  • Perfect Golf (beta) for Skytrak

Perfect Golf might look like a great game but has way too many bugs, even for an early access game still under development. It has a very long way to go before it can be mentioned in the same sentence as TGC, E6, ProTee and Red Chain. There is no AI, no stats, no tournament play and online play servers crash frequently. It currently has 10 courses and no stable (commercially) released version.

Price is unknown, but keep in mind you will be buying a beta product.

  • You can setup either tracer

    • Well Skytrak better get the PG pricing up soon, or a lot of people (like me maybe?) who are anxious will just go straight to TGC.

I think the pricepoint and laptop requirements will be determining factors for me. I have heard that PG does not require such a high powered laptop.

      Anxious to find out.

      • Perfect Golf will be $250 annually. It is not yet known if there will be a price to buy the software outright.

Much more reasonable pricing for the target audience. This is for people to use at home and TGC is priced like a commercial application.

Does it appear that the total annual cost for using PG on the ST will be $250 for the software subscription plus $99 for the ST license?

Correct SDL, regardless of the SIM the $99 GIP fee will be needed.

      • For me it came down to i wasn't interested in waiting for another company to come around and do something like we had with skytrak. Plus no one has any idea when the top real courses will be released, so possible further waiting there. Then i've found that throughout the past few years, everything i asked bubba or read from him has been spot on, so i figured tgc was good enough to go now. Plus they have historically been releasing updates fairly frequently. I got my skytrak on pre-order, so who knows depending upon whether there is an outright buy, i may get both. Can't say i see the need for it after a few rounds on tgc, but i've wasted money on clubs on whatnot.

Yeah. This is my dilemma. 1600 CAD tax in is, needless to say, a lot of semolians. Especially when there will be a similar option at 330.

hopefully PG comes out sooner than later otherwise the ship will sail to capture the early adopters.

I agree, first out is a big deal. I think that PG has the ability to change the game with a lower price. TGC is at a disadvantage as sky golf, TGC and Protee all want to make a buck. PG only has to deal with sky golf...big advantage. Now they just have to get it out soon.

      • Anyone know how to make the overhead map view stay in the new version?
It disappears every shot for me at the moment.

When you are in the game on a course. It's like the 2nd option in the upper right hand side.

Ryan when I click that it only stays on for a single shot. Same for the grid.

      • How does perfect golf interface. Is it PC, mac or ipad?

Is that PG running on Mac native, meaning not using Parallels? From what I remember seeing, you had to have one of the boot softwares on Mac, and only one of them worked, I think it was Parallels, but not sure, it might have been Boot Camp?

runs native. ST doesn't need an interface (thats a GC2 only thing).

I bought the $19 deal on Steam and am running it on my iMac (straight through OS X Yosemite). Works fine except I do not have a graphics card powerful enough to get the full power of the game. You will need a more recent graphics card in your Mac to get it to work properly. I will have to get a PC in order to run it properly and right now not ready to drop down another $1000+ on a PC I really do not need except to play this game or possibly the other released game with.

      • Testing Perfect Golf with Skytrak. All beta testers have been comparing the numbers in Perfect Golf to Skytrak Range and Flight Scope Trajectory Optimizer. The numbers are spot on.

        • So, when PG will be available for ST?

          • You can trust that PG and those that are beta testing are working hard to get this done and available as soon as possible. My back has been sore now for weeks!

            • I'd like to see what their expected pricing will be, even if they aren't ready to release yet. I'm sure many others are interested to see if there's a one-time price, but if they don't release that information soon, I'd bet many people are just going to swallow the price of TGC.

Hopefully all the user issues coming up after the TGC release aren't eating up all their time, and pushing back their PG development.

              • PG runs on my MacBook Pro. Dying to get this working with Skytrak! I've been debating jumping on TGC, but buying a $1000 computer on top of software has me hesitating if PG will be available soon for Skytrak and I'd rather not buy another computer.

As Tekbud states PG SIM will run on a Mac and work with SkyTrak(in beta or when released). My earlier comment #176.3 may have confused matters as I am a GC2 user and so cannot play sim on Mac. If anyone is admin here perhaps they could delete my earlier comment to avoid confusing matters.

                  Thanks for clarifying.

Now can't wait for ST PG release. Anyone w any idea about min Mac specs to run ST PG sim? Thanks.

              • Really hope Monday is the day for release. Tired of seeing the TGC guys so happy. As in, I'm dying to play something other than E6!

                • Still nothing.. I think I'll be revamping my sim area this weekend, and depending on how much ambition I have after that, may just pull the trigger on TGC if nothing else seems close. I'm impatient above most other things. Spring and Fall are the best times for me to get in my garage and play.

                  • I was holding out for pg and ended up pulling the trigger on tgc last Friday. I like it a lot and don't have any issues. It is also cool with ask the online stuff and tourneys.

Plus, I like that it is heavily supported on here. I may still buy pg, but not sure anymore.
