Thanks Karl that's exactly what I'm looking for! Great job on the setup, and thank you for the detailed explanation!
I'm in Indiana - just near the Michigan border, so having a Sim is a priority for me as well... I just can't handle not being able to hit a driver/3 wood though, so I'm having a 2nd floor addition built that will include a room with 10' ceiling... We needed the space on the house anyway, and I was lucky to carve out some room upstairs for the simulator. Whereabouts are you in Michigan?
As you go through the process and make modifications please keep us informed here with more photos, and descriptions of what worked for you.
My problem encountered today revolves around that I might now have a tray ceiling installed in that room, to save on cost (over a cathedral ceiling), and that leaves me with 2' of space to the wall that is only 8' ceiling - where the screen/net/enclosure go, so - I either move the screen away from the wall 2', maybe this will work anyway, and then I have 10' to the ceiling, just in case of any crazy wedges or sand wedges...

Hoosier - I will try to send a pic. I used these magnetic clips that we had around the house (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Ma...6624/203613199). I placed them every 8 inches are so, and they have held fine. I used bungees attached to angle iron. Since I used same size bungees as I used to attach the screen, the clips are high enough that I won't hit them, and they are relatively small. I should note, that the mattress topper I am using is not as dense/heavy as memory foam, so if you have thicker memory foam you might need strong clips. I was going to try something like this if the smaller clips didn't work (http://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-2-in-...6?N=5yc1vZc266)

Here's my ProTee setup. It's in my garage, where space is a bit tight. The enclosure/screen is the Minibay from allsportsystems.com. It's 10x10x5. I just didn't have the room in my garage to go any wider. Projector is a Viewsonic (forget the model number, but it's a 4:3 and around $320. It puts out a great picture at 3,200 lumens. I like it so far.) It sits directly in front about 5.5 feet from the screen. I just placed a wooden board with foam on each side over it to protect it.
The stance mat was a fun little project. Since the ProTee stands 2.7 inches, I had to build the mat up to that. What I did was layer these:
1. Two sheets of 2x2 plywood (1/2 inch thick each) screwed together. 8 pieces total to cover the 4x4 area to roughly 1 inch height. I would have used 1 layer of 1 inch plywood, but the actual height of 1 inch plywood is actually only 0.7 inches or so compared to 0.9 or so for the two 1/2 pieces together. Go figure.
2. 2x2 foam puzzle mat from Amazon.com (4 pieces) = 1/2 inch height.
3. 4x4 Monster Tee golf turf= ~1.75 inches. I glued the turf onto the mat with a tube of contractor adhesive.
The end result sits nearly exactly even with the ProTee and has the advantage that the Monster Tee is a nice turf to hit practice balls from, and the foam cushion underneath is great on the feet. Total cost was around $120.
I described my lighting rig in the DIY light forum section. Basically, it's the ProTee canister light connected to a shop extension cable with a switch cable that allows me to turn it on and off from below (the switch cable is plugged into an outlet in the ceiling).
Computer is an i5 4670k ($550) paired with a GTX 960 GPU ($200).1 Photo

Finally. Last night I played a three holes on TGC with a Protee system (with a cheeky birdie on the second at Augusta having gone through the back in 2!) I also have a Skytrak. I am waiting for material to arrive (hopefully on Monday) to tidy up the screen area and will then post pictures of the 2 enclosures we have built. We have learnt a lot during this process. Protee have answered all our questions and the impact screens are awesome. Basically I don't have much to say but feel like a kid at Christmas waiting to tear up Amen Corner tonight! Thanks to all the contributors for the guidance so far.

Started building a couple months ago. My first and only kid was born a month ago so I knew I was going to need to stay closer to home.
Didn't have enough height in the basement so the garage had to do. The screen is attached to 3/4" emt conduit. The nets are attached.
The whole thing is storable on the ceiling. You can pick up each side and secure into hooks on the ceiling. Takes about 3 minutes to take up and down.
I do however plan on automating the storage. I would like to have the screen go up and down as a garage door would, perhaps by a pulley system with a small motor.
Built the stance platform per jagmanjoes instruction as I initially got the optishot. However after reading about TGC and skytrak I ended up upgrading to skytrak recently. Planning on keeping my PC with TGC on it in the basement and running cable to it. Building that PC now, fingers cross TGC with skytrak is reasonably priced.
I live in the Midwest. Kansas to be specific so heating and cooling is the next thing I'm going to address. Luckily I have a window I can add a window unit to (that heats and cools). But I'd like to eventually do one of the mini split Mitsubishi units.
The projector shelf was frustrating as the projector I purchased (short throw optima 720p) doesn't have a zoom function so it's in front of the hitting area more than I'd like. Definitely in danger of a poorly hit ball.
Needless to say the wife was more than skeptical about all of this.

Looks great Ryan. Enjoy the club data and TGC. Once you get the impact screen and projector then you will ge to another whole level. How do you like the putting sensor?

We used it for the first time tonight. I am impressed with how nice it is to putt over. It definitely adds a lot to the setup. I like it a lot.
It is kinda funny when you accidentally trip the sensor with your shadow and the ball takes off 100 yards.

Yes be careful. The putting sensors do not have a trigger like the base sensors, so do not step over them when they are activated. Place the ball about 8" in front and try to putt straight....

Looks cool Ryan. I like the way everything folds up. I'm ordering my protee in a couple of days. Once I get it up and running I'll send you some pics of my set up and get your thoughts. Hows it working out for you with the protee.?? How's the sensor pad to hit off of?? Plush??? . quick question, noticed on one of the pics your had the Vcam behind you and not facing you. Thought the camera had to be facing you when you hit.. noticed you have track man as well.. do you use that together with the Vcam?? Best of luck..

The final perspective. This started out as a workout room. Busted a wall out, lots of planning and framing, insulation, flooring, finishing and it is now the man cave/golf sim/Wii room/sleep-over for the girls room/??????????????. Next spring I will get a heat/cool unit instead of just a portable heater. The decoration/memorabilia will continue. I have a flag from Pebble Beach and from the Coeur d'Alene Resort. I will acquire them as I visit them. The other signs etc. are from my youth and history.7 Photos
