  • I have used my Skytrak for about 12 hours since getting it over the Holidays. I am very happy with it so far and feel there is a ton more potential from the software aspect. I have never hit on a decent launch monitor, so I don't have much to compare to as far as spin rates, but the yardages I am getting seem very consistent and accurate.
However, today I went to use it and it went dead, which is odd since I charge after ever use. When I went to plug it in, the orange LED light won't come on. I plugged/unplugged a few times and got it to flash two or three times, so I suspect the problem is on the terminal end in the unit itself. I got the number to call on Monday for support. A little nervous that it broke so soon despite costing $2000. Hopefully customer service is good to deal with. I'll give them a chance before I judge, but I think the 6 month warranty for their defects is a little weak. I think you can buy a longer warranty, but it's a little discouraging to pay for a warranty that only covers their mistakes.
Yes, I have tried two other charging cords.
No, a golf ball has yet to touch the unit. ie. Hozel Rocket

Apparently the PC version/integration is available. Dont know if this has been stated earlier (im only up to page 22 of 78), so hope im not repeating someone else.

I have been speaking to a rep at Sky-Trak.com NOT skytrakgolf.com about purchasing a unit from them. They have advised me that their units (which have been out for about a year now from my understanding) are compatible with Windows PC and have SIM capabilities. They sell two different version, Mobile and PC, with three different applications available "Basic" shot stats only, "Pro" 3d shot sim like the app in the appstore, and "Game" not information provided by the rep. I have asked for more details on each and will let you know as soon as i have this.

Anyway, have a look at the Sky-Trak.com website (use google translate if required), go into about sky-trak > Product Introduction, then scroll half way down the page until you see the "PC version Windows Image". That looks like the Accusport VRange software right? Any thoughts?

ALSO, if you go to the Purchase menue, then click Purchase, you can clearly see they sell a Mobile version and a PC version.

Again, sorry if this has been mentioned before.

Michael, that is the Japanese site. I am pretty sure it's no compatable with the US Skytrak.

        Hi Bubba,

Yes, that is correct, the rep stated that if you buy the Japanese unit, you wont be able to use the US software, although they did actually say the hardware was no different. I just wanted to put it out there as the Japanese 3D software looks exactly the same as the US app, and that they have a unit which apparently has no hardware difference from the US one, and can run on Windows PC.

        Thanks

        • Has anyone had any problems registering your skytrak? Mine will hookup the wifi to use the unit but will not connect to the home wifi.
I have reset it several times.

          Thanks

Larry, if I'm reading your question correctly it sounds like you are having trouble connecting to the home wifi. I had similar issues, and it was related to my router's IP address. If your router uses 10.0.0.1 as it's IP address, the home wifi on the SkyTrak doesn't work. When I changed my router to something other than 10.0.0.1, it worked fine. (I also verified this phenomenon on another router.) I don't know if this is your problem, but thought I would mention it. There is some more info about my problem in the issues forum.

            • Any chance someone can post a video hitting their driver while using skytrak?

              • Rob thanks for the input, that worked.
As far as you can tell how accurate is the yardage for your driver on skytrak? Mine seems to be about 20 yards short.

Not sure If this is related or relevant, but I live outsider of the US and can no longer donload any apps that are not aprooved for my region. I could download the early versions of the Skytrack app, but not anymore. That would mean that If you have a Japanese account at Apple then you can't download the Skytrak app. That is amazingly stupid because if I would to buy a unit in the US I could not use the software.

Brilliant, simply brilliant. DRM at its highest best use.

Glad that did the trick for you.

                      Regarding the driver:
My iron ball speeds seem correct, but both my driver and 3 wood ball speeds are reading lower than I have seen on Trackman and aboutGolf's 3Trak system. I sprayed the faces with Dr. Scholl's foot spray and even on dead center hits, I show lower speeds than I expect (leading to shorter distances of course). As an example, my driver ball speed is usually around 158-165, depending on how well I strike it. On the SkyTrak I have been seeing about 152-157. I did see one 166 and one 163, but I had to absolutely swing out of my shoes to get there.

Similar stuff with my 3 wood. I'm usually around 152-156 ball speed, but I have to swing crazy hard to even see 150-152 on the SkyTrak.

I stopped by the local big-box store out of curiosity today (with the 3Trak system) and I hit several 3 wood shots with a ball that looked new. After getting warmed up, I was easily seeing 153-154 ball speeds on well struck shots without swinging out of my shoes. I think sometimes the big box guys jack up the altitude, wind speed, etc. to sell distance, but I think the ball speeds are always pretty accurate in my experience (based on the few times I have been on a Trackman).

Not sure what's up with the driver and 3-wood on SkyTrak. I would assume it is pretty accurate on ball speed since it is a camera. I won't know for sure until I compare it with actual shots on the range, or take it over the the local GC2 monitor for comparison. In the meantime I assume it is me and not the launch monitor, but I am scratching my head a bit on this one.

                      Anyone else seeing anything similar?

                      • I'm planning on getting to a club making/learning center here in MN called Totally Driven for a K-Vest session. I've spend a lot of money with them over the years on many sets of clubs and woods so I'm planning on taking my SkyTrak with me. They have all the goodies for launch monitors(FS, TM, and GC2) so I'm planning on playing around a bit to see how the SkyTrak compares to the others. I'll see if I can snap a few photos or videos and post my results here. Anyone thinking there will be some advancements with the SkyTrak by the time the PGA starts? I'm hoping so.

                            • Spoke to a skytrak dealer this morning and asked about v 1.8. The dealer called his skytrak rep and was told it is being released this week. It will be interesting to hear the reviews on this.

Yes. I feel like general launch angle and draws/fades/hooks/slices are all picked up appropriately. But I should qualify that statement by saying it is definitely within my tolerance for what I feel in my swing versus what I see on the iPad. If I hit it high on the face, it launches high with less spin, etc. If I feel like I hooked it off the map, then my shot lands 45 yds left on the iPad a few seconds later.

I don't know for sure. I think the error is mostly mine with ST because we agree so often and it doesn't seem wildly wrong when I disagree with it. With Opti, I was pretty sure it was mostly the Opti because I disagreed often and many times the readings seemed virtually impossible.
