb charger. i've used a charger that i used for my lenovo tablet. the ipad charger will probably work too. if it doesn't like the charger it will flash it's lights at you.

Thanks. Does the included charger have an amp rating on it? Wonder if higher rated chargers like the 2A ones for tables and the like would charge it any faster.

Yes. This trick worked. I placed the ball up to 1.5 inch forward and I was able to get 52 degrees registered.

                        • I just got my unit and I'm frustrated. First the manual says to charge it with the charger in the box and I can't find it anywhere.
Second, I can't figure out how to connect it via Wifi to the network. I can do it direct but unable to connect it via the wifi. Does anyone have any tips?

Use any lightning cord you use to charge iPad or iphone

                            Turn on skytrak
Go to wifi on iPad and look for skytrak
                            Click on it
                            Open app
Sign in or sign in as guest
                            Click connect

Hit the heck out of ball for 6 hours

                        • Got my unit today and did a preliminary test...

Accuracy is great down to pitching wedge for me, with proper/expected shot shape and distances. I didn't try many clubs yet, just a quick 30 minute test with 5 iron, 9 iron and PW.

Using home wifi network mode over airplay (to PC/projector) doesn't work too great, but it does work. It stutters quite a bit during shot display. Not sure why since it doesn't seem like a big stream or anything (i.e. compared to HD movie) but none-the-less, it seems to bog things down. Without airplay it is smooth always. This is with Air 2. Shot display delay is about 5 seconds in either mode.

Had 3 non-registers out of about 50 shots. 1 while topping it on purpose, 1 decent hit and 1 big toe mishit. I was using the E6 balls that came with the order. Foam balls (almost golf balls) had about a 20% decrease in distance when I tested a few.

So far I am pleased. Not sure if I will get a hardwire lightning->hdmi adapter or just accept the stuttering as is right now. Really curious as to why it stutters using airplay, but it may be something wifi/network related so I'll try some things first.

Also curious why some report 1-2 second shot to show time while most have 4-5 second delay like me, even with Air 2. Would be nice to get that figured out and reduce the delay!

Will play with it more and report again after the weekend.

Doesn't come with AC adapter. You need to plug in the usb cable to computer or an AC->USB plug i.e. the one that comes with iPad. Strange I know, these are very cheap to supply, but perhaps related to planned international distribution.

Connecting via home wifi was pretty easy. I just hit the device/connect button, changed iPad to SkyTrak network, and chose the home wifi mode, entered the network name, encryption mode and password, changed iPad back to home network when prompted. It seemed to fail to connect at first (asking to connect back to SkyTrak network), but after power cycling skytrak it all connected ok on the home network.

                            • Thanks flydigital. I've tried that many times. I didn't do anything different and on the 5th try it worked. One thing I wasn't sure if it's capable of connecting to an a/n/ac (5GHz ).
                              Seems to work on a b/g/n 2.4GHz.
One thing is that I'm not use to apple devices. After I entered my wifi password I had to hit "done". I'm use to windows/android where I have to hit an actual submit button.

I hit a handful of balls and it seems pretty accurate. I like how it's so easy to setup after you connect to it. The laser dot is the best thing since sliced bread.
However it doesn't seem anymore or less accurate than my Vector Pro 2.

                              - I like the single player view and only see one shot on the screen which is all part of the settings menu. However, it doesn't save it when I exit my session. I don't want to have to do it every time.
                              - I went into the stats and it says I've been hitting balls for 80 hrs. Not sure why.
                              - The 4s wait between shots isn't a problem at all for me.
                              - there should be a beep option signifying when it's ready

I'll spend a little more time this weekend. So far I'm on the fence. I feel that the software is not polished. It has a nice apple few to it which is nice. The flightscope and vectorPro software had a lot more options and extras like optimizers. Perhaps these will be available in time and there is a chance it will be an upgrade at a charge.
