it only feels that way cause they chose to show almost nothing at the pgashow 2023. from a tech perspective they are really late 8+ yrs is like a game console ;}Originally posted by Blaiser View PostWhoa, feel like this came out of nowhere and at a great price point.
Feel like having face angle is more valuable than AoA. I like it.

ST+ is about 5 years late. Currently, the shot delay is unacceptable for a $3K unit.
The performance of today's processors must be able to compute and render a shot without lag. Either older (and cheaper) HW is used or the whole concept is wrong.

So we have a 50% price increase.
From videos I have seen the ball still has to be positioned in an exact spot marked by the laser.
Still a shot delay, but, not as bad as it was.
Not sure if average score, shot number including in base system.
Angle of attack seems missing compared to competitors (in basic mevo+ package). This is important.
Not sure if Club path, face to impact, face to target included in basic system (Mevo+ needs pro for this but other types of units it is free but accuracy suspect on some).
Mevo+ pro has more measurements such as vertical and horizontal swing plan.
The skytrak+ (2,995) data does not fully match that of its nearest competitor Mevo+ with pro package (2199.00 + 1000.00=3199.00. Usually you can get at least a 10% discount 1979.10 + 1000= 2979.10).
No option the equivalent in term of price of the base mevo+ (2199.00)
Looks like you still have to pay a subscription to skytrak so you are able to then pay for and use a simulator from another company, just like before (one of the major complaints of users on the original, did they say they listened to their users and made the changes we were all looking for ?). It is unknown if their will be a GSPro interface created for this to overcome this like the old unit, but if they hold back any required data and require the subscription for it this option will be gone.
No free golf courses as standard to use and coming with the base package e.g. as in basic Mevo+
Not saying this is not going to be OK but it is not amazing and has inherited a lot of the major financial issues people had with the original and it is, in terms of data, not as good as the mevo+ with pro package. Also no free sim golf courses to use.
I will not be pre ordering at this point for certain, too many uncertainties (what's included, exact basic data, what's extra, accuracy, angle of attack, package costs, will it really work outside). Unit also expensive compared to main competitors, how many users have actually bought a mevo+ and then need and purchased the pro, how many years will you get with the subscription for the MLM2PRO for 3,000.Last edited by Wilson Campbell; 05-05-2023, 11:23 AM.

Club path, face to impact, and face to target are included.
No stickers needed on ball or clubs. No special ball needed.
Ball position per Skytrak is about a 3" window with the ST+.

I’m not sure it makes sense to compare the skytrak to the mevo. Many people use the skytrak because they lack the space needed for a dopper based unit. For many, the mevo simply isn’t an option. So, it would make more sense to compare costs and benefits of similar units, such as the Bushnell launch pro and other camera based units, units that operate in the same space as skytrak.

I think the comparison steams from the fact that they were the only units in that price range to speak of. The BLP and GC3/GC2 are certainly more expensive but are all photometric. NEW Skytrak will be combined radar and camera however.Originally posted by CAPDAK View PostI’m not sure it makes sense to compare the skytrak to the mevo. And I think that’s my point. Comparing them by price only works if the potential buyer who is trying to choose between the two units has a space AT LEAST 16’ long for their setup. Skytrak comes in below the price of other units that can be used in the same type of space, like the GC3, Bushnell, or eye mini.Originally posted by Bubba22 View Post

And on them both using radar, skytrak + only uses the radar for club stats, from what I understand. So, it doesn’t need the absolute minimum 16 feet needed for mevo.
having said all that, I wish skytrak + had some built in courses. But I like the club data and upgraded Wi-Fi. The delay never bothered me. I like the pause between hitting it and thinking “that one went left”, because I felt it and then seeing my feel was correct. Nonetheless, I don’t know 2nd they could just use faster hardware.

At first I was certain that it would use the "3d reconstruction" method outlined in the Rapsodo patents discussed a year or two ago. But it doesn't seem like it. But club data including face in that price range? Without stickers? If accurate club data, it will be a huge hit. But I mean Quad level accurate. I will have to wait for a review.
If it is just a refresh with semi-calculated club data, it is a huge disappointment. Delay still there. Still a small hitting area identified by a dot. Still at risk of being struck by shank, needing a protective case.
If they just refreshed the existing tech with additional & better cameras, used a more robust laser curtain, and faster processor, it would rival GC3 for ball data, but at a fraction of the price.

According to the website, the hitting area was increased by 40%. The laser dot doesn’t represent an exact spot where the ball must be. It presumably identifies the general point from which the hitting area is located and identified.
I can assure you that the GC2 was also at risk of being hit by a shank because I managed to do it at golftec once. Are the GC3 and Eye Mini placed in a way that makes them impossible to hit?Last edited by CAPDAK; 05-06-2023, 01:48 PM.

So much criticism of the new model....I say wait until its in the hands of everyday hackers like us and the reviews will paint an accurate picture. There is no perfect machine out there to date at any price, there's always pros and cons.

Bubba22 - You beta tested the original. Did you do the same for this one?Originally posted by Bubba22 View Post
