  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

  • Software project development is never easy--especially when you are waiting for outside vendors for things like SDKs and APIs.

I just feel bad for the guys who already bought hardware to build a PC in anticipation of the release. Some guys on here picked up their stuff six months ago. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, if you're making a specific build for this game, I would hold out until we get a firm release date--check that, until it starts shipping. Let's not forget that Skytrak gave a date when info on the protective stand would be available--we then went weeks without hearing from them. They then opened up for pre-orders with a promised ship date in October. They ran everyone's credit cards immediately, then sent an e-mail that it would be delayed at least another month.

Thus, I'd hold out until a PC app is actually available before you start buying boards, CPUs, etc. As you know, things get faster and cheaper pretty quick (especially with things like SSDs). Pricing is almost near the point where using a single SSD (instead of a drive for the OS and then a data drive) is feasible. The tech industry showcases new products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) right after Jan 1, with stuff usually shipping in the month after that.

On the bright side, speaking of consumer shows...

The delays will likely put us near the PGA merchandise show in January. It will be interesting to see what the new year brings, as competition is always good. Skytrak is a disruptive technology in the features that it offers at the price point. It will be interesting to see if there any new entries from the field, or if Foresight (GC2) or the radar companies lower prices in response.

    • Ernest Sports ES16 camera + doppler technology launch monitor apparently will soft launch today w full launch at PGA merchandise show in Jan and already linked to TGC for sim. Apparently $2,500 including range app w TGC being extra.

      • Doublebogey, thanks much for sharing that. I will bookmark and follow. I don't see anything up yet. Sort of odd that they would soft launch on a Sunday, but stranger things have happened.

Both of these units are going to pull a lot from GC2. Hopefully Foresight gets more efficient with manufacturing and manages to get it into the mid $4K range within a year or two. That would be my number to jump.

Competition is good for everyone. It will be very interesting to see how things shake out. Skytrak does have the advantage of being a year more mature. Still, nearly a year in, a lot of us feel like we have been beta testers.

At the end of the day, the more crowded the field gets, the better things will be for the consumer.

      • Just 20 minutes outside of Fairbanks, Alaska lies a one of a kind golf course in the heart of Gold Rush country. The Denali Club is a Par 72, 6998 Yard Championship golf course boasting some stunning views, and a stern test of golf.

Not sure why your laughing your ass off? Just wondering if it's another 7,000 yard course. I happen to play tips at alot of courses, so not sure what your comment is about.

          • Murphys Creek

For many years the Murphys lived and played among the land where this country style golf course sits.. They enjoyed life to the fullest. The land has great hunting and fishing opportunities and now you can also play golf.. Among the course you will find a few abandoned homes from the Murphy family.. We ask that you not disturb these homes.. The golf course is a short 6618 yards (luv2golf) .

              • So what are the recommended specs for playing this game at 'ULTRA HD 4K GRAPHICS' when the game still doesn't support dual graphics cards setups and the most powerful graphics cards on the planet struggle to maintain an unplayable 13 fps with the game maxed at 1080p let alone multiplying the pixel count by four?

Just curious because if people think an average PC can make the game look as pretty as your screen shots Protee United, then they're in for a nasty surprise.

Marketing and hype is one thing but we need to be reasonable with our expectations.

                • Someone who is computer savvy should build the least expensive option that would play the game perfectly and post it on here. Then all we have to do is purchase the parts.

                  • People are already doing that. You can read it in The Golf club pc requirements on here

                      • http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...c-requirements check this one out, these are also people who are playing TGC with protee, gc2 or even skytrak beta testers. So they know. Even the PC game without sim is the same. I bought that game to test my pc/laptop before the skytrak release just to make sure it works and to design a few courses perfect for my distances to cheer me up ones in a while hahahaha

                        • I have an i5 with lots of everything and a GTX 970 4mb. On high, 1920x1080 it chokes on 4 detail and high settings on trees. I'd love to see the PC that runs 4k. I. Pretty happy with detail 3 and trees at about half.
