My issues seem to be occurring in putting mode as well and like previous poster mentioned a msg pops up in bottom right corner. I notice it because I don't play in windowed mode but when this switch to putting mode occurs it puts me back in windowed mode.

I did have a few chips and pitches on the Augusta par 3 that showed correct spin and ball physics but for whatever reason was not in putting mode.

I think we may be on to something here

Here are two videos that might help:

As long as I'm not in putting mode all is good.

Ive have tried this a bunch of times before and thought the putting/normal mode thing may be the issue as well, but if I hit to select an actual club around the green it will sometimes switch it to normal mode (from putting mode that it was automatically in) and Ill still get the 1000 and 0 spin thing. And of the other hand if the game is already automatically in normal mode around the green and I hit the putter button to change it to putting mode it will actually read 0 backspin, side spin and all and fly normal but shoot across the green like a bullet upon landing.

Not sure what the exact distance is that the game changes it from putting to normal modes but from my findings thus far if ther game automatically puts you in normal or putting mode too close to the green it will read that 1000 spin thing no matter what, but if its in normal mode and you manually change it to putting mode it seems to read 0 backspin and shoot across the green. Ill try to post a video of this some time tomorrow (not gonna be able to play tonight), tough to explain through text

You can actually see in my video on the originally post on the thread how i switch back and forth to show that I am in normal mode on the chip. Wish I hit a chip there after switching it to putting mode manually as well, if I did you would have seen the ball fly normally and then shoot across the green like a putt. But nevertheless, protee noticed it and already have a fix coming out for us and quickly too!

I've played 10 rounds now. EVERY time I have 1000 rpm backspin (or 900 rpm if in a bunker) the Skytrak has been in putting mode. The fix should be as simple as don't put the Skytrak in putting mode unless I have the putter selected.

BTW this costs me 2-4 strokes per round. Anytime I'm semi-short sided I have 0% chance of getting up and down.

Yes I agree with this, but feel Protee may have done something else with a toggle switch. Based on what Protee has said, I have doubts that their fix will address the root problem. Hopefully I am wrong on that.

Similar thing happens with JNPG, although slightly different in how it unfolds. If I'm short-sided, I can manually select putting mode and the ST will read the chip just fine, but with JNPG, it doesn't have 1000rpm spin- it just takes what the ST passes to it (which is 0 rpm). Thus the soft chip launches and lands just fine, but then runs out for 80 feet... That's why I was thinking a user-selectable chipping mode would be a neat thing to have from the ST side of things. It would basically be just like putting mode, except it would also read and report backspin. SkyTrak_Seth, what would be the implications of such a thing? I'm sure there's more to it than I'm aware.

Yeah, you are pretty much on the right track...basically we should not be allowing chips in putting mode as the back spin is messing things up. I'm still not sure where this 1000rpm thing is coming from though. As you said, should be zero.

Definitely agree with it costing that amount of strokes round, Ive tried to get used to basically just landing my chips in the fringe on some shots, but don't want to get too used to chipping this way if the fix works as we hope it will. When I watch ks-man videos and I see him getting 3000 to 6000 spin on some his short shots, that awesome and my dream for this fix to allow us to be able to do.

As for the putting mode vs. normal mode, you can see in my original video I switched back and forth from putting to normal mode, but I think the only reason I was even able to do this because the game automatically put me in normal mode in the first place. Its been a little while since I tested everything but I thought the game wouldn't even let me switch to normal mode around the green if it already automatically put me in putting mode (hence why I couldnt get a full on swing to resister around the greens), so may be something to that. It seems to come down to whatever mode the game automatically puts you into will read the 1000 spin. And If it puts you in normal mode and you switch to putting mode it will read 0 spin and shoot across the green as a putt as TorchRedRob said

What's the latest on this? I'm on Windows 10 and get the notifications of when SkyTrak/TGC is going into putting mode (not the same as selecting the putter), and it does it quite frequently when just off the green in light and heavy rough. Chip shots never behave right when in putting mode, and I'm not sure how to get out of putting mode.

There is a putting fix config option in the ST/TGC options file... what does it do exactly?

Hey deadstick, I started a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. In short, short correction ON means you will get the 1200ish spin on chip shots but will never have a hard time getting a 4 - 6 yard chip to register. With it OFF, you will get accurate spin numbers but may have issues getting the shorties to register. I've found that OFF is the only way to go for me. I talk about it in the thread.

Thanks Gary. I tested it out thoroughly today, and I have to leave Short Chip Correction ON or else nearly all of my short chips fail to register.

SkyTrak/TGC could clear up a lot of this confusion by having a Short Chip Correction Mode ON notification, instead of saying Putting Mode is on.

Would be great if there was a toggle in TGC that we could select to turn it off and on based on need.

Seems like that should be easy to do. Wonder why it hasn't? I had a 4 yard chip from the rough in the last tourney (how is that possible?) and I popped an extremely de-lofted putter and it popped right out of the rough and trickled into the hole. Other than that, I've had a couple of misses and can just hit the next a tad harder and get it to register. I'm loving the switch.

Hey new to the forum. Just received our SkyTrak and TGC! Love it! Stupid question but how do you turn off the short chip correction option??? Do you simply open the config file and remove the word ON and change to OFF?
