The built in graphics of the AMD A-10 will not run TGC on medium. I don't think it will on low detail either. The CPU is good though. You do not want to run in low detail. A 660 should run at medium with object detail at 2 or 3.

Getting ready to pull the trigger here, it's been a few years since I did a build (done about 10 or so in my life time). Looks like the consensus for TGC is to go with a GTX 670 used or a 770 new and do the build around that. If I go the 770 route I'll be around $800, if I go used with a 660 maybe get it down to $700.

Then of course I stumbled on the AMD A-10 7850-K Kaveri. Gamers are playing Battlefield 4 with this thing with high praises. Can I go that route?? I could go that route for around $400-$500.

I am an IT guy who never did much gaming, so the fact that I have to swap out a good laptop with an i7 in it is a tough pill for me to swallow. Remember that I am hitting into a PR-20 with a 720P projector.

I just need something that works on default medium or high. I don't need to play battlefield 4 after I play a round of golf. Would a Kaveri build suite my needs? Or do I need to just suck it up and pick some money off the money tree in the back yard when I rake some leaves this weekend?

Ok guess I'll bite and build a new system. Since most of the PC specs posted here are more than 6 months old I am sure there has to be other specs that are either better and cheaper. Or I can get whats been listed here for less etc.

However note that I have a 720p projector and a PR-20 screen. I just need a spec that will be good for now. If I hit the lottery later and am able to buy a new screen and projector I'll probably have to upgrade the PC by then anyways. We should also have a cheap LM on the market for $200 that does both club and ball data better than the GC2 w/HMT plus angle of attack and integration with TGC

Sorry for the rant, back to the topic... I don't need overkill maxed out detail on 5 video settings, I just need a PC that boots up and runs TGC with standard default video settings on either high or medium. My current laptop works, but I am only getting 11 FPS at medium default settings.

So what specs do I need? Bubba22 you mind listing your specs? Would this cheap build work???

Zmax, I suspect you can live with it after reading the article where I saw it mentioned again. Check out an article written by Lifehacker On whether it is worth it to run two cards, he mentions the things you need to consider. The article is from 2013. Hope this helps.

I think I have heard gamers raise some concerns over the use of using two video cards. Might be worth researching first before pulling the trigger on this as the issues raised might be a concern for you. I now that a lot of people run with two cars, but think that they live with the potential issues or are not aware.

Yes, TGC will work with 2 cards. I've read on HB forums where folks have gained a 50% improvement in FPS. This is cheaper than buying a GTX780 and hopefully yield the same amount of improvement. Just got to have a motherboard, case, and PS big enough to handle 2 cards. My 800W PS should be able to do it.

Will the game benefit and allow 2 video cards? Big performance boost with the second card?

Tough to find an off the shelf pc on black Friday that will have a good 750+W PS. The 970 sounds nice but man, that's big money. I'm currently looking on Ebay for another 670 to SLI.

If you're not able or willing to try to build it yourself (it's really not difficult at all; lots of youtube videos to walk you through it) I'd take one of our specs and have it built.

I think a good graphics card is something you would really need. I think you would be hard pressed to find the 670 card mentioned above, as they are now on the 970, which I hear is a really good card for the price, but likely $100 more than what most are willing to pay for a good card.

The prospects of building a custom PC are a little daunting to me (you guys are an impressive bunch!). With Black Friday coming up I'm thinking of purchasing an off-the shelf PC for future support of ProTee sim, with the expectation that I'd have to at least upgrade the Video Card. From what I've gathered from this forum, are these the specs I should be sure to have with a pre-built?

• OS: Windows 8.1
• Processor: Intel Core i5 or better
• 8GB RAM
• 750W or higher power supply (minimum 600W) - this seems to be the most difficult to find
• 4 USB Slots
• HDMI out

Anything else I should be sure to consider? Or would you recommend taking one of your spec lists to a place like TigerDirect and have them custom build for me?
