  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

  • Would be really interested to see a proper video guide to how one would go about building their own local club. I guess starting from google map views and then including walking the course to get altitude levels etc from a capable phone or laser range finder, in order to make it as accurate as possible for people without specialist equipment. A nice comprehensive tutorial would be fantastic. There are a few YouTube videos, but none as comprehensive as what there could be.

  • Someone find a transparency software program that looks like it bakes it way easier (I.e. You overlay google maps and trace the basic layout). Hb studios forum.

I was thinking the exact same thing TaS. That would make it soooo much easier. If you could just upload a jpg with a map over the top in the editor you could then scale it and trace out the details. You could also hand draw your course first on paper, scan it and use that to trace it out too.
The best I have come up with is to take a snapshot of google maps, put a grid over the top in Photoshop and then make a scaled grid with the distance tool in TGC. But you still have to flick back and forth.

  • The video's listed above will get you on the way. But when you want to get a little more into it look on the HB site. There used to be many video's there. I see the one dude took all his video's down off you tube. I liked those the best of any. But there are many others that will get you what you want to know and then some. Craig118 is our local expert he has helped me several times.

    • [QUOTE=Mike80;n41350]First of all I just want to say I love my Skytrak. It works great and is extremely accurate! I was one of those who preordered it last year in October. The WGT challenges are a lot of fun but truly looking forward to the release of TGC!!!

I've priced out the computer I am going to build with all the high end components to run TGC. All the parts from Newegg and getting the Nvidia GTX970 graphics card from Ebay /QUOTE]

Mike, I am also considering building my own gaming computer and started looking at Newegg components. I would be interested in seeing what you have decided component wise. If you would prefer to pm me please do. Thanks in advance.

      • Here's the list of components I plan on building a bad ass gaming PC. See attached.

Am I the only one that can't see your list???

      • Thanks Mike--this looks great. How much more expensive is the i7 and is it worth it? Also, are you using a monitor or are you just going direct to your projector?

You can get an i7 Quad-Core for $80 bucks more. But to go to an i7 6-Core will be $200-$500 more. The one I listed is great for that price.

Yeah, I still have a monitor hooked up that is mirrored to my projector.

I wish someone would answer my question and give me the green light to order the parts. I don't want to build the PC if TGC isn't released for several months. In the computer world there will be better parts to use in the future..haha!

        • Days are getting shorter. And cooler. I'm starting to worry I'm not going to have software by the time my golf season ends up here in Michigan.

          • Blah blah blah blah blah blah. Just release the damn software already.

            • A Scottish course is unlikely to have a great cart path running through it..

There could be dinosaurs strewn throughout the course for all I care if they would just release the software already.

            • I'm ready to build out my pc as well. Just waiting (im)patiently

I think we'd rather NOT wait and play them already

              • It's futile, they will have us waiting forever. and ever. and then probably price it way too high. /woke up on wrong side of the bed

If the price of the protective cover is any indication ...

              • Forgive me as I know there was some earlier conversation in this post concerning this matter but I am trying to determine if my current pc specs will be able to play Skytrak and The Golf Club on a high or its highest setting or if I need to upgrade anything. Here are the specs of my current pc:

AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight Core Processor 4.0 ghz
                Installed RAM 20gb
64 bit operating system, x64 based processor

                Graphics Cards

Card 1- AMD Radeon HD 6670
Card 2- AMD Radeon HD 6670

If anyone has any input please let me know when you can. Thanks again for your time and help!
