Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

In this thread ( http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...thout-internet ) SFR confirmed that you can play the course locally in test mode prior to publishing. However he hasn't yet confirmed that multiplayer is possible in that mode. I haven't seen the local multiplayer aspect confirmed anywhere else.
Also, that was for TGC sim generally. I'm not aware of anyone confirming if the Skytrak version will work at all in offline mode. Skytrak copy protection may prevent some or all aspects of local mode. Seth might be able to answer but otherwise likely no-one can answer for Skytrak/TGC combination until they release it.

Your right, nobody confirmed the skytak tgc combination working offline yet. I talked to protee a while ago and they confirmed that there are 100+ courses available for offline play. Again from just protee. I kinda got in a positive mood about this when I saw that people can play the e6 demo offline. When skytrak pc beta came out Seth mentioned that the licence will be written on the hardware (unit) so I'm hoping skytrak and tgc will work offline too. Cause if not I might have to change my plans again and that would suck. Got my mind set on tgc already !

I understood from that same thread that when playing those offline courses they are selected randomly by the system (ie you cannot just pick the one you like). If indeed true, this may impact your thinking also. It is at least something to be aware of.

Yes they are 100+ courses and you can't choose which ones. But there should be playable once and 80% of the time I will be able to play online. Plus I will be able to create some courses that fit distance wise for my skill level and leave them on my sim laptop so I can always fall back on them. Well like I said that's my plan just have to make sure it works like that hahaha

Ok, sounds like you are on top of it. My use is probably the opposite, 80% offline and 20% online. So I'm interested in the answers to your questions also.

I did try to go off line and see then if you could pull up your own courses you created and I could not. It said you needed an internet connection to get to the courses you published.
If you were to make a copy of that course file before you publish and then once published you could place the course file back in your folder for the courses you are working on, you could then at least play it as you would have when testing and building it. I do not think there is any way to play in that mode with more than one person.Mountain Time

I actually use a GC2 but the TGC software is the same idea so what works for you guys will most likely work for other users. The play option in the course designer is only one person.
The thing is that those courses to play offline have to be stored somewhere so it would be nice to store some that we want as users or possibly they could just default to the ones protee are picking as playable sim courses in that data base they are making up.
I have not played a full round on any of the off line courses. Mainly the reason is I like to play the ones that are designed for sim play where greens are more playable with slope and not as long of a course. Some may be just fine but you need to play and test them all. Without a skip hole option it's hard to skim over the courses and see them quickly.Mountain Time

Thanks a lot for your replies, I really wanna make tgc work for me. maybe @Protee will pick up on this offline course request. I think it is a good idea to at least throw a bunch of protee sim courses in there. It might be harder for them to realize the , everybody picks his own offline courses, thing but they should be able to throw a bunch of sim friendly courses in there which are called protee ............ so we know what we can play.
-
Yes, thanks for the replies SFR.
I'm thinking when someone plays an online course presumably it is cached on the local hard drive somewhere and played from there. If true it doesn't seem that big a leap to keep them available when offline. They only need to be updated when they change anyway...I surely hope TGC isn't re-downloading the same course each time you play it!

Does anyone know if the simulator version of TGC will be more resource intensive than the standard gaming version available on Steam? I'm thinking of testing my current PC using the Steam version, but curious if that's comparable. I'd think it would be since the graphics should be similar or the same, right? FYI - my current PC is an Alienware Alpha (the i5 version).
Thanks!
