  • Skytrak Protective Case

Now the Skytrak protective case has been out for a while on their website for $129, how many people actually bought it? Happy with it?

Someone else posted that it may actually affect the ball distance? Ball was going further with Skytrak outside of the case than in the case? Anyone else with similar experience?

Other issues? I'm thinking of getting one, and don't mind paying $129, but want to make sure that it doesn't make Skytrak less accurate.

The case does not impact how the Skytrak reads the ball. It's a decent case and does it's job. Probably a bit overpriced, but since it was made by Skytrak they have to answer for any failures of the case to protect the unit. I'm fine with the fact that I purchased it.

I got it. The case is fine, love the adjustment and level. Even that I never hit a ball anywhere close, I like the peace of mind lol. Little overpriced but overall I'm happy with it.

I like the long adjustable feet. It allows you to level the unit without being on your mat.....or the mat at the local range.

I have managed to hit the case pretty hard with the ball and no damage to it or Skytrak. Would definitely recommend it.

I have one and can attest that it is in fact protective, but not very durable. A beginner, I tried using my driver yesterday with the ST for the first time, and managed to damage the case while the ST inside thankfully seems unaffected. A badly struck ball took a good-sized chunk of plastic from the case, which I have super-glued back together. I'm delighted that the ST itself survived the impact, but would of course have preferred that the case remain intact. I'd pay a little more for a case made of more impact-resistant material.

the problem with the case is it doesn't even protect the camera part

I like to hit draws and I get pretty nervous hitting those type of shots with the ST so close to the ball. Wish they would have allowed another foot away from the ball. That said, I think I will have to buy this case because I am scared to death that I am going to hit it if I accidentally shank a shot.

The case does help take away some nerves about damaging the unit. It's not perfect but it does the job unless you want to DIY a better one.

I would buy it again. Doesn't change accuracy. Nice bubble level and feet work great not only to level it but also to adjust height for different mat thicknesses.

I agree with the above comments. It is a little bit expensive, it doesnt protect the camera lens and it should have been made with a more pliable resilient plastic. All that said, it offers protection for about 75% of the front of the ST unit and 100% of the rest. I had a DIY setup that offered more protection but it was a pain to set up. I had affixed a round self stick bubble level purchased for 2$ at a TrueValue hardware store to the top of my unit (which by the way I still use with the case) just like the one now included with the case so that to me is not a game changer. What is however are the adjustable feet. I purchased a new mat that is almost 2" thick and the feet make it very easy to level the unit with the ball. So all in all it works great for me and makes set up very simple.

So I got my case in this weekend. My wife (knows nothing about golf) saw it on the table this morning and made the statement "This thing looks pretty cheap for a protective case, how much did you spend?" What followed after telling her the price I shall not discuss lol...

I am really happy with the case. Offers peace of mind and looks good. Before the I had the case I was constantly messing with the unit to get it level which was a real pain.

I purchased one as well due to my son being a beginner. He has hit the thing several times. As state above I also think it is overpriced and the first day I had it my son hit the clamp to keep the unit shut and it busted off. Held in place by a rubber band now. It does make me a little nervous that the unit is not protected on the camera, but it is what it is.

anybody make their own? DIY that they want to sell me? I may buy one of these, but some of the DIY I see on the site look even better and "MORE PROTECTIVE". I'd buy one from you?
