    • Hi everyone, I need to pop in and give an update on v1.8.5 since it has taken a ridiculously long time to be approved by Apple. With full transparency, the app sat for over a week, then came back rejected - we were finally able to trace it back to an issue with Unity...not our software. It was resubmitted to Apple last week and has been sitting ever since. None of us can understand what is taking so long unless Apple is just behind. Trust me, I want this out more than anybody.

To address a few more posts:

      - I know the shield/riser went back to design to have a level integrated. That design has been approved so I'll just need to check on when they are supposed to be ready, as I'm not really involved there.
      - Sim options will be for iPad and for PC. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that sim on iPad will be via streaming - simply due to local storage and graphics limitations.
      - I hear you on the syncing stuff. That's our main focus with v1.8.6. We will be addressing all sync and local database display issues. This should be about a 1 month project. There's a lot going on behind the scenes.

Finally, I'm always hesitant to post dates on here. With a lot of moving parts to this thing, there's always something that can go wrong and then something gets delayed. I love to be able to give you guys the 'inside scoop' on stuff when I can, but please understand that dates may be subject to change. Business-wise, the intelligent thing to do is remain silent until something is released. However, you guys have always provided excellent feedback, so when you make requests on when new features will be out, I think it's fair that I do my best to try and accommodate. On the same note, I just don't have the bandwidth to always monitor this forum. So if I 'go dark', it's not because I don't care about you or because I'm hiding something - it's because I'm working my ass off to make this product better.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you guys are an invaluable tool to the success of this product. Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions.

      -Seth

      • Thanks for the update. One question...is there a chance that the delay between shot taken and results shown ever becoming less? I'm so close to pulling the trigger on buying the SkyTrak but the delay factor is making me hesitate. I've seen YouTube videos where the delay seems to be more than 5 seconds. Thanks.

        • It really depends on the device. iPad Air 2 is around 4 seconds. Air around 5 seconds. PC will be more like 2 seconds-instantaneous. .

That implies Skytak integration with WGT and/or E6 will be both PC based and iPad based. I hadn't realized that...was also concerned about the lag that's evident on some videos. Time to spec a PC, I suppose....

            • From my discussions with TruGolf, it sounds like they are aiming to be compatible with different devices.

              • Unity issue... does that mean the next version will be 3d?? I know i'm a bit late to the party, but isn't the current version 2d?
Is the PC version of the app going to be released before the simulator integration? That's one of the main reasons I'm waiting to purchase the skytrak... no ipad air here.

                • Was also torn about a new iPad as well, counting on the original iPad Air to be good enough until the Sim was figured out and announced. I'm actually pleased with pulling the trigger (arrives tomorrow) on my Skytrak. Why let the early part of the season get away....?

I think the PC integration is really critical. When looking at the WGT forums, the iPad is seen as a diminished experience by most and I think that will prove itself in the Sim space with ST as well. Just a horsepower issue when you get right down to it.

The upside for all of us is how the whole launch monitor / Sim space is evolving...all good in my view, so it made sense for me to jump in now, rather than wait for it to be clearer.

Ultimately, it's the ST platform strategy that we're buying into, and that needs to evolve rapidly and add value prop constantly. And I think that's what be learned from the folks on this forum, it's a pretty sane bet that things are advancing for the better...and at a lower cost than even a year or two ago.

I felt the same way but I now feel a slight delay is helpful is some ways

Trust me I'd like it to be instantaneous but having a delay lets you feel what the shot might have done and 99 times out of 100 ( at least for me ) it's spot on. Just my 2¢

                    • To me, the delay is absolutely not an issue. I use my wife's Air and not sure exactly what the delay is in time but I hit my shot and by the time I grab the ball to place back on the laser my shot appears on my screen. It's never been an issue as far as I'm concerned. The combination of my SkyTrak/Hitting bay and continued golf lessons over the last 2 months has allowed me to play some of the best golf even as early in the season at it is. Best golf investment I have ever made.

                      Bring on the Sim!!!!!

                      • I agree with DougieMn - The delay is not that bad (I am running on a iPad Air 2). It would be great if you could Fast forward the speed of the ball flight - or even just show you the path/result once its calculated.

The video posted over in the ST e6 forum (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v59qihnLoDE) from driverdivot shows it being quite fast on the PC.

                        • My delay on my IPAD air 2 is nothing......we hit on Trackman at lessons and the ST ball calculations and flight time on screen are about the same. I have no issues at all with the time it takes to calculate and display shot data and flight etc......I was worried about this, but in my opinion ST is plenty fast.

I switched back to network connected, restarted the app, restarted the iPad, still all i get is "waiting to sync." I believe my next course of action should be to uninstall and reinstall the app. I'll try that and report my findings. Direct mode DOES help with logging swings. However, appears to kill syncing, even when turned off.
That is consistent with my own experience. I did one network connected shot from home off a deck to test the placement of wedges, and found that placing the ball forward of the laser dot allowed recording of a high lofted wedge shot. All my other 1000+ shots have been at the driving range at night using direct connect. The only shot that has ever synced is the single network connected shot. So, we now have a pattern: Direct mode kills syncing!
Is anyone using Direct Mode seeing their data synced, or is syncing only available to those using Network Mode?

Seth, has the app update been rejected? Two weeks and still waiting?

You must be using only Network Mode to record your shots. Can you confirm that you have never used Direct Mode, which we (Tekbud and I) believe kills all syncing?

I have tried to connect via the internet multiple times lately and all have ended with frustration and throwing up my arms and simply doing the direct connect and hitting away. Misery loves company so you are not alone in this boat.

SkyTrak is a great little device and I absolutely love it but there is some serious anguish that goes along with any new product and this is no exception. Had a lesson with my coach yesterday and he commented on how nice my swing has come along in the off season and I attribute that to my hitting bay with SkyTrak.

March has come and went now with no inkling of Sim as well. Add that to the list of frustrations!

Patience is sometimes hard to have when we have a new toy but I'm trying to practice some with this little device and know that you are not alone in your frustration.
Thanks for the information, DougieMn! I believe we now have a common pattern from three users. Using Direct Mode kills all syncing. Using Network Mode exclusively preserves syncing. Can anyone else chime in with an exception to this hypothesis to explain why a very few who use only Network Mode are able to sync, while the rest cannot, once they have used Direct Mode?
